      I think what's even more respectable is that they know it. They know that this remake series will literally kill the FF franchise, or take it to heights never before. I commend them, as one of the biggest game studios, to actually dare to actually change as much as they did while trying to balance the fact that it is a remake.
      It's scary, I have no idea where we're going, but I'm loving every minute of it.

    Hey DiGi, I completely agree with you on this. It's literally how I felt as soon as I got the ending. Although I felt more interested than bothered or worried on the way there, because I started noticing things were off as soon as we got Cloud's first vision. If I may, I'd like to suggest you to check out Sleepezi's videos about the ending and the future of 7R. I don't agree with every single prediction he made, but the predictions are a very very tiny % of what his videos are about. He actually connects so many dots with evidence from the whole compilation of FF7, all the games, the movie, the book, and it's SO interesting. There's so many layers and getting through all of it is a bit of a long watch, but I promise you it's worth it. You'll probably come out of it even 100 times more excited for the next game than you already are.

      Additionally, what do you think actually happened with Biggs at the end? We also see Jessie's glove and headband on the desk. I haven't seen anyone else come up with this theory, but I personally have a feeling that part of Aerith's deal with Tseng was to get those two out of the pillar before it collapsed, hence why Biggs is seen in a bed inside the Leaf House, which is in Sector 5, the same sector Marlene was dropped off at (Aerith's House).

    What i love about the last dialogue we have with Sephiroth in this game is that we can see and feel that Sephiroth actually have respect for Cloud now. He doesn't see him as inferior but rather as an equal. Because he knows that Cloud actually has the power to defeat him. Which is why he proposes him to join him, he'd rather have him on his side.

    I haven't started watching the video yet because it was just uploaded, and in fact, I never even played the original Final Fantasy VII, I just know a lot about it from playing Crisis Core on my PSP and checking out the plot on the internet because I found it fascinating at the time. Now I haven't played this remake either, but from what I heard of its ending, this thing might turn out to be one of the most ambitious plotlines in a game remake ever. It's playing on the fact that the remake is fully aware of how much of a cultural phenomenon the original game is. In fact, from what I heard, you NEED to have played the original to fully appreciate this remake, because it's gonna play with your expectations a lot, and it's gonna challenge you to do things different and alter the course of fate. Maybe, just maybe, what should have been a simple remake will be an opportunity for the player, over twenty years later, to change one of the most critical moments in video games pop culture. If FF7R eventually allows you to save Aerith and create a whole new plot from there, this might simply be a first in videogaming history.
    Or, it could also turn out to be a fatalistic view where the game gives you the hope that things could go down differently this time, but in the end fate really can't be changed and everything still happens the same no matter how hard you try to fight it. So many possibilities.
    Edit: I just watched the video. As a Crisis Core fan the part about Zack made me tear up a bit. Just knowing that there's a reality out there where my boy lives, seeing him again with these new graphics, passing by Aerith in a different reality while on his way to Midgar after defeating his own death, this is too good :')

  • @Silisy
    @Silisy Před 4 lety +2

    So I actually played Remake before the original, not knowing anything was different. Since then I've gone and played the original, watched lets plays of Crisis Core and Derge, and watched Advent Children. As someone who didn't know Sephiroth wasn't supposed to show up early, I was really excited whenever I saw him. He showed up in some of the weirdest places, and personally, that made me more scared of him. He was just this constant menace tormenting Cloud. I didn't think I needed a reason as to why he was doing it, cause I expected it would be cleared up in one of the next games. I can understand why people were upset about his introduction because I do like the idea of Sephiroth being more of a whisper in the shadows in the original, but I always felt tense during the Remake because I never knew where he would be. It makes me super excited about what's to come in the future of it all.

