@Maria Teodora Costiuc 1qqqq1
the face construction follows the parameters of the lace line in drawing, a logical procedure well done
My eyes : yes, I got it ! My hand : No, you don't.
You are the best, hello I am painting on CZcams with red brush art. Please come and watch a lot and subscribe. ^^ 😄😄😄
Sorry, I don’t understand your comment?
@@tinkerno11 You think it is easy when you are watching it but then you realise it is not when you actually try to paint it. Better?
P S oh yes, I watch a lot of these and think how easy these professionals with years of training make it look. On and off I’ve been working on the famous painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring” for 3 years, but when I try and use the information like I’ve looked at today, it most certainly will not go the same. I
will not give up on this though because I’ve already put too much into it! She may not look quite the same at the girl but it will be my version!
My mind this is easy you can do it...reality not even close
this video changed my life I just painted the best portrait I've ever made
Thank you Elizabeth. Nice to hear. For people like you my commitment to make videos.
My art teacher sent this to me and I swear it was the most detailed and helpful video I’ve ever seen. That’s some amazing work... as someone else said, I really can’t believe this was free!
It is my pleasure!
Thank You 🙏🏼
God bless him!! I am going to keep watching it till it sinks in
Ben: "highlights are cool"
Me: "damn right they are"
Ben: "this is a cool highlight, crimson and white"
Me: "hell yeah it is!"
Ben: "lights are cool, shadows are warm..."
Me: "oh, that's what he meant..."
Indeed indeed.
LOL
Wow! Ja, dat is het!
SAME! Hahahahahahahaa
youre funny lol
This video needs a love button. Like isn’t up to the task.
Agree! An amazing tutorial.
Very nice
I guess everyone that watch this video, leave this site, with loving taste of gratitude to the owner of this tutorial... so also do I..
“Maybe that’s too much(red),he’s not an alcoholic” 😭🤣🤣
Really sweet of you to post such a detailed video online for free!
Thanks a ton!❤
Thank you
"When you start making it simpler, it's easier to paint. Don't see it too complicated. Usually people see far too many colors." Oh, this is so true!!! Thank you for putting into words why I struggle.
Same!
This was so helpful, detailed and extremely well taught! I've watched other oil painting videos about this topic but I always felt like it was way too much information but this really makes it simple and easy to understand. Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you, I am glad you liked it.
@@lustenhouwer Thankyou - so appreciated, you are a wonderful teacher
Your work is amazing detailed and extremely well taught! I've watched your video plenty of times
@@princeyem2684 igualmente // Él es como un buen libro .Cada vez que entras aprendes más.
I was impressed on how you never saw the artist's hand. He holds the brush at the very end. That gives his work a very loose and natural look. Amazing!
The painting movement comes from the shoulder. Not from the wrist.
Thanks!❤ Years ago I studied oil portraits with a very fine artist, Bill Kalwick. He moved away and it was over. Today I found your video and I feel I’ve found him again. I do love your video and teaching and I will watch all of them. I am inspired again. Thank you so much, Virginia Perle. !!!
Thank you so much Virginia. So nice!
I must add I have never seen a tutorial where an artist is so much at ease with his brush and that really knows exactly what every stroke will do ...... I am so impressed and learned so much.
Hello Mr. Lustenhouwer! This is the simplest and most ingenious tutorial I've seen. Thank you, sir.
I agree!
I agree!!! Thank you so much ❤️
one can only simplify if he knows it good enough
Perfection. 29 years in art, and somebody finally explains it in a simplified manner. I took notes like Dylan.
Thank you Mark
@@lustenhouwer, no. Please. Thank you. Where are you from originally, Mr. Lustenhouwer? If you don't mind my asking.
I’ve always wanted to paint portraits and have been so intimidated. Your video showed me so simply and clearly how to begin, I started painting alongside you and am so excited. I’m now comfortable to start and keep learning. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Keep painting.
How are you doing now?
On the nose painting at 14:40 "Maybe that is too much, he's not a alcoholic" LMAO! Anyway, a great watch and thank you so much for this! Just started painting again and this was extremely helpful!
I was just about to post the same thing re the "alcoholic" comment.
Came to say this 😂😂😂😂
Hahaha yes yes, i like his humour :D
Omg, I never understood why I intuitively knew beyond logic someone had a drinking problem.
I will be watching this several times. So much information. A great education for FREE.
Thank you Ben. You are so generous with your experience.
Sometimes (very rarely) you come across pure gold dust instruction. This is one such. This is simply brilliant!

