Is the Lamborghini Countach Really that Awful After 1 Year of Ownership?

- I bought my 1988.5 Lamborghini Countach almost a year ago. A lot of people review this car and talk about how impractical and "awful" it is as one car influencer said. I give my take on the car after owning it a year and learning what it is all about.

How I was able to afford this car! czcams.com/video/QOsPX0Nuo_Y/video.html
Every kid in the 1990’s had a Lamborghini Countach poster on their bedroom wall! I was one of them.
Me too! I even bought some used ones from the time period for my garage haha
I really like this review. It's so honest and real life. Talking about actually operating it regularly is so important.
Thanks!
It is a very particular car, but very beautiful, especially aesthetically. It is probably a car for short people (I saw that you touch the roof of the car with your head) and it should not be comfortable for the driver. And you're not the only one who rides without shoes: your pedals probably have very close together, but if you get used to riding without shoes it's not so bad: you have much more sensitivity that way.
Cool video. These are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Most of the stories of it being a bad car are told by those who haven’t experienced them. The car was the fastest production car made at one point. It is incredibly comfortable, once you are inside. I think that they get a bad rap for two reasons:
1). They weren’t maintained properly
2). For a long time they weren’t taken seriously. They were a drug dealer’s relic. Once they passed the used car phase and moved in to the classic car category they are garnering more respect.
That said, they do require all of your attention to drive. They aren’t easy. That makes the drive incredibly rewarding. No other car delivers this experience. One thing is for certain - they will never make another car like this again.
Thank you!
Those who found the Countach hard to drive were probably comparing it with today's supercars which can be easily driven even by an old lady.
The most common complaints on the Countach were hard clutch, no power steering and bad aircond, problems that can be easily upgraded.
100 percent
I still love my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais.
I remember the 95 Olds 98 regency Mom sedan I had.😊
The only added extra here is that this car is probably easier to look after with having fuel injection because it starts much easier everytime in all conditions, but loses around 50hp. Dont forget this Countach isnt a low bodied 400s, which would definitely make you struggle with headroom.
For sure on all that
I have a 88 Lamborghini countach as well and mine is white it was given to me by my grandfather when i graduated high-school back in 2005. I love the car , i have two other lambos as well a 2000 diablo i inherited in 09 when myn gpaw passed also white with red interior and a 2011 gallardo that i got cheap because high mileage and it needed a clutch. I love em tho and thing is the countach gets way more attention than the other two do
Lucky bastard!
Too bad grampa did not give it to you for your 16th birthday. It would have helped with the girls lol.
What are the specs on the 2000? Those are extremely rare
Working on my own fleet of fun toys. 2 1986 Merkur XR4Tis, 1 Saturn Sky, 1 Hertz Mustang, 1 Fiero with a 3.4L DOHC motor, and 1 Scorpio. I do fun car Friday as well 😀
Nice! I've heard the Merkurs are a blast to drive but not the most well built
@Mark Ferguson - InvestFourMore They are very fun to drive. A few hundred pounds lighter than a mustang, same power. No matter where you go, you are the only one on the road with one. I deal with the same picture and video takers you do with the lamborghini. They are built like an 80s Ford, but mine are highly maintained and all the classic 80s Ford foibles have been eliminated permanently.
Have fun with your fleet!
I drove several Countach's for Dr. Berglund as a summer side job in Estes Park. This was the late 80's when EP wasn't as crowded with tourists as it is now. Favorite drive was out McGregor ranch rd. And the end of the summer my left leg had much more definition than the right... thanks clutch! Also had the displeasure of replacing several clutches that summer due to the doc being a notorious cheapskate.
(Pd my way through college working on luxury/exotics)
Absolutely the WORST car made by Lamborghini. My Jalpa was easier to drive, service, and work on than the Countach.
Dm me if you need any service as I'm in Loveland.
Nice! The jalpa was supposed to be easier for all those haha
Hi Mark! I must say that of all the reviews I've ever seen (and that's a lot of them), I found this the most entertaining and informative one! Great job! Congratulations on your ownership of this icon! I've always wanted one, but never quite financially able. I've ridden in my friends 5000 S and a Diablo. Such cool and fun cars! My DD replica, Red with gold wheels like yours is almost back from the upholsterer with new white leather on real Countach interior panes! I then re wire the car, and hope to hit the streets this summer! Next year I plan to go tipple white! Thank you for the great vid!
Thank you!
If I had the funds, I’d try to track down a black on black carbureted QV. The carbureted cars are harder to come by here.
They are but I prefer non black since you don't get the contrast of colors from all the black trim
@@investfourmore The cars look good in red, but in black, they look downright wicked.
Thank you for this video! I absolutely had a poster for this car on my wall! It was so cool to see one so up close and personal! Appreciate the content!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The biggest problem is people compare cars like this to cars of today. That thing was designed in the late 60's- early 70's so of course it's not going to compare to a modern experience.
For sure and it was meant to be crazy. They had the jalpa and other cars that weren't as crazy