    The whispers were the toughest thing for me at first. And it was around the time you met Aerith at the church in the Slums did I realize that the story was dealing with a “defy fate” theme. I was catching a lot of the hints the game was throwing at me the first time, instead of on the second play through like most people.
    I was worried, to be honest. Why was Square setting up the possibility to change the story? I was afraid Wedge, Biggs and Jessie were going to live at the support pillar (and further down the line spare Aerith as well), that the story moving forward was going to lose the emotional impact the OG had just to make things happy. But as the game progressed, and many details were altered, I saw how the core remained the same and in many cases improved. Square didn’t flake and killed Jessie. They made Hojo’s lab a horror show. They gave a satisfying resolution with President Shinra and even temporarily killed Barret. I was seeing in real time on my first playthrough how Square was going to handle altering FF7 without losing what made FF7 special.
    Could they screw it all up in the end? Sure. But am I excited to see where this is all going? Absolutely!

    God, FFVII Remake had me gripped from the get-go, but the bold move of making the entirety of it a _sequel_ to the 1997 original and its subsequent supplementary material has me absolutely ecstatic. The future of Remake is at Advent-Children-Cloud-jumping-up-five-hundred-feet-in-the-air-to-slice-Bahumut-in-half levels and it's certainly understandable that not everyone's going to be on board with it, but something about how much quality the rest of this absolute feast of a game had fills me with a good bit of optimism that maybe, just maaaybe... they'll be able to stick the landing.

    I'm nervous about 7r-2 because i didnt like how 10-2 or 13-2 handled time. But 2 things are keeping my nerves in check... How AWESOME FF7r par 1 was, and how well they have handled both time, and alternate timelines in 2 previous titles: Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 8. Theres loads of things i don't enjoy with FF8, but The Laguna/Squall timelines are not one of them, i actually loved how that was. Squall and characters experiencing "memories" from Laguna, Ward and Kirs' past experiences. And that being how they escape the prison and etc.
    FF7r has the potential to be THE Final Fantasy story, i guess only time will tell.

      The thing is what if they do multiple endings. Like the normal original Story ending, an ending Where Aeris survives, or another one where you ally with Sephiroth. An ending where you have Zac in your team. they could make choices matter and branch the story, you would have to play the game several Times to get All endings that would be awesome.

  • @ccg2301
    @ccg2301 Před 4 lety

    It's not just Sephiroth that has knowledge of the future, Aerith also knows what lies ahead of them and you can see this thru her actions and dialogue. Not only does she has knowledge of it, but she can also pass certain memories to others that she touches as she did with Marlene (She probably let her peek the future where Barret, Tifa, and Cloud survived the plate falling to calm her down and even gestured to her to keep it a secret) after seeing her in the bar, and also with RedXIII. But every time the the watchers of faith makes contact with her, they gradually remove part of her memories. This kinda reflects on her as we see her start to get worried and become unsure of their predicament as we get near the end, unlike how we saw her unfazed by certain events at the beginning of the game as if she's already seen everything.

    Wild timing that you dropped this just as I finished the game myself, I have a new perspective on the ending that I didn't before, I was just left confused and frustrated when I defeated sephi, but I still don't think I like it, just have a new appreciation for the fact they're actually trying something wild not retreading old ground. That said, I don't think the game did anything for me overall and that kinda soured me by the end of it so I might need to sit on it for a while too

  • @imveryangryitsnotbutter

    I expect that in Part 2, we'll be bouncing back and forth between the two timelines in a way similar to FF8. Cloud and company will have extended (playable) visions of the alternate timeline, either as their AU selves or as Zack and other Crisis Core characters.

    The thing for me is that with what this remake has set up with the whole defying fate thing, it could wind up one of two ways. It could either go on to be a really clever and insightful metanarrative-driven story with something brand new to say... or it could turn into a vapid attempt by Nomura to rewrite something that was excellent into something weaker than what we already had. Far as I can see, the remake story going forward will either be excellent, or horrifically bad, so naturally I'm quite wary over it. I do hope for the best, and encourage anybody who loves this direction to keep loving it, but I worry for the worst.