Ben, You are fantastic!
Fastenating! You have a voice that's calming to listen to, you simplified so even I can do that. So glad the man is not an alcoholic.
This was a great lesson in portrait painting, love the technic of the three planes of color. I especially enjoyed watching you paint and explain while you are painting. Thanks for sharing your expertise. God bless you for your generosity.

So fabulous in breaking it down into bite size pieces! I love how you talk about facial anatomy in layman’s terms. Great palette. Great advice about falling into pitfalls like using black straight up. Love hearing about light/shadow and soft connections. My students will love this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👌
Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your great knowledge and skill!

Thanks for a wonderful demonstration!
Thank you
Ben -- an amazing and incredibly useful tutorial -- thank you
Thank you
I envy your students Maestro. Thank you for your lesson. Probably one of the best video-tutorial.
I just wanted to add that your narration was so explicit that I was able to understand each step and add what I need to my arsenal of portrait techniques. Thank you SO much for your wonderful generosity in making this video!!
The level of detailed you add in picture shows , in what level of dedication you imagine and notice small and a bit of detailed nature . You definitely learn a beautiful skill of portraying what you imagine in life .
Here's my respect ❤
A good painting is always about imagination. Thank you
This was so fantastic to watch and hear... super helpful !! Thank you for the clear explanation as well as the fantastic demonstration !!
You are welcome.
Thank You for sharing these essential foundations in constructing a face. You articulated and demonstrated your basic example masterfully. Not until now have I been able to make sense or understand how to even begin . With drawing it's no problem, however with painting, it has at times just been so frustrating even feeling as though it has wrecked my world. I believe I maybe more disciplined and mature now than I was. Very much appreciate you and your work and the tools to build on. Your Awesome!!!
Very appreciative, with much respect
Finally! Something that I can follow, and then experiment with! Thank you, it’s simple to begin, and you explain without extra talk. Subscribing for sure 👍🏻
Brilliant video, a massive amount of helpful information, the split screen with the work and the palette is really great
Thank you Mark.
Great lessons to learn! Thank you!
“not too much as I said, you don't want him to cry"
Sorry, I LAUGH
You are the best, hello I am painting on CZcams with red brush art. Please come and watch a lot and subscribe. ^^ 😄😄😄
Wonderful to see a new tutorial in such hard times... thank you for warming our hearts and nourishing our Souls. All the warmest wishes from New Zealand 🌹❣️
I learned so so so much from this video! You are a wonderful teacher. Many artists have a hard time explaining as so much is just reflex for them. You however, break it down perfectly. I’m sharing these videos with all my artist friends. I painted with you and I’m very happy with my painting. I think I’ll do it another 10x to cement it in my brain.
Yes Alison. Keep paining. Its never ending
thankyou very much for the master class.
I absolutely loved watching this, great explanations and teachings, thank you so much!

This video is fantastic. Just what I need to help me progress in my painting. Thank you so much, your time and effort is very much appreciated 👍
It is my pleasure
Большое спасибо за такое прекрасное видео!
Thanks sir for this lesson
Wonderful Maestro. When I was a child, I would watch my father and others at work, doing all kinds of tasks. I would always bother them with my inquisitive questioning; what are you doing, how does it work, and on and on. I would always get the same answer, watch and learn. The same is true here, by watching and listening to you I have learned, thank you, Maestro.
Wonderful example & explanation! Thank you so much for sharing!😊
Thank you Janeen
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing knowledge and skills, wonderfull

Thank you so much for simplifying what has seemed like a complex subject for a beginner painter such as I. I would love to see maybe a second part where you complete the portrait, adding more detail, and blending the skin. Subscribed.
In my other videos I show how to continue.
i'm so inspired by your style.
Thank you
I cannot thank you enough for this info. This is the crucial knowledge that I have been looking for but haven't known how to put into words. Thank you.
