Next week: a pair of animated sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

I had a friend who invited me to go see this movie when it originally released. After the movie was over and we were leaving the theater, he just said, "I'm sorry."
I had a very similar experience except that it was Apt Pupil two years earlier, and my friend apologized to me and his stepbrother as we were leaving the theater.
Totally unrelated but I went to see Sweeny Todd with some friends and there was a football player/cheerleader couple 3 seats away. I could see how angry he was getting the whole time and when it finished I heard him say "You didn't tell me it was a F***ing Musical!" and now that guy gets to live in my head rent free
I would have had that same reaction if I'd ever gone to see an Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. Except they never made one.
You "had" a friend? Forgive him, he wasn't to know!
😂😂
The fact that you managed to sum up this movies flaws in a video shorter than the movie itself is an accomplishment of its own.
so true while i enjoy the movie itsreall no D&D and a big part of that that is the cohosen one narative for Ridly. Image you sit down with your friends to do the Profion campign and any time theres a set pice some magic barrier stops you from entering for the rogue can solo it, a rogue who also has no down sides and had multiple class advantages. You be screaking favortism by thefirst hour
He couldn't handle making it longer
Rumours say that to this day, Jeremy Irons still finds bits of D&D scenery in his teeth every time he flosses
😆
Bruce Payne apparently has the same issue, except he finds pieces of Highlander Endgame, as well.
True fact, even his dentist cannot get the chunks out.
How about Lolita's pubes?
Lol
Jeremy Irons needs more respect for turning up to these kinds of movies and giving it his all. He's a quality actor who can totally do quiet nuance but when the movie needs some ham, he brings the bacon and keeps things somewhat entertaining
do you know an example where i can watch that? all the irons movies i know he´s somewhat over the top
Quality actor, terrible person.
Oh no… off to Google what he did now.
Oh no!!
Jeremy Irons is a great actor.
"You can't multiclass all the classes"
*Abserd has entered the chat*
Jeremy Irons was asked why he was in this movie: "I'd just bought a castle - I needed to pay for it somehow!"
At least he’s honest
The Michael Caine defense. I love it
@@SarahonwheelsYep.
TBH Jeremy Irons is the only reason i watch DND 2003
Don’t forget eragon
""Dungeons & Dragons" looks like they threw away the game and photographed the box it came in." - the late Roger Ebert
Most accurate thing summarization of this movie
RIP ROGER.
One of the few times I agreed with Ebert
Just like his infamous review of "North", Ebert was too nice.
@@jbvader721 Roger wasn’t nice, he was blunt and honest
@@chasehedges6775 Not enough though. Especially on "North".
7:29 Finally, they admit the "Cinemasins does a video about a movie when a sequel/remake/related movie is near release" cliche.
Just to clarify, this is based on D&D 3.0 where rogues had a "use magic item" skill. This would let them roll a skill check to use magic items they shouldnt be able to. This is why he can activate the map and some other wierd stuff he does
I think the better explanation is : writers knew fck all about this D&D thing .... they just picked a rogue fanfic and turned it into a movie
Loving the explicit D&D references in the sins themselves. Nerd cred, solidified. ❤️
My mom actually brought this as one of my Christmas presents. I remember opening it, watching it together and straight up lying to her face when she asked if I enjoyed it at the end. To this day I’ve never told her.
Tell her the truth my family would rather have me enjoy a movie or game they bought me then lie but that's just my family
I just told her. She now hates you for lying and says she will never buy you anything or believe anything you say again. 😂
19:48 - "A maze so easy it could have been a game show"
Richard O'Brien aka Xilus (or Riff Raff as he's referred to by The Narrator) famously hosted popular 90s uk puzzle game show The Crystal Maze.
That overview shot of the maze doesn't look too dissimilar to the layout of the show either with the dome in the centre and different areas around it
I was a huge Crystal Maze fan as a little kid so when that scene happened in the film I lost my shit. Unfortunately, I was in the theater with a bunch of Americans who didn't get the reference so I just looked like a crazy person. But O'Brian and Jeremy Irons combine to make this one of my guilty pleasure films.
