I'm not yet in the market for SLS -- I'm more of a resin-head... but I'm so happy you all exist and are working to drive down the prices so aggressively. It fills me with hope that SLS will come down to the price of a high-end FDM printer some day, and make it a no-brainer to snag one for the shop :).
Thank you for all your hard work!
Hello, why inside printer camera you use hepa filters instead of electrostatic filters with water, which do not need consumables in the form of hepa filters?
@@caeli5532 electrostatic filters will be much more expensive, consume power and are probably a lot bigger.
@@spankeyfish NO))) try to find in Yt videos "Electrostatic precipitator filter" and "DIY Electrostatic Precipitator With Liquid Electrode Test Chamber". I talk about electrostatic filters for home use, not for industrial application.
Thank YOU for making SLS more accessible!
accessible SLM would be amazing, but SLS is fine for now :D
The world needs more engineers like you. Thank you for all your work on this. I wish I was in a place to buy one now.
I found this about 4 months after I bought both a resin and a filament printer. Wish I had known about this I would have ordered it instead lol
@@Tinmann_77 no, sls is more expensive and you can almost so everything with a resin or fdm printer
I have to admit, after an hour I was expecting more than a little cross shaped object.
Only time I've ever been excited to watch an unboxing
It's not an unboxing. Starting the machine and using it is something else.
@@REDxFROG Beginning of video: Box. End of video: No box. Counts as unboxing for us 😉😉
Looking forward to the day those boxes show up at my house.
Have you already ordered?
@@user-gs7tq8iz5p not yet. I'd like to though.
same
Wow...... finally accessible sls for the hobbyist! Thank you so much for working on this and providing it to the community
The oils on your fingers might be bad for the lamps.
The oil is there to make you comment and drive up engagement
@@micronics3d more oil please!🤪
@@micronics3dplease for the love of god tell me this is the truth 😂
@@micronics3d thanks for the respectful reply.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll be submerging mine in a vat of extracted human finger oil before use
this is probably the one tech product ive been most excited about since the Valve Index, this is cool as heck!
I am beyond excited about this product! Been wanting an SLS printer for a while, can't wait to order one!!!
Incredibly excited to see where this goes, this could be a game changer for so many parts
This is incredible. The thought that you’ve put into its design, the extractor coming as standard. I’m so excited for the future of printing. This is a tad out of my price range at the moment, but I can’t wait!
I would love to see print comparisons to resin and FDM parts.
what a blast to see innovation like this at this price point
Freakin BALLER! i'm so pumped i was planning on X1C, but i have to send files off to be SLS printed anyway.
With this I can still use my Ender 3 for POF and the Micron for final products. ALL BY MYSELF!
Get both; any Bambu will be upgrade you won't regret, but this, while a tad janky in a few places, is definitely looking very compelling.
really impressive engineering. this guy is the Vitalik of SLS
but is he as hung?
Too bad he isn't the Charles Hoskinson of SLS, then it would be even better.
@@JustinCiriello Definitely not!
Nah because this guys invention actually has a clear and tangible use case..
You should think about providing some white cotton gloves for installing the bulbs. Oil from your fingers can burn onto the bulb.
Use a nose clean tissue or a piece of toilette paper or similar.... good catch i had the same thought
Thought the same thing. But also excited about the development.
These lamps don’t have the reflective layer of gold that is especially susceptible to damage from oil like the EOS lamps have.
@@yerand59 No halogen lamps should be touched with bare hands. It's known to shorten their lifetime. The oil from your fingers burns onto the glass and then absorbs the infrared causing a hotspot on the tube(as far as i can remember).
I've used them for 30 years. Just give them a wipe with a little alcohol on a paper towel when you finished installing them. It's as simple as that.
what you guys doing is amazing and also amazingly simple. great work and I wish you all the success you deserve ❤
This is actually completely jaw dropping levels of design, just for the UX alone.
Love the energy! Incredible work!!
Probably the best breakthrough I have seen for years consumer avaiablity without the high pricing.
This is so exciting and incredible. Congrats on this amazing product and innovation! I would love to get my hands on it one day.
