  • I gathered five different Gaussian Splatting applications and online services that are noteworthy to follow in year 2024. There is 3D scanning and editing tools and individual training options that offers possibilities to create Gaussian models locally on Unreal Engine. But then there is also a very interesting VR viewer application. Check the links below.

    Amazing video as always! When I notice anything new in the 3D world I run to your channel to see if you have talked about it, you never miss! Keep up the great work!

Thank god some one helps nubs like me to cut thrug the nois and the overvelming wave of new tech in 3DGS. much apreciated and I will follow your vids closly for further updats and clarifications. I am perticulary intrested in using this tecnology for arcitectural visualation. Keep on Keeping on!!

    Great summary of apps. Kiri is so dope! Got the Kiri Pro new years deal and wow, hats off to the developers. So easy to use as you said! Good on you Olli, it's going to be a great year for UE and much more immersive graphics.

    Great video Olli as always! A small correction about Gracia though: I got it running wirelessly on my Quest Pro VR headset so I can confirm that the application can be used wirelessly with suitable headsets.

      That is good to know. I thought that it might work trough Airlink as I said in video but I didn't test it. Next it would be nice if we could run Gracia on stand alone headsets without computer connection at all.

    Another great summary for working with Gaussian Splats. You do a great job keeping your audience informed and have been since this technology was introduced. Thank you!
    I am currently working with generating 3DGS models exported using postshot (thanks for introducing me !) as well as Polycam and Luma. I would like to edit the splat PLY file after it's created but I want to export it back to a PLY splat file for viewing. My understanding is that I can do this with the Unity plugin and the two paid UE plugins but not with the Luma UE plugin. What would your recommendation be for editing a PLY file and then exporting it back to a PLY file? I'm new to all of this so I hope my question makes sense.

      You should try Super splat editor in web. It is the best editor to clean Gaussian models from floating artifacts and you can export the cleaned model to PLY

      @hollisatlarge Před 2 měsíci

      @@OlliHuttunen78 I totally agree! I really like super splat for exactly that feature. However, what I really want to accomplish is to take a PLY splat file and maybe add a background or another 3D object to the scene and then export back to PLY splat file to be viewed; I don't just want to remove splats.
      Maybe using Luma WebGL Library? Anyway, thanks for your quick response. I'll let you know what I find. Cheers!

    Hi Olli, I don't know whether you have heard of Gaussian Editor, but it seems like a great tool. I don't have a Linux system, so I can't try it out myself, but it has many interesting features such as Semantic segmentation of gaussians. A video on that would be awesome!

      Wow! Gaussian Editor looks really cool. Especially that feature where you can use AI to produce 3D objects from a text prompt into Gaussian models. Thanks for this tip! I need to get to know this better.

    Hey Olli,
    once again Great Video. Have You tried Quest2 with the GS Unreal plugin from Luma AI? It works fairly decent, but I have discovered that if you tilt your head, the Goshen rotate with the headset, and the model falls apart. Just wondering if you have the same experience and if the Gracia app has the same problem.
    Greetings
    Kai

      Hi Kai! Yes. I tested gaussian models in Unreal with VR. I managed to get it work but it was very laggy and I noticed flickering splats. But I think that my Gaussian model had too many points in it. It Was too heavy for VR. I need to test it again with much smaller and optimized PLY file. Gracia seems to have same problem. It becomes very slow and the FPS drops if you have large Gaussian model with lot of splat points in there. But those 3DGS models that Gracia offers in its library they can run even 120fps. So they are quite well optimized.

      @@OlliHuttunen78 hi Olli, I currently get all my 3DGS from Lohmar so I don’t really now how how heavy there are in terms of rendering performance. I have imported them into unreal with a Luma AI plug-in, and then I turned on a virtual location scouting to jump right into unreal engine with my quest two.
      I will install a Grazia and give it a goal to see how it compares to the unreal version.

    Hi Olli, I have been waiting for the ability to have motion in GS/nerf for what feels like an age and have been following a project on github but with no code released yet. i have just noticed that on your right monitor at @7:30 there are girls dancing in what looks like an animated nerf/gs ..is that right ? could you please tell me what that is ? thanks man..and good luck with the channel :)

    • @OlliHuttunen78
      @OlliHuttunen78  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes. I have been following this so-called 4D Gaussian splatting development where movement can be recorded. But as I understand it, it requires quite a number of synchronized cameras to record the movement. Consequently, it also generates a huge amount of data, the calculation of which requires tremendous power. So this technology is not yet very easily accessible. It's interesting, but I'm waiting for its development and when it will be made into a proper easy-to-use application.

    i always using my phone to take some video of various enviroment ,building , office... and then do 3d gaussin splat , even i think i record video carefull and stable , but the result always got suck.
    i don't know how to shoot them perfect for 3d gaussin splat , note that i don't have 360 camera , only a phone camera ,
    may there are some tips and trick to shoot video for 3d gaussin splat using phone ?
    is there any chance you can make some tutorial for this topic ?