Yes, that's the joke.
I actually stole the smashing the hourglass solution for a trap once. Instead of spikes coming down the room was filling up with water. However full the bottom of the hourglass was was how full the room was. Players never solved it though. They just found a clever way to brute force it.
I thought movie just implies broken hourglass = stopped time = stopped spikes, as a logic for the puzzle.
This movie is absolutely terrible but Jeremy Irons’ hammy performance is glorious to witness
LET YOUR BLOOOODDD RAAAAIIIINN FROM THE SKYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
@@jasonblalock4429 "YATATATATA!!". *waves hand spastically*
He must've been coughing up bits of scenery for MONTHS afterwards.
He had a stupid script though, so that his performance contained overacting.
I never realized how much squeaking Marlon Wayans and Chris Tucker had in common.
Minstrels for the Jews.
And now we got D.C. young fly
Jeremy Irons and Thora Birch were the best parts of the entire fiasco. They're decent actors who are far better than the mediocre movie they found themselves in.
ESPECIALLY Jeremy Iron. He’s pure gold in this
@СоriIIаz No. Go away.
Jeremy irons yes Thora Birch was kinda wasted
@@oliversacco7320 yes, but on what. I like her but she looks checked out.
@@zerovalon6243 I totally think she checked out lol she is a great actress but there is nothing for her to do she plays a very bland character
Gotta say. I absolutely LOVE your videos. Its a great way to watch movies that i never planned on watching in the first place!
No shit lol
I remember being furious that my local theater didn't do a showing for this film. When I finally saw it on VHS I was still furious, just for different reasons...
There was a Dungeons and Dragons movie in 2000? How did I miss that?
Be thankful you did because this abomination was at least another 70-80 minutes on top of this 23 minutes
We were very disappointed
Luckly.
among us
Ya didn't miss much lol
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR A VERY LONG TIME!
I used to play D&D and I remember being so excited when this came out, only to have my excitement snuffed out.
This was sadly a very Hollywood attempt at D&D. They see a source, then butcher it horribly with nonsense.
Thankfully the newest D&D movie was actually really good, because it was written by geeks.
The reference to Maria, my favorite Blondie song ever, just made my entire 2023 🎉
The Tide is High🔥
among us
I thought it was for the Marina song used as the title for the Stingray TV show. "Marina.. Aquamarina.. Your eyes are blue but your teeth are greener.. "
Personally, I love this movie. Sure, it's not what fans wanted. They wanted a movie that made their hobby look cool and fun. But, I posit, that this movie is actually Peak DnD. It's trashy, it's campy, it's overacted, it's confusing, and for all of that, it's still fun.
There's a meme out there that I like, which shows two photos and one says 'DnD Expectations' and it shows a picture of LotR. And then another that says 'DnD Reality and shows a photo of Monty Python. This movie is that meme in spades.
You've got the DM hamming it up, trying to keep the player interested. You've got that one try-hard player that ALWAYS stays in character. You've got outrageous leaps in thought as players take out of character knowledge and try to give their characters even a flimsy reason for why their character would do such a thing. You want to know why the Dwarf joins the party? Cause it's a bunch of friends sitting around a table and they know that they have to get the party together unless they want to split off into multiple groups and they're there to play with their friends. Character motivation can take a bit of a backseat if it means getting on with the game.
This wasn't a movie about a story from DnD. This was a movie that was about a DnD game and in that right, I feel like the movie killed it.
A really funny, entertaining D&D adaptation is currently in the cinemas.
Jeremy Irons made this movie watchable. His overacting performance was off the chart
It’s glorious
Saw this in theaters at 17 with the guy I was dating and a bunch of our friends. There was only a handful of people in the theater besides us so we could shriek and laugh and crack jokes without getting kicked out. One of the best memories I have of my childhood.
Based
I know this comment is 7 months old but that reminds me of when my party were literally the only people in a showing of the Goblet of Fire. Somehow.
I forgot this existed. Thanks for reopening those old wounds.
