- Happy New Year! I'm Aja Dang and in my very first video of 2019 I'm sharing with you my January 2019 budget. I think the most important part of this video is my debt flow chart - a visual representation of how to track your debt snowball. As I only have my student loan left to pay, I wanted to put this flow chart together to help me stay motivated to achieve my financial goals.

I don't have any student loan debt, but for some reason, I've been so interested in watching your student loan journey. It might be because recently I've been so put off by youtube and feeling like there's no genuineness or creativity anymore. You've inspired me at 19 to become more financially literate and educate myself on finances and budgeting. I've been binge watching Dave Ramsey because of you, and I just ordered the book. Also I just got my mom hooked on his videos, books, and programs he recommends to help her start the business she's always wanted to! So thank you so much, I'm still in college and I've got a long way to go and so much to learn. But I'm here on your journey with you and I'm also excited to start mine!
the fact that you're already paying attention to your financial future means your years ahead of many people! Congrats
big mood
Awesome
Happy New Year Aja, last year you had 200k of debt and now you're at 120k? That is amazing. Keep it up, your diligence is very inspiring and I'm confident that this time next year you'll have it all paid off.
You are doing such an unbelievable job paying that debt!! SO inspiring! We have struggled for years with just paying our bills, staying afloat. Just this past month my husband got a better job, better pay. We paid our rent on time this morning, paid off a small credit card yesterday. Got him a new car to drive back and forth to work! (he's been driving a van with almost 200,000 miles on it to a job 70 miles every day!) It's nice to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, isn't it?
I was having coffee with a friend and we were talking about our debt and payment plan, financial plans for 2019, and she mentioned how she was really inspired by you for her student loan payment plan. I think you've really made it okay to talk about loans and debt and I am more at ease speaking about it with friends and family and we can encourage each other.
Crush it Aja! Happy New Year!
graduated college in december and came across your videos at around the same time. I always thought that student debt would just be a thing that lingers for the rest of your life and that I'd probably pay the minimum every month and just continue to ignore it until i die. but 2 months later, i just made my first $1,000 payment towards my $45k loan!! Watching your journey gave me a reality check at just the right time!
Can you make a video about how you use to spend your money before and the mistakes you made, if you haven't done so already. I know you mentioned that some people might not feel they can relate because you do make a lot now, but that wasn't always the case and this year was the year in which you decided to make more to cover your debts. So maybe a review on how you made and spent money in 2017, 2016 will be helpful in seeing the progression, and mindset switch.
Aja!!! Happy New Year.
I paid off my car yesterday, it felt so good! U inspire me so much. I’ve watch your journey and you motivate me to be a smarter person with my money. I will aggressively pay off my $80k student loans in 2019. Can’t wait to see our progress towards Financial Freedom!! It’s nice to the finish line in the horizon. 💋💋💋
Love your video Tiffany!
I came across your channel after discovering Dave Ramsey this past summer. Since the fall, I've been chipping away at my student loans with a vengeance and just dumped $20k into my loans this past weekend too! (So much for those New Year's sales…they're not as life changing as doing away with this burden will be!) I've now got $25k left to go and I can see the end in sight after six years of minimum payments, or even worse, deferring. I've been lucky enough to be self-employed for most of my career as a designer, but that comes without a consistent salary which makes it difficult to predict when the money is coming in. I've made obliterating my student loans priority number one though. And, it's definitely motivating to see such honesty and transparency in your videos about your goals, so thank you. You are not alone, and I don't feel like I am either. We got this!!!
Charita Patamikakorn wow that’s amazing! You got this!
Aja girl, you have been so inspiring to me and I have been on this debt free journey with you. We are all cheering you on!
Happy New Year Aja! You inspired me to buy the Passion Planner, and to also map out my goals. Watching your financial journey too (I have debts to pay off, although only small you've made me realise this is the year to CLEAR THEM).I am going to draw a financial payment map in my diary too. Have a great new year!
just recently discovered Aja's account and I am already a big fan! thanks for being refreshing and transparent, Aja!
I'm rooting for you, rooting for myself, rooting for all of us! Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us Aja!