Bro, I don’t have enough for one of these right now but your energy in the videos makes this a great watch
This is freaking awesome! ❤
WE NEED MORE! :) Awesome
I am SO excited for this
Love the multifunctional accessories
This is passion, it oozes out of every crevice of the design and function.
My small business needs this!
Very cool! Actually a bit less complex than I was expecting. Looking very promising.
I saw your other video and went to check out the printer and everything was "SOLD OUT" "SOLD OUT" "SOLD OUT" LOL Hell yeah dude! Good job!
It's pre-release, coming soon on Kickstarter :)
Very interesting device, wishing you guys the best for this product to take the market by storm
I wish I had a good use case for one of these so I could justify buying it. It's clear a lot of thought went into this product. Seems very polished, great job helping bringing SLS printing pricing down closer to the consumer market.
My god, yall really found a way to make what is basically advertising be exciting.
Love it ❤
Keep you the great content and hope to own one of these printers in the future 🔥👍
this is really a thoughtful design at each level, time to preorder i guess
You're gunna change the 3D printing game with this thing dude.....
Amazing job
This is GOOD for its price point, your going places :)
Pretty cool - is the Kickstarter going to be more of a traditional Kickstarter where the money is used for production and it takes a few years, or is it more of a 'preorder' kind of Kickstarter where you already have production lined up and the printer would probably ship even as early as this year?
It's more a traditional one since we are not VC backed. All the R&D is already done so we can expect to ship 8-12 months after the campaign.
@@micronics3dhope you guys have funding to ship in 24-36 months. I have yet to see anything in this arena hit their target. I'd plan for 3 years, even if that means raising the price, than expect one year and have everybody lose. Not hating, I pray to the printer gods this works out.
@@micronics3d I can tell you that I for one will be backing you. and I dont think you guys will have a problem reaching your funding goal.
This looks awesome, BUT! You touched the halogen bulb with your fingers! It just about made me scream out loud.
lol.... were old!
Explain this one to me; is that a safety problem? Is the part very fragile?
google it@@Bletotum
@@Bletotum the oil causes uneven heating of the bulb glass, so the expansion(heating)/contraction (cooling) rate is different from the untouched glass - during one of the cycles - pop!
He did it to trigger people like you to comment. Many youtubers make such "small mistakes" on purpose to drive engagement
Cant freaking wait to buy one of these.
This is so cool, love what you are doing for SLS at home! You're becoming the Prusa/Bambu Lab of SLS, bringing it to something anyone can do at home!
I'm definitely going to be a day one buyer. This is going to do wonders for my business.
Really looking forward to buy one!
Frickin amazing!
You just BLEW my mind using the lid to open the bottle of powder
I do that with my coffee creamer :)
you were the chosen one, instead you disappointed us all
aged out Fred selling us next level tech. cool world
I'm so ready for this
absolutely amazing. generally i'm pretty good about saving money but this might change that lol
Just comment to drive up the engagement and make your product successful in the future. Good luck with launch event and fulfill initial orders.
Make SLS for every one.
this is such an amazing feat for only 3k. If i had the money to buy one, i definitely would. Really excited for what this means to the 3D printing community- hopefully, desktop SLS' will be the new norm!
Very exciting. Let's gooo
Looking forward to purchase one :)
I'll probably never actually buy this but it's still a very interesting piece of tech, truly amazing
Do not touch the lamps with your fingers!!! The grease from your skin will burn onto the lamp and eventually cause it to cease.
I cant wait to buy this 😍
Amazing !
You are making a huge change in the maker Community 🎉😊❤
Amped. Excellent set of included components for the price.
Sick stuff
Can you show some examples of really high resolution/detail prints?
You guys are incredible - don't listen to the haters. Your price point is incredible. Your innovations are amazing, many are long past overdue and just clever, I'm particularly impressed with your homebrew analog galvo controller.
How much does the powder weigh, per 5.3L container.
Just trying to assess how expensive this printer will be to run compared to fdm.
How are your print materials so cheap and will there be more options in the future?
