  • Cajun cardboard is a CZcams channel featuring basketball card collecting and investing, fantasy basketball content and general historical and modern NBA Basketball content. I AM ALWAYS LOOKING TO BUY SPORTSCARD COLLECTIONS. No collection is too large or too small.
    I do not charge subscriptions, but there are a few ways you can generously support this channel and the Cajun Cardboard brand:
    1) SELL your sportscards/comics/memorabilia on the PWCC Marketplace weekly or premier auctions and use my promo code CAJUN (all capital letters) when submitting.
    2) Purchase a Michael Jordan Hierarchy Poster. These posters are high gloss full sized 2-sided posters reflecting all 378 Michael Jordan cards and their pack odds on the back. The posters are $75 shipped fed ex with tracking # for the first poster but each additional poster is only $10 (domestic USA shipping only). For instance 4 posters would be $105 total shipping included.
    3) Click (or cut and paste) this link below to donate to the improvement of the channel through PAYPAL:

    His cards are just hot potatoes . Nobody is actually collecting them or they would get killed financially. They are going to drop a lot in the next year no matter what he does. There just won't be enough demand to sustain it.

    Love the analysis - fantastic. He did get robbed of DPOY, no doubt. I bought in on 2022-23 Bowman Chrome University Prospect Auto BGS Pristine 10 last August. The value has held up over the past year and even gone up. The Pop count is 6. I also cannot do any of Wemby's Panini cards due to incredibly high pop counts and high cost to buy in.

    @0SULLYW Před 3 dny +1

    Just a potential option here, but considering how perfect nearly every Wemby is, PSA is almost LOOKING for a reason to give his cards a 9… I went through & bought up a bunch of Wembys along with a few other players across different sports all in PSA 9’s, (I carefully looked them over & was very picky of course), I Went 12 for 16 turning 9’s to 10’s… if you were to buy 3-5 PSA 9’s & resub them all, you’re going to get AT LEAST 1 GEM - then you just dump the others getting you in at a reasonable price point…

    I agree, Cajun, on he got robbed of Defensive Player of the Year. I don't own any Wemby. Hopefully, I can hit at least 1 out of all the Prizm sealed boxes I have. I can't justify paying that much for a card at the moment.

    He's going to be a GOAT as long as he doesn't get injured. The league is promoting him, his team is behind him, and he appears to have the emotional maturity and desire to be great. The talent is also off the charts. I think the prices are fair right now.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  Před 2 dny +1

      Brenton I agree with everything except the last sentence. Compare his prices to what you could buy in Lebron and MJ. Thats where it stops making sense.

      @@cajuncardboard the only things I attribute that to is if people think he can become better than those guys and break more records/championships etc. Or people are willing to pay a premium on top of the 'potential goat' premium so they can enjoy having his cards while his career is playing out (You get more utility out of cards while the player is playing). I'm sure by the time he retires his cards will start to come down. Like all legends' cards do.

    I love the Alien, but there's no way I have Vic above Rudy for the Defensive MVP.
    For starters there's the record.
    For second, I think you have Rudy around a LOT better of a team in general, the fact he stands out on the best defensive team in the league is huge as opposed to a guy who has to do basically everything, he's going to look a bit more gaudy.
    ADD TO IT, usually MVP is the best player on the best team, Im not sure how defensive MVP isn't the best player(defensively) on the NBA's best defense in the league

    I also have to say if he really turns out to be what many people so optimistically predict, then even with his ridiculous number of cards they could easily retain their value for a good period of time, possibly even go up… I know it’s blasphemy to compare but look at Jordan cards, you can get $100 for the bottom of the barrel BS PSA 10.. if you are really that guy, which there has only ever been 1 in basketball, you of all people know well the market possibilities of such a talent..

    I’ve seen Wemby White Sparkle cards pulled in a player break with 50 packs, Wemby spot sold for $7,800, and the guy pulled 2 white sparkle and an est value of $16,000 per Wemby. So once a new product with Wemby pops out, he’s the guarantee chase. I saw his Prizm base raw that sold upwards to $200 on release day, now you’ll be lucky to get $50 for his Prizm base and Gem Mint 10 for only $150 now, too, so I stay away from those chase breaks just to score a wemby cuz it can cost u an arm and leg.

  • @juhosevic
    @juhosevic Před 2 dny +1

    There are just way too many Wemby silver/parallel prizms out there. I know it’s without the Spurs name, but I think his bowman university auto will hold some value as a ‘prospect’ card down the line and first obtainable auto. His Allen and ginter portrait auto is a low key, sneaky nice card - on card auto on a Topps product. The unlicensed Topps chrome auto will def put up big numbers and curious to see how that will do. The fake, counterfeit base prizm Wembys that surfaced scares me… supposedly can’t tell the difference and wouldn’t be surprised if there are fake silvers in psa slabs. I’m personally waiting but would like to buy into some of his cards at some point. I’m waiting to see how the unlicensed Topps chrome fares vs prizm

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  Před 2 dny +1

      I don’t see how any of the cards can even maintain their price post release let alone rise. I just don’t see it. Too many options. Too many printed.

    • @juhosevic
      @juhosevic Před 2 dny

      I do feel the Bowman U chrome 1st autos (especially green or gold) will hold some value. It’s a Topps product, unofficial ‘prospect’ with the 1st logo, SSPs and had hype with the “1st card I ever signed thing”. Problem is I’d buy any grade Jordan flair showcase row 0 over these at the moment lol

      That’s correct but you can certainly compare. We compare LeBron to Jordan and Westbrook to Oscar Robertson and Shaq to Embiid and Jokic to bird. Happens every day. You just have to recognize the differences with spacing and pace of play and rule changes. It’s a factor but it’s not the only factor.

      @@cajuncardboard correct but PSA just like Panini is pretty much running and ruining the hobby because people have got it in their heads that a card is not as valuable simply because PSA didn't tell them that their card wasn't nice enough according to them to be valuable. Value for a card shouldn't be dependent only on money but to the real hobbyist it's about the love of the hobby, the memories and the emotions one gets of pulling or buying a nice card of their favorite athletes. PSA just like Panini has a lot to do with the hobby being ridiculously expensive at times and out of reach for many.

      As long as Wemby continues to live up to his potential, wins championships, mvp awards, defensive player of the year awards and dominate his way to become one of the goats if not the goat, there will always be demand for his rookie cards especially his parallels. The market was flooded with Lebrons when he came into the league and look at the value of his rookie cards regardless. The demand for his second year cards and beyond will diminish, but trust me, the demand for all his rookies will be sustainable as long as he continues to pave his way to goat status. You will eventually regret not getting his rookies now cuz this will be the lowest they will ever be. Basketball cards are global, not just here in the states….