Your financial journey videos are by far my favorite amongst all your content. I adore your honesty and tenacity. You will kill it this year 🖤🖤🖤
I cant wait for your debt free scream!!
It happened 😭
I'm going to start this journey with you! I have about $80k in student loans. I will be looking for a second job once I finish orientation at my current job to help facilitate more funds! Because I really want to get on with my life. LET'S DO THIS!
Happy Onion why are you so negativity? tf shut up if you don’t have anything encouraging to say to them .
@@cheesecakesmellsgood It was definitely worth it. Have a good day.
Visual representation is definitely a motivator for me. A new year is a natural goal-starter for me, too. Thank you for being so open about your financial journey, the ups and the downs. I cannot wait to celebrate with you when you get to colour in that freedom block. Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year! I love your flowchart it looks like a little game and it’s very engaging. Love to see that you’re kicking off the year strong
Thank you for being so raw and honest about your journey! I've been on my own repayment journey(started with $82,000 in debt, now currently just under $35,000) and I wish your videos were around when I first hit rock bottom. You and Dave Ramsey keep me on the road to financial freedom on the days when it gets tough. I wish you and anyone else on this journey a highly successful 2019. Let's hit those goals!!
Happy New Year, Aja! I'm ROOTING for you. I believe you'll be debt free this yr. God bless you hun! 💖💖
Flowchart is a great idea! I have 110k left in private school loans. But I paid like 30k the last two years. Go Aja go!
Christina Lauren you killin it
@@SociallyChrissyTV thank you!! I am definitely trying. It can be really discouraging, but one day itll be worth it!
Christina Lauren that’s great! You got this😊 don’t give up and keep going
Have a great year Aja! Being debt free is an outstanding goal.
Happy New Year! Watching your financial videos keep me motivated to take my personal finance more seriously. Also love your sinking fund approach
I love how open you are about your finances. I am a nursing student now so budgeting is pretty hard. I get pretty overwhelmed thinking of having to pay back loans when I am done. I have some other debts I need to take care of as well. I went through a divorce (that was fun). Sometimes life takes some very unexpected turns. I getting heart palpitations just thinking about finances. I can't wait to have some financial freedom.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your videos! I have a much smaller debt amount to pay off, but it is still a lot for me to handle. You have given tons of helpful advice and insight on how I can tackle it and I’m so grateful for that!
I feel like I'm paying this loan WITH you haha, but instead i'm going to use your visual map towards my exercise and life goals. Wish us both a good journey together.
Cindy a visual map is great for ANYTHING! I’m sure a lot of Bullet Journal CZcamsrs can give you some inspiration
Happy new year from Spain, Aja!! Oh my goddess!! 20k??!! You are such a beast!!! I’m so happy for you, girl. I don’t have any loan but somehow I got very interested about the way you are dealing with this. I think you are doing great and you are showing people how they can fix their financial situation. I wish you the very best. Love and light.
You are glowing!! I LOVE UR HAIR, QUEEN
Just finished my 2019 budget. Let’s go! 💪🏾
AJAAAAAAAA ! i am so motivated and hopeful for 2019, GOODLUCK FOR YOUR JOURNEY!
Yasss girl! I can't believe it we have similar goals when it comes to budgeting. Its nice to not feel like I am alone in this journey as well. Go 2019!!! Keep going girl.
You got it girl! Happy New Year!
Happy new year, Aja! I’m in the middle of starting a bullet journal and I’m definitely adding that financial freedom spread. I have a goal of being 💯 free of my student loans too by next year - let’s getttttt it
Happy New year!! Congrats on paying that chunk of cash on loans in December! My big goal of 2019 is paying off my federal loans which originally totaled about 32k and I have it at 30k right now. Let's do this!!
I love your spirit Aja! It is inspiring and I am looking forward to this new year
love the financial freedom chart! been having trouble figuring out a way for me to track my payments toward my journey towards paying off my debt for financial freedom in my bullet journal and you've inspired me to make a chart of my own! Here's to 2019!! :D
Hi Aja! Still obsessed with these finance and budget videos. You inspire me to get my freelance and financial shit together. Sorry if I’ve missed it in your other videos, could you share a little more about being broke in your 20s, what shifted, what you did differently once you decided to get your shit together, and how you handle savings whilst paying down all this debt??