Got a few Q's for designy bits that don't immediately make sense.
- Why must the lamps match up with their slots? If they aren't all the same, why not? 0:54
- Why does the glass plate need to be aligned with the triangle? It looks square, so it should be the same on all sides? 4:16
- Why do you need to top off the sift bin after the print is done, just to sift it out again? 5:42
1. Lamps all have slightly different output power and are calibrated. If you put it in the wrong socket, one side of the build area will get hotter than the other.
2. The baffle pattern is not symmetrical
3. So you can refill the print chamber.
I would love to see how well a miniature comes out of this and how easy / hard it is to brush off the powder
Awesome 😃
Will you be providing a cheaper line of powder, or is that not a thing yet?
The only word for it is "Beast"🔥🔥
One recommendation: To transfer the powder into the chamber, make some kind of adapter that allows the powder to slide in slowly and no dust will be there
Thats a lot of work for the print but certainly it has a LOT OF POTENTIAL. Well done 🎉
Honestly compared to resin printers this is pretty simple
you're a champ!
Look forward to the KS campaign👍👍.
man the amount of things i would make for my car using this printer is insane.
Is that air filter a standard part we can get anywhere?
this is so dope
You should 3d print a spout for that jug of nylon powder to lower the amount of dust from pouring it.
working with an sla and fdm printer at the moment but its only a question of when I will switch to sls. Looks really promising for smaller buisnesses or hobbyist with disposable income.
Can’t wait.
Can we improve the print quality by using a finer powder or is it maxed out in the example pictures?
I like the convenience of the sifting box for mixing and depowdering, thays clever. You might want to consider using a low cost grow tent with the extractor fan to make a better fume hood. Im skeptical that makeshift fan extraction will actually keep things clean given my experience working with powders and fume hoods in the past. Interested in learning more though!
Awesome I’m really excited about this price point. Does the printer print any faster? For the number of layers on that first print it seemed a little slow.
wonder if itll be open source so we can contribute to firmware and UI changes
Great machine, I´ve so exited with the "home" sls printer. I have a question about the security system for avoid an dust explosion, i mean that the industrials solution use nitrogen for replace de oxigen inside de machine, how do you solve it in your machine?
SLS was never made for home... . seems there is no extra security design.
Is there a way to buy a unit before Kickstarter. I would like to order 10 or 15 units after testing. we run a large printing farm and thus this would be a great printer to add in.
Very impressive! After the Kickstarter is complete, how soon will this printer be shipping?
Question for setup - should those heat lamp bulbs be handled bare-handed? I ask because certain bulb types react poorly over time to skin oils and such on their surface.
Amazing machine! How long before we will see a low cost version of it printing with any metal powder? Is that just a matter of settings and a stronger laser? Does metal also need pre heating? Will we see HDPC and Nylon pre mixed with graphene (FLG) and or carbon fibre strands? And is there a plan for the propriety parts you developed to come down in price, and release a kit for a max of $1000-$1500? Also how do you remove powder from a fully closed part like eg. a football? Or sneakers that need air pockets?
Whats the heat resistance specs on Nylon 12? Do you per haps have Nylon 6 as I know it can handle 180 degrees celcius. I currently make molds with resin prints but I need this in my life
Will there also be some metal powder?
How do you make sure you don't overfill the printer?
Nice!
Impressive ! Does Micron have inert gas control system eg. Nitrogen?
Sls powder is potentially explosive. Is the fume extractor explosion rated? The printer? Does it have an inerting gas setup?
Fucking love it! Can NOT wait to get mine!
Will it be able to print things in wax?
could you also consider selling a mini vacuum to sieve and clean parts? with a brush head.
I want to dive into the future.
fantastic! the system looks great and well thought through. the printed part looks good too. how about a more challenging part to show off the system's capabilities? Something very rigid, nylon and TPU. Strength test vs resin, fdm and other SLS or MFP prints ehat is the range of shre A durometer for your TPU ? .
I have some very fine pet powder, how hard would it be to test the feasability of printing with it?
Is the big white box really necessary? Why can't I just pour it directly