    Ok, NOW that I understand the ending, I am with you in seeing this remake journey through to the end. Yes, who knows maybe this new AU will suck or it will ruin everything the characters stand for but so far we don't have much to be pissed about yet. While I am still a bit disappointed in the WAY Square Enix has handled the whole episodic nature of this remake, that still doesn't mean that my thought of 'OH now I am interested.' Has died. If anything, the ending invites my thought on how Yuffie, Cait Sith and Vincent will be like in this new timeline. Hell Red 13 so far despite not being playable, is pretty cool. So yeah I still have some complaints but really I am trying to be as optimistic as I can because I do like what I see and want SE to keep it up, especially with the possibility of Zack being alive now in some form. Great vid. I personally didn’t like the ending. But I kinda admire it for being so ballzey. My prediction is that Ff7 remake is still a remake with a curve ball here or there and not a sequel. I feel Sephiroth while he was in the life stream saw how things were going to go down and could be taking action. So it’s kind of a sequel but not really, more like a slightly different outcome. Something I KNOW, is that Zack is dead. The furthest that is going to go is a leguna type situation. Square has stated time and time again that they want Ff7 Remake to feel New to old and new fans. People say that this ending makes you look at all the compilation material but that’s not true. They are telling the same story while making it feel new to everyone. I admire that. My conclusion is that Ff7 Remake gets too much hate.

    I respect your opinion, but in mine Square ruined their chance at making final fantasy 7 a cultural touchstone for a new generation. What they made now relies on the context of multiple games and movies, and will appear to new players as, forgive my french, "anime bullshit". What they gave us is good -- better than I hoped for, really -- but the idea behind remaking ff7 in my mind was to give it to a new audience, because it was a gem that came out in an era of transitioning graphics, and is practically unplayable now for most people. Remaking it for the audience that already experienced it is a lower goal, and a disappointing one.

      I found this rather amusing. I did not looked to much into it but if its true than its just really funny how everyone gives Nomura crap fore the changes when he actully wanted to stick to the script.

    I.......not...............if there is something I HATE with a few....very tiny veryyy tiny few occasions of brilliance is...MULTI UNIVERSES, with the exception of Spiderverse, and some else stories in DC comics, every time I see the introduction of alternative time lines I roll my eyes, is the biggest cheap code and the biggest LAZY WRITING trick ever, so I was hype as fuck for this game.......now......I dont care for this at all, dont going to buy this, neither any continuation. I just wanted a REMAKE a good one with just slight changes, hell this is the ONE TIME DLC will be acceptable as an ALTERNATIVE....a DLC that let me change Zack fate, Aerith fate, the world fate, but thats it A DLC, you pay extra if you want to see that, for everyone else, you get the GAME YOU WANTED for hell how long??......but no, Nomura have to fuck it up, now in FFVII we get.....multiverses......in a freaking FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE................for me, this is not what I wanted, so, I will stay with the Original and Advent children as the only canonical FFVII stories, you guys can love this, its okay, everyone have its own opinion.....this is mine, I hate this ending, I hate the fates, I hate Sephiroth been in midgard (talk about ruin a perfect entrance), and hate even more than now we have ALTERNATIVES UNIVERSES in FFVII......now I regret to wish for this and even more so now than ever........Square Enix.........YOU NEVER TOUCH EVER AGAIN FINAL FANTASY VI, ruin all you want VII, but let VI ALONE.

    Heres the truth of the matter. They had a hilariously easy job. Insultingly easy job. Anybody. Anybody could have come in and made an easy game of the year
    But they thought they knew better. It upsets me greatly how obvious it is that the goal isnt to pay homage and make the greatest game possible. Its to make the most money. Their combat is great. Genius even. The rest is garbage.
    This game is an insult. And though I supported him for a long time, KH3 and this game has proven without a doubt that Nomura has no grasp of what goes into creating a cohesive story