😂 A lot, I know. No pressure, but that would make SUCH a difference to get an insight on. You killin’ it girl. Hope you are feeling a little better since your last video!
Good luck for 2019! You can do it! Thanks for the inspo. I've had some shit hitting the fan over the last few days to do with money, but I'm going to get some advice this morning. I'm scared and I hate it, but I'm putting in the action and taking care of myself. So your videos mean a lot. Lots of love from London, Jx
Your hair looks really good!
Love these videos. They really help me with my plan for my finances.
Happy new year Aja! Thanks for the inspo!
Aja! excited for your content/projects this year! Even though its something simple, I "try" to go by an advice my mom taught me... "maintenance" spending can be lessened. (getting your hair/nails done, facials, spas, massages, etc) can definitely be minimized. Cutting it down every once in a while as much as you can helps you save a lot of $$. treat yourself but also treat yourself wiser
PS the hair looks amazing
I am now ready to pay off my debts, I did not read Dave Ramsey but I am weirdly following his principles by pure logic, its great and less stressful especially the emergency fund. Its amazing. I too have large amounts of student debt and like you I am sure you did not want to work a job you hated while paying it off. Power of positive thinking is so cheesy, but so accurate. Thanks for your honesty, you are inspiring me and other millennial (everyone for that matter) that you can conquer your debts quick and swiftly. You're a goddess.
This was so beyond motivating, Aja. You're going to smash your December goal.
Love all your budget videos, Aja! We got this! You are beautiful inside out. We got this!!!
I'm so inspired!!! I'm currently in college and you're inspiring to be smarter with my money so I don't take on too many loans!!
Happy New Year. You got this!
Qapital is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I'm becoming more financially literate and responsible by following you!
December 31, 2018 I made my LAST student loan payment!!! I came into 2019 completely debt-free. I cannot even explain the excitement and accomplishment that I feel! I can't wait for you to feel the same things. You are rocking it. I have no doubt you will be able to tackle this and stay on track.
Hey Aja!i love your videos!have a very happy and productive new year 2019!
I feel it tooo! Good vibes and positivity!
Happy New Year Aja ! We got this
Love your videos 🙌🏼 they inspired me to start paying off debt... from starting a savings account to paying off debt! just waiting to get paid this week to pay off my final credit card and then will work towards my student loans

Yay! Great video! Happy New Year ♡
I love your Financial Freedom page that’s definitely a motivated way to look at paying off debt
This is gonna be a great year for all of us
Happy new year, Aja! 💜
Good luck with your journey Aja, so inspiring. Wow, the cost to go to uni in the US is insane.
Tbf, usc is especially known to be a super expensive school. From where i grew up, it’s known as university for spoiled children :P lol
@@orangejmoothies hah I see
I can't wait to see your video when you're debt free later this year!
Happy new year Aja 🍾💕🎶🍀I wish you an amazing 2019 💕🍾🎶🍀
I love the chart :) I am going to work on my own chart tomorrow and put it up on one of my wall as a reminder. Congrats on paying off twenty more thousands 🎉🎉🎉
I have faith that you will finish paying off your debt by December. Best of luck to you ❤
Happy New Year!

happy new year aja :) im a 22 year old full time student and just joined the personal finance/debt free community on instagram. thank you for sharing your journey, you're so inspiring. love from malaysia xx
Am doing your financial journey marathon 😍
You are doing soooo great 👍 with your debt !!!! Look 👀 at how far you’ve come !!! If you think 🤔 back 2-3 years you would never have even paid $80,000 towards your debt !!
You should be soooo proud of yourself !!!!
Don’t do it for us but do it for yourself is the most important thing !!! 😘😘😘😘
woot woot.. .first time I have seen 2019 on the youtube date.
Finances on fleek, hair on fleek and skin on fleek... what more could a gal ask for? Cheers to you!
