  • One of G3’s best, most intuitive, and sought after backcountry tools is the Skin Trim Tool. If you’ve ever trimmed climbing skins without it, you know what a pain in the neck that process can be.
The G3 trim tool makes skin trimming lightning quick and easy by always delivering the perfect edge reveal without having to reposition the skin once it is applied to the base of the ski.
The first step in trimming your new skins is to check that the sizing looks right. Before you remove the release liner or start trimming the edges, just put the skin on your ski and make sure you’ve got the right size. You want to have a bit of ski tail exposed. Adjust the tail strap to fit with just a small bit of tension.
    Next remove the release liner.
Then attach and center your skin on the ski. Take a little extra care here to get it as straight and centered as you can.
Next, align the trim tool with the ski edge keeping the tabs between the ski base and the skin fabric. Then trim from tip to tail along the ski edge, repeating on both sides. If you are trimming ALPINIST+ skins you may want to trim from tail to tip to make trimming the tip section easier. You can just switch hands to do the other side or filp it around if you want to keep things to your dominant hand.
Check your trim to make sure it is clean, straight, and reveals both edges. That’s it. You’re done.
If you’re not trimming your skins with G3’s trim tool then you’re missing out and wasting your time. Once you use this little tool, you’ll never go back.

    Thank you for this video.
    I wish:
    - There was more of a closeup on the tool and how to position it between the skin and the ski/board.
    - CZcams ads were not showing for this video.
