God bless you I had no idea of a couple things that you mentioned there I just got my 1976 Cadillac Eldorado and I love it I can't wait to get it to be reliable and on the road thanks again hope you make more videos I think I'll make a few videos myself these cars are just incredible!
Just found this channel. If anyone needs any help with these beauties just let me know in the comments and I would be happy to help. I just bought my 1976 Ember Glow Firemist convertible with 48k 2 years ago after looking for one for nearly 30. I have pulled almost every part off, cleaned, greased, and reassembled including the gut. Sadly I did not know about this channel then so I had to learn everything the hard way with endless research. I now have a shop manual for those that do not or can not find one in case you need technical information.
@@westofthelakecadillacclub I will keep that in mind. It would seem that most of the parts for this car are up by you. There are very few if any parts by me here in Kansas City. I find that I need to depend on eBay and nationwide Craigslist. I have one or two parts on FB. I am looking for a parts car but the shipping costs are incredible.

Do you have any information on the twin gasket assembly for the final drive cover? Not sure where to find gaskets for my 77 eldorado. Thanks! Love your videos
czcams.com/video/MRZWaWZZqAY/video.html this is a good video explaining ‘how to’, as to where to buy them, try opgi.com rockauto.com or Napa.com Thanks for watching!
Yes, that can be done. You will need to measure the size of the belt that you will need because it will not be listed as a part number AC was standard on all of those cars.
Hi Tim: Thanks for writing. What part of the world are you in? There are many sources for Cadillac parts, some new and some used. Some can be overpriced, so you need to shop around. As for repairs, your first investment should be in a 1972 Cadillac Shop Manual, that has everything you’ll need to fix the car (except the tools), even a vacuum line chart. The Freon that was in the car from the factory was R-12, most people in the US convert the system to R-134a. There are several different methods but all work fairly well. Feel free to reach out to westofthelakeclc@gmail.com and we can get you started.
Parts are a scavenger hunt. New parts can be found at www.OPGI.com , www.thepartsplace.com and www.rockauto.com . NAPA is also helpful, for used parts it eBay or Facebook marketplace.
I own a 1976 ELDORADO convertible with 37000 miles on it , car is in a near new condition except the foam in driver seat is in need to be replaced or added to get the firmness back in driver seat . Any suggestions?
Yes, I had good luck taking the trim off the upper side of the seat and unclipping the leather from the frame. I then took cotton batting and pushed it in using one of those metal parts grabbers that can pick up a bolt like a claw machine. Then I put everything back as original. If that won’t give you enough firmness, you would have to go to an upholstery shop and have them use a foam to your liking. The cotton did a pretty good job for me. Thanks for writing!
@@westofthelakecadillacclub We build them with as much torque as we can get out of them at 3000rpms(Airboats) because the propellers we use cant pass 3200ish or they will reach the speed of sound and bad things happen. So we set the pitch so the motor full open throttle cant pass that rpm, Like a governor,. 472s/500s are the strongest engines for an airboat that is direct drive off the crank The rest have to use a gearbox to perform like the caddys. Breaking in a 1975/500 this week that our guess before dyno will be at 575 ft torque at that3000 rpm.. Cad company has an airboat cam that will deliver the most torque. How much does that white whale weigh? My son took a 72 Coupe DeVille on a ski trip out west to complete his senior thesis. He lived in it for 2 months. Every time he crossed the boarder into Canada and back they would search the car for dope. They would throw everything out of the car. He would pick up his clothes and skis and leave behind a weeks worth of smelly fast food bags and cups.

Does anyone know of it’s possible to terminate the AC compressor and run a belt from the power steering pump straight to the crank?
Yes, that can be done. You will need to measure the size of the belt that you will need because it will not be listed as a part number AC was standard on all of those cars.

5,153 pounds; a little more with smelly fast food bags and cups, even more depending on how much the dope weighs. Thanks for watching.😁
