@@netmatrix75 yeah the workmanship angle is what I am getting at - their welds always look like they were done by someone who doesn't know how to weld. Like it doesn't take more.. effort? to not weld badly if you know how. Its technique, not time or effort.
At first I don't even know what is this welding for, I thought maybe this is for some kind of wheel weight balancing, but at 2:52 I realized how meticulous this guy is... :DDDD I laughed so hard to see that AMG logo ! :D

Really all I see is success! No precision cuts and definitely got penetration in the crevices or the wheel would've collapsed on itself. If the lad attended an interview he would be employed by Belton & Massey Catalysts UK on the spot with skill on MIG like that lol. MIG & Abrasive wheel qualified he appears to be.
It's a bloody work of art! Sure, it's all a little bit wonky and umm steel... but considering the equipment and techniques it's properly mental! That AMG logo made me LOL. Done with a cut off wheel and die grinder! My goodness
At 6:23 you can see the wheel warble like he described his feeling about It. The welder must weld the bar to the nuts ring first with TIG process for more penetration and finesse. Then, he can weld the bars with the wheels perimeters. Lastly, he will be able to cut the metal below the bars.
The wheel wobble might have something to do with the missing lug nut. There are 4 other lugs, but steel wheels flex quite a bit when torqued to the hub (where alloy wheels do not as they are normally much thicker due to being made of lighter, weaker metals such as aluminum)...so the wobbling issue could have easily been due to that one missing lug nut.
He welded that big ass slug of weld for AMG that's why it's wabbling I saw that coming you need to do ALL the welding before you cut it out and don't let it get too hot you're warping the hub. Keep everything symmetrical to keep it balanced
Next video idea: A car with no clutch pedal. Basically, the idea is that you remove the clutch pedal and only use your gas pedal and brake pedals. You can do that by modifying it in such a way that when you press the gas pedal, the engine rev increases and the clutch engages at the same time. So 2 in 1 basically. I hope that is interesting! (:
I can’t believe that wheel put up with the stress on it. I was sure it was going to collapse. I so want to go to that garage and just start making random stuff like this. What an awesome place
By the time you guys finish a couple more rims, I'll buy some. Love you guys, my biggest regret is not living close to you. Joklahoma is right in the middle of USA.
The ///AMG stamp is about 100 grams of steel on the one side, you should make another one on the other side of the wheel and after that recenter the wheel on hot with a hammer. Then rebalance the wheel on the balancing machine.
Great job on the welding ,using a míg in those tight corners hats off, a tig welder would of been easier to use .keep the vid's coming. P.S wish welders in UK could weld.

Under normal usage it would surely collapse. After welding you need heat treatment to relieve stress. Otherwise welds crack.