WE got this!
Legit throwing a party when you become debt-free!
i love the chart! If you're OCD like me, I like to make it into a shape where if I didn't fill in a blank I would feel unsettled. Kind of like those pictures that have one little color off or one thing facing the wrong direction. Lol...it's like messing with myself to motivate me. :) You've done an awesome job of getting that darn student loan debt down!
From an accounting perspective, I don't know how you have your business set up tax-wise, but I think that will/should be able to "save" you money if it's being categorized and reported correctly. From a budgeting perspective, if you REALLY want to make your December goal, here's what I would recommend: 1) figure out your monthly expenses for your bills and food and going out and only leave that in your checking account to spend 2) get your sinking funds for the ENTIRE YEAR and start dumping money into that (this includes your doggies costs, your beauty treatments, etc) 3) everything else going into the debt. 4) i promise, if you can work backwards like this you can even pay off that debt sooner. Good luck! :)
Great job! Your skin and hair are so beautiful!
Gosh. I’ll scream when you make that 120k this year. Good lord girl! Even the 80k last year are SO impressive! Awesome (your hair looks fab btw)
I love this look Aja, you look so pretty
I feel it in my fingers. I feel it in my toes. The new year is all around me. And so the feelings grow. Lol.
I got the popcorn ready
Hi Aja, thank you for inspiring me to prepare my 2019 goal list! Would you consider discussing budgeting as a couple? Give us some advice on managing finances when living with a significant other? Have a great 2019!!! :)
Karolina K we are working on that lol. I just got brian to listen to Dave Ramsey podcast yesterday so I’m planting the seeds
You got this!
Oh we have the same birthday! Haha one year apart! Hehe happy birthday month!!
thanks for sharing happy new year
I wish you an amazing 2019 Aja and I wanna take the time to thank you for your incredible channel ❤️ I love you so much and I'd love to give something back and that's why I wanna recommend you some super cool chill out music: Benedict Ammann - Love ain't cheap
This song always cheers me up so I hope you'll enjoy it for a good start into 2019 as well ❤️
When you do the laser treatment please do a review of where you went and your experience!
I really admire your channel and thank you for introducing me to dave ramsay! I am curious if you could do a video about your spending habits -- I get that you make way more than the average person, but why do you still spend thousands on things like 'black friday", pricey food, and a super expensive apartment? In another video you mentioned wanting to save up for a designer bag. I am genuinely curious how you think about these choices since most that go down the dave ramsay path seem to become more "beans and rice", and realize they aren't as interested in material things. It is interesting to see you forge your own path and I suppose you have the financial means. I love your channel!!
Your hair is amazing here and also what is that lipstick you’re wearing??
Im on a no buy for the year and it is definately hard. But i look at it as a chance to enjoy the clothes and makeup i already own and focus on purchasing my home by the end of the year.
Woo, Dave Ramsey! My main man 🎉
I feel like this is going to be a challenging year, but the best year :)
We are doing a no spend year as well. We are trying to knock off some financial goals
Can I ask a personal question? Do you pay most of the bills (including rent) just incase you would have to do it on your own one day? I think this would be a good topic for you to cover for women who want independence and non dependence on others... true financial freedom? just a thought :) love your content :)
Naturally Simple great video idea. We split the bills pretty evenly but I do have $12,000 in an emergency fund just in case...
What eat in a day and workout routine 2019
I am doing a No spend January!
I don't usually commment + I'm a new subbie. You've inspired me to get serious about my debt and finances this year. I have $80000 in credit card and student loan debt combined and I'm just done. I'm working to increase my income and have multiple sources, etc., Just saying you've inspired ya girl! I am really interested to know how you created your financial freedom chart. Could you do a video on that or put a link of one you've already done. Thank you! #startinglate but at least I'm starting💗
What kind of planner are you using and where would I be able get it. Love your videos btw😍😍
Hey Aja! Would you do a video about the different budgeting apps/services you’ve tried? I’d love to see a comparison between Qapital, Everydollar, Mint, doing it by hand, etc!
Do you have a video over your banking / sinking accounts?