I honestly thought this movie was just in my imagination this is the only mention I've seen of it anywhere
Really? Nostalgia Critic and Decker Shado have each done a review on this movie years ago. Decker has even reviewed its sequels. They were some of the first NC and DS movie reviews that I’d ever watched, in fact.
This movie and the original Super Mario Brothers (live action) movie were childhood staples for me, and looking back....that explains a lot
I remember a few years back my friend asked me what this movie was about and as I was trying to explain it to her, I realize I had no idea what I was saying. 😂😂😂
Watching this and Eragon makes me glad I can read, while I weep at the attempt to convert them to screen.
Okay all of the D&D references made me smile.
ngl i COMPLETLY forgot this movie exists
One of the worst and most forgettable movies of 2000
I watched it in a cinema!!!
So the plot is basically a starwars politics thing
We have princesse amidala and chancellor palpatine trying to force the senate to let him do what he wants
I remember watching this movie with a couple of friends and saying I liked this better the first time I saw it in Star Wars early on as a joke and then we started saying it every time it was relevant. It was relevant a lot
Drinking game: Take a shot for every syllable Marlon Wayans utters
Can you do menace ii society next ?
8:37 the good news is “inside the scroll” was actually a deleted scene
Also the dwarf joined the quest because he needed the xp 😂
I can tell half this script was written by someone who plays D&D and another bunch who doesn't.
And I love it.
You think they could've gotten a director who is also an experienced player (or is at least familiar with the game itself)?
Ive been patiently waiting for this time to roll iniative
I'll have you know I watched this movie as a young teen because I was obsessed with dragons and it had the word dragon in the title. As a kid from a small Aussie country town, I didn't even know what Dungeons and Dragons was, and in fact, only learned it existed like 6 years ago.
Omg, I watched a corrupt copy of this movie so I never saw all the details. Thank you sin guys, this one is especially fun for me to watch!
As it should, using the rod of red-dragoning instantly put you in a dungeon no matter how much you just roll with it.
15:40 -- the Bonus Round is always my favorite part of a Cinema Sins video!
“Sharing Earbuds” gets worse every single time. Brilliantly done.
I thought for a second that the death of Snails was going to lead to a sin removal.

4:00 "I feel like I'm always at a disadvantage", The advantage/disadvantage system was first introduced in 5th edition DND which wasnt released until 2014. In older editions you would only add or subtract from your d20 roll to determine an action success based on a variety of factors and the base attribute involved....*ding*
I remember this movie... we mostly put it on to roast in the back ground of a "planning/picking a campaign" type of get together.
I remember when I watched the deleted scenes for this movie I ended up even more confused because they actually filled in several plot holes and made some parts make way more sense. I had no idea why anyone would cut them.
And to think I wanted them to make a Magic The Gathering Legecy movie around this same time starring Arnold S. as Karn.
I think an Ice Age plot would be a great movie. And, yeah glad you didn't get your wish lol
Arnold Stang?
I desperately want a 1:1 remake of this movie with the Dimension 20 cast
This should be a LOT longer
I've been waiting for someone to match the Ichiban audio with Damodar for 23 years now
Jeremy Irons is hilarious and you will quote everything he says.
His hammmy performance is just fantastic 😂😂

0:36 I love that sick burn! xD
This video should be longer than the movies run time Jeremy and you guys know it
Some of the best outtakes I've seen in a Sins video. Well done.
Jeremy Irons sprinkled in a little Gozer the Gozerian during that final battle scene.
yes you can multiclass all the classes and it is amazing!
16:19 HOLD UP! Is that the empress from Never Ending Story, All Grown Up?😂
I'm guessing the empress' chain mail bikini wasn't worth the seconds of screen time to mention it.😂 my sister and I laughed so hard over it.
Surprised how few dungeons and dragons references there were in dungeons and dragons
Genetic fantasy movie that bought marketing rights for D&D
Profion enjoys hamming up in Dungeons and Dragons 2000 movie, atatatatatata!
Every OUNCE OF YOUR RAGE
Not gonna lie, Snails death hit me hard when I first saw it. I was a 5 year child when I saw it, but it still counts.
