- The Israeli military has said a series of 'grave mistakes' led to a drone strike on an aid convoy that killed seven workers in Gaza.
Among those killed in the strike were three British nationals -- James Henderson, John Chapman and James Kirby.
They were all part of the World Central Kitchen's security team and were delivering aid to civilians in Gaza, according to the charity.
Military analyst Sean Bell discusses with Sky's Kamali Melbourne.

This was a deliberate. A message was that anyone who is willing to provide aid will be targeted. Also, it was successful . Aid got stopped.

Aid will begin again soon and aid workers now know they will be safe as the Israelis will never be able to justify a second "mistake".
For this reason I am convinced that the attack was actually a mistake (or the result of the irresponsible decision of a commander on the battlefield) and was not decided by Israeli leaders.

Yes, targeted to discourage aid workers from operating in Gaza, thereby systematically starving its people.
Every army makes mistakes in warfare. How many Americans and allied troops did the USA kill in Iraq in 1991 and 2003? Quite a lot. It happens with poor intel and poorly disciplined troops. Israel's targeting procedures in Gaza are pretty open - if they kill ten or twenty civilians to get one "suspected Hamas operative", that's a good result for them. If there were innocent, they just say "meh - they were only arabs, so who cares". They have killed at least 3 of their own hostages trying to be rescued, and probably many more through aerial bombardment. If that's the effort they put into saving their own people, then imagine how little they put into saving Palestinian civilians. Evidently, not very much!
Just think what happened if aid workers were killed in Ukraine by the Russian strike.

that's what he said in this video too. It was an accident in identifying a valid target, not an accident in firing the weapon at a different target and accidentally hitting the wrong one. They hit the target correctly, but got the wrong target accidentally. Intention is important.

So the IDF did NOT fire on the northbound vehicle with visibly armed militants, but did fire on the southbound vehicles with no militants. Did this northbound vehicle even exist??
Journalists were shown at least some of the video footage, so yes, the fourth vehicle did exist apparently.
The northbound vehicle was also WCK apparently which then headed towards another area to do further drops of aid whereas the other 3 were headed back the way they came. But if THIS now differing from spokesperson to spokesperson story was to be believed, why after the 1st 3 targets did they not then go back for the 4th? The one full of gunmen, who they didn’t target as they may have destroyed some of the aid which was very close. These people are uncontrollable. They take and speak of lives they’ve taken as if it is just another day in the office!

It's much easier to see a silhouette or a shape on a thermal image than to read letters or logos on the roof of a moving vehicle. Bear in mind the strike was at night, so drone pilots would not have great visual fidelity with night-vision cameras.
Even then, the image quality was poor enough to not be able to differentiate between a shoulder bag and a weapon, so it's clearly not good enough to make a kill / no-kill decision. They were just trigger-happy and don't care enough about killing the wrong people.

No effort was made to warn the depot or check if the gunman was part of the Aid security detail, the IDF would have been informed about the british security services employed by the Aid organisation. No gunman was identified two hours later, leaving the depot and getting in the van. Obviously the IDF new it was a Aid depot. It is unbelievable that the IDF did not knowingly target Aid workers.

Why didn't the windows break?
Two of the 3 vehicles were armoured and the warhead on the missile may have been small enough to blow open the doors but not shatter the armoured glass.
I did notice that one of the vehicles had the interior upholstery intact, implying there was no fire. This might indicate a Hellfire "flying Gyoza knife" missile that has no explosive, but opens up multiple blades to destroy a target with kinetic energy and penetrating wounds.
Either way, this is a pretty nasty way to die, albeit probably quite quick. I'm surprised that there were survivors in the first 2 strikes who were still able to run to the other vehicles in the convoy. It must have been a desperate situation.

Those 3 UK security staff would never have let any weapons or threats near that aid convoy. They would have been vigilant to that sort of that stuff. There needs to be an independent investigation and testimonies from staff in and around that warehouse.

A rare, good interview and content from Sky News. A quick question for all the media. Why is every picture of the Palestinian's standing around show healthy people and not a starving population. While I do not doubt that some are starving, it seems to be due to internal power struggles (Hamas, clan leaders) and greed of fellow Palestinian's.
