      On a different matter, the Facebook link you provided appears to be broken or something of that nature. It does not work when I click on it. You may want to copy/paste it again. This one here looks the same but it does connect with your FB page: facebook.com/anujakamatofficial/
      Or, instead of "Facebook page link" reduce that to just "Facebook:". The actual link is not complete.

    This is such a gem of a video. Often times ordinary people cannot appreciate classical music because the renowned singers don't make any effort to reach ordinary listeners like me. The biggest problem is lyrics are subpar and more often than not you cannot even make out the words when they are singing. I can only appreciate so much of their layakari and alaps with my untrained ear. If they were to explain the moods of each raaga they are singing and demonstrate it using well known songs it will go long way in attracting young people towards classical music. The young generations still listens to bollywood classics from 50s/60s many of which have strong classical base. So why not present those songs in a classical concert instead of a thumri or tarana.
    That's why I always liked instrumental classic music but not vocal. Only after I found your channel I got to understand basics of classical music and now I have started enjoying vocal as well. Honestly without your channel it would have never happened. Thank You!
    Seriously Anuja you are "Murti lahan pan kirti mahan". (For non-marathi readers the phrase literally means "your achievements are way ahead of your age". Please keep learning and sharing. We all have great expectations from you.

      Bang on. I have felt the same. While I won't say that I have great command on the language but the fact that these singers paid no attention to pronounce the words in an understandable way makes me feel sad. Their reach got reduced only because of this simple yet a profound flaw.

    Anuja you by far are one of the most brilliantly expressive singer I have ever seen. Your body language encapsulates the soul and essence of a Raag just as much as your vocal chords do. Your eyes too trodd upon the intervalic path of a scale just as much as your voice do. I bet you could just sit back in silence and I'll know it by the smile that its Bihag or by the restless motion of your eyes that its sohni. The passivity of your shoulders when its Bhervi. Khuda apko aur ap k ustaad ko khush aur salamat rakhay. Aameen.

      Every shades of music should be welcomed. Classical music will always be there and one should not fear its demise. Narrow mindedness will stagnate our culture.

      And I hope your character will give credit for his knowledge and skill to Indian Classical music? We are so sick of appropriation and the separation of the spiritual aspect of all knowledge so appropriated. Knowledge should be shared but also given credit where credit is due. Just saying.

    • @LadyWervyn
      @LadyWervyn Před 3 lety +10

      @@andalaiyar4457 I'm so sorry, I bet it gets very old seeing it misrepresented! I will say that my book is a fantasy novel set in the early 1400s in a world I'm creating, so there is no actual India, though the place where the character lives is supposed to be an analog for India. But I'm trying to be as culturally sensitive about the topics I don't know as much about, as I learn about different countries in their own "medieval times" all over the world!
      And if I ever write about where my inspiration comes from, I will definitely give credit, including for this! It's such a beautiful tradition and I want to make sure I respect it!
      As I haven't gotten to that book in the story yet, I haven't thought too deeply about it, but running it by an Indian person who actually knows about raags would be a good idea!

I love to watch you teach and hear your excellent command of melody, depicting emotion and passion so precisely even though I have no idea what you are saying. And though I am not a student of music, I am delighted and impressed with your nuance in notes that are not used in most western music.
    I sing, create lyrics and play freestyle, impromptu melodies on the guitar but I can't read music so it is only by ear. I would feel it a pleasing experience and accomplishment to be able to control my voice even a fraction as well as you.

I have started again after a break of 6 years to sit with my harmonium to go back to what I learnt, your videos has helped a lot to revise as well as clarify things my teacher never explained properly. I will try from now onwards to try to feel the rasas and bhaavs encapsulated in the rags. I resented classical greatly because I think no one made me understand the beauty of it. Thank you so much, your passion and love for classical indian music is palpable in your expressions, voice and the immense knowledge that you carry within yourself.

    Wow! Amazing control to be not swayed by one raga while switching to the next one. The connection you made between the ragas and the mood was very well dramatized. Maybe they should give you a gig as a music director, playback singer, and the lead actress! You’ll do it all so well:). Thanks for the video - keep ‘em coming.

    One question: i try to play some song on various mobile phone keyboard apps but not able to do so without knowing the notes. Can you explain some trick for playing songs on keyboard apps for noobs like us, if it is at all possible?

    • @rythmx8339
      @rythmx8339 Před 4 lety +8

      U will have to practice basic musical exercise and train ur EAR ( most important )...
      To play any song on ur own requires " ear training " which comes only by practice and gradually.. ( no shortcut , except to get notation directly )
      All utube videos which claim for 1 day or 1 week are fake !
      Good luck

    • @princesolanki5914
      @princesolanki5914 Před 2 lety +1

      Definitely you can play
      You just have to practice through trial and error method just pick any song try to find it's notes by hitting any two notes until you find similar one then you will automatically find all the notes
      I also faced same difficulty earlier I can't play without searching the notes now i can find any song's notes just within 2-3 miniutes and that too by trial and error method main difficulty is the starting notes after that you can play in flow it automatically comes in mind.

    • @princesolanki5914
      @princesolanki5914 Před 2 lety

      @@rythmx8339 definitely it's the most important step when we listen to all the notes again and again it automatically stores in our mind then we can easily find them in any song