@@investfourmore When I had my '89 SSP Mustang people would say "I bet it's fast!". I would just say, "it's 90's fast". LOL. Nice little collection you have there man. It's a good feeling when you attain your dream cars.
mark, you have every right to revel in your success. you have worked hard to be where you are in the here and now. as long as YOU are happy with your beauties... then what can any of us say???
it's a BEAUTY and you DESERVE all the gratification it brings 😊
love all the drama, the info and the cars! keep it coming!
Thanks!
You definitely like the classics. Thanks for sharing your ride. It’s sweet!! Would love to see more of your rides.
Here's the playlist for most of them czcams.com/play/PLoQKPI7WPeHjz0ZQ26sIAJp9B8mXq1a7I.html
I heard about the lack of visibility backing up since learning of the car. Today shouldn't be an issue! Put a backup cam in it lol Nice video man. Thanks for the walk around :)
No problem
Great review. I love hearing about your list of what you have and what you want to get. You look younger than me but boy, we must have had the same car posters in our rooms growing up. Looking for a countach now and hope to find something well under 500k. Don’t know if that’s possible.
Good luck!!!
Maybe try a wireless backup camera that mounts to the license plate and displays on an iphone.
Which one of your vehicles would have the quickest ET at Bandimere and what would that be? Us chevy guys have some fast street legal cars and trucks too. And also real estate has made that possible!
Probably the lotus if it hooked up. Probably in the low 12s. Diablo is mid 12s stock but you've got to drop the clutch to do that. My cars aren't designed to be the fastest in the 1/4..
@@investfourmore We appraise and rent out houses. Spare time build our own street rods - V8 mini trucks and LS 427 corvettes. NO boosted stuff all NA. Drive them every day on the street and go mid 10's at the track.
@@torreypines3074and they are built to go fast 8j the 1/4.. Suspension, gearing, tires, etc. A drift car is built different as is a track car etc
Hi Mark, loved the video, beautiful car i also had/have the poster of that car on my bedroom wall when I was growing up, i still dream of being taken for a spin in one, your so lucky to own such beautiful cars and being so humble about it, well done, health to enjoy for many more years !! 🙂
Thanks!
Why cant anyone outfit this car with 360 camera. It wont drastically chage the outside but then you will need an infotainment screen. So if one can figure out a way to hide it somehow to keep the interior original?
You should shop around for a nice Pantera. Italian body with an American V8.
They are cool but prcey now!
Could not agree more on the fast food smell in cars
Doesn't that car need something like 4.5 gallons of oil and get 10 miles/gallon on premium gas?
Yup! 18.5 quarts
"Research shows that the richest 1% are responsible for twice as much carbon pollution as the poorest half of humanity. Yet those living in low-income areas and who are already facing the multidimensional burdens of poverty will bear the brunt of the impacts of climate change"
Congratulations for not caring about anyone but yourself. I'm sure your kids and grandkids will love you for it.
Does the E10 fuel give it problems? Very nice car. 1980's culture would not be the same without these magnificent machines.
No, it does great
fun car I had a 1971 Honda Coupe
nice
First impressions are everything and if I sit in it and I’m not comfortable then I would never buy it. Also, I could never afford to fill the gas tank.
I find the things I enjoy the most aren't always my favorite at first impression
great video, thanks for sharing with us, i learned lot!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
0:56 got owned by a truck huh?
good to see actual driver reaction from inside the car. dont see that in videos very often.
I was winning until I let off lol
I dont care about any of this. I want one and will adapt to anything it will throw at me 😅
You are living my dream man, enjoy!
Its just a big ole Hot Wheel.
😂😂
You work for everything you have ..who is anyone to say anything about what you like?! It is a lil claustrophobic, even to look at you haha. I watched the speed at which things out your window moved by. My question is ..being in CO n having all these sports cars, is there anywhere to stretch their legs out n see what they can do? How fast have you had this one up to? Can see the joy in your face as you're driving it ..right on!!
Oh ..the electric blue Diablo is gorgeous!!
Thanks!
Don't some states have laws about driving without shoes?
No idea
I love them both. Both are my dream cars. Help me make my dream come true.
Could one not fit a reversing camera on it ?
Red much nicer than white
Man your Diablo is awesome!
wow wow wow ❤❤❤ so cool 🎉🎉🎉thankyou love this🥰🥰🥰
👍👍
That was fun.
👍👍

That car is clean! Door jams are spotless , Impessive! Thank you for the car tour. Mark you are living the good life! All Beit without shoes :)
Thanks 👍
This looks like a really good kit car
Not a real countach
you must know much about countachs
@@investfourmore actually, the more I look at it, it does look real. It just looked slightly thin to me.
Dashboard designed by Cracker Jack box lol
I like it
Hell yeah
Tell me you are single without telling me you are single 😂
I'm not single
@@investfourmore I know I was just giving you crap All in good fun 🌸
The older ones were good looking the Pagani designed ones like yours were ugly.
Nothing more typical than a sitting, depreciating asset.
Of course everyone likes it though 🙂
These have gone from about $80k to $600 to 700k the last 10 years to 15 years
I think you're confused on what depreciating means
Wassup
Waz happenin

thank you
I would use that to collect rent checks at the section 8 apts, to illustrate to people on lifelong government assistance what hard work, discipline and self-sacrifice can lead to.
I don't have any section 8
leads to driving an uncomfortable unreliable maintenance nightmare 35 year old moneypit bad mpg foreign car. thatll show em!
