Hi Ian, I’ve not personally fished the Wye for barbel and chub but tactics should be similar / the same as fishing the Severn. Same baits, equipment and swims. I’ve fly fished the Wye many times and something to bare in mind is how clear the water can be. If trotting a float try meat or pellet hookbait, feed in plenty of hemp above the swim so it settles in the correct place. If feeder fishing, halibut pellet hookbait and ground bait in a cage or open ended feeder should do the trick. Best of luck and let me know how you get on 🤞🏼👍🏼🎣
foul hooked tho but nice fish never the less. Where did you fish too-We got up 4 time a year and always do very well at least 40+ barbel each and stacks of decent chub. back up again in 2wks. Nice to see the float work and a center pin mate :)
DAZ I wasn’t going to put this video up because of the foul hook but it was the only one I actually managed to get on film 😫 I fish 6 or 7 different stretches between Worcester and Bridgnorth - barbel town 👍🏼 Best of luck in 2 weeks mate 🙏🏼

Trimpley on the beach section but also a few pegs along that stretch that are all different, just love river fishing mate as I live in Cornwall and we have no river fishing here sadly. what is you favorite swim mate?
DAZ I fished the beach at Trimpley this week, only for an hour or so but managed a barbel and 3 or 4 chub 👍🏼 This video is just below Trimpley on the opposite bank (WSP not BAA), my fav for trotting. Alveley is my fav for the feeder. Some decent fly fishing down your way isn’t there?
