Persian carpet auction at Lourensford Wine Estate

  • Persian Emporium had an auction at the Lourensford Wine Estate. We were at the Estate for a walk around and stumbled across the auction. We ended up getting two of these rugs but the more I look at this video I am convinced the two old people are connected and were not genuine customers but rather used to give the auction some momentum

    I didn't hear him say it was made out of wool. The last time I checked out Persian carpets in Virginia, most were made from synthetics. R3250 equals $216. That sounds almost too good to be true. When I was a kid at Helderberg College, I used to play on woolen brown/black Persian carpet that my parents had brought over from Tehran. I thought they sold it for R600 in 1967, (which would be R47,000 now?). Seems impossible.

      Thanks Marvin, I believe he said sometime hand tufted wool? I don't know but my GF bought two lol