Loved this video, also looking forward to hopefully the sins for "Honour Among Thieves"
I remember this movie and its thieves with many skill ranks in "Sneak in Broad Daylight" and "Hide Noisily".
(And _Futurama_ made far better use of a beholder when it appeared there.)
I love everything you said leading to Sin Three!
I was quite amused at all the 5th edition sins for a movie that is more closely done in 2nd edition. Also, Jeremy Irons is the only reason to watch this movie.
Dungeons & Dragons (2000) answers the question "What if Eragon had worse effects, cornier acting and a more derivative script?"
I enjoy watching Jeremy Irons chew every bit of scenery in this film
Uploaded 5 minutes ago?!? Whst wonderful timing!😁
I had completely erased this movie from my memory and was happy I did. Now I remember and everything is flooding back. I'm so made at you CinemaSins that I'm going to watch your video.
Richard O'Brien. A maze. A crystal. And no mention of Crystal Maze?
1:48 I can never see blue lipstick without thinking of an episode of Bones (s3e11 Player Under Pressure) where the cheerleaders were giving bjs to the basket ball players under the bleachers! The cheerleaders were all wearing blue lipstick to show their team spirit. Either that or a 1970s p0rn star got her lipstick and eyeshadow mixed up.
I kind like this movie the first time I saw it when I was younger and now it’s feels more like a comedy then action adventure fantasy movie with over and under acting with the stars,it’s hilarious 😂 can’t stop laughing out loud too.
DAMN! That was some primo roasting, right there. Well done.
As soon as I saw the guy with the blue lipstick, I immediately thought of Joey's lipstick for men commercial.
I think the "I'm sorry about snails" line at 17:24 sums up the movie perfectly. It's just WTF?
I've waited to watch Honor Among Thieves before watching this video, and damn, it was a great idea. HAT became an even better movie now!
If Jeremy Irons having way too much fun with his role can't save your movie, then it just wasn't meant to be.
4:00 the movie was made in better time, before darkness of 5e. The concept of "disadvantage" wasnt known by that name yet
Love this film.
Let me feel every ounce of your rage!
Yatatatata!
You're just lying. It's fine, though. Go ahead.
@@chasehedges6775 lmao bruh this comment somehow got Google translated xD
Between this and Eragon I think Jeremy Irons just loves to watch failed high fantasy crash and burn from the inside
Jeremy Irons really knows how to commit to a paycheck
oooooooh a solid "Cube" (1997) reference. i love love love that movie!!!
props to this channel for doing this in about 20 minutes
It just came out lol you guy are really on top of things 💯
2:09 His logic here is very sound. Hell, I’d do it!
The only thing I remembered from this movie was the quicksand carpet.
I had 0 idea this movie existed until this video came out. Looks like a classic!
Just look up the clip of all of Jeremy Irons' lines in this movie. That's all you need to see 😂
Disadvantage wasn't a thing until 5e... When this movie came out, they had just released 3.0...
You know what? I just now got why Doug uses the Dr. Who theme song when they get to the elf healers - Tom Baker is in this movie.
at least we weren't expecting an Indiana Jones outtake for this video, but I did get to see that Lion King Outtake!
Awesome movie choice. I love your videos.
Aksually, the concept of having advantage or disadvantage wasn't added to DnD until 5e, over a decade after this movie came out.
And, if the main character seems to be all the classes, that just makes him a Fighter.
Been waiting for this lol
9:00 I will always laugh at the declaration of this sin. "For whence one doth writeth fantasy, one musteth over ... do ti eth"
The window(S) they climb to is(are) round inside and square outside, as well as having more windows inside than outside.
BUT I STILL LOVE LOVE ALL THE D&D MOVIES
Where the HELL are the sins for Wakanda Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The "I feel I'm always at a disadvantage" line would not work for this movie. Since this movie came out in 2000, the advantage/disadvantaged system had not been introduced into D&D yet. So ha. Take that. I approve my superiority.
They used transmutation spell teleport through time?
