- Arguably, the Lamborghini Countach is the MOST exotic car ever produced. It is also known for being terribly impractical. I put that to the test as I attempted to DAILY DRIVE a Lamborghini Countach... and VLOG at the same time... : ). Whew! ENJOY and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, and LIKE.

Jay Leno has an 86 Countach with 70k miles on the odometer he said he drove it daily for the first 5 years of ownership without any major issues
He removed the rear wing. disaster!
@@navarrouk3487 I'm with Leno. The wing/fin at the back ruins the flow of the design imo. I mean I don't hate it. But I prefer the wingless look.
OneDankind he said that himself. But in my opinion the only lambo, that must has wings is the countach!
@@navarrouk3487 actually the rear wing increases drag and it's a fact. the car with it is slightly slower than without
@@navarrouk3487
The wing actually slowed the car down and was angled to provide zero down force.
It was designed to impress the American market, thus, Lamborghini (the company/engineers and designers) didn't really like or believe in it.
Personally, I would prefer the car without the wing, however if I was buying a Countach, it wouldn't matter to me if it had the wing and I wouldn't remove it unless the car in question did NOT originally have it installed on the production line.
The Countach is every Gen X car buffs dream car. I sure had one on a poster in my bedroom as a kid. If I could afford one I'd get a mid to late '80's 5000S in red, put a white Autobot symbol on the front trunk, and license plates that say 'Sideswipe.'
😂Nice! I'd turn mine into G1 Hot Rod
The right amount of money you make the space shuttle fly again.
This guy is the bomb. Totally agree, there are lots of articles out there about how difficult these cars are to drive. Total BS. I have driven a Countach QV and it is a mans car but not really so super difficult to drive but o so rewarding. Visibility is not superb but you can learn how to cope with that. Countach is the definitive supercar!!!! I have been a Lambo fan since 1978 and been to the factory in 1986 in a time that Lambo was not so well known to the public. I have seen Valentino Balboni drive LM002 on the roads of Santa Agatha Bolognese. What a sight.
"Free parking" ...love it LOL
MIAMI&Countach..... living the American Dream to the max ! :)
Best review or video I've seen about the beloved and unnecessarily controversial Countach. I think you are spot on with the remark about most critics are not that familiar with the car, and/or certainly aren't familiar with the ideal version and maintenance of one. Even as a kid who knew nothing about cars beyond what my mechanic grandfather could show us, I did understand from all the stats and articles I'd read that this and other exotics were not supposed to be convenient and easy, practical, utilitarian or familiar. With only mediocre intellect, I still laughed at how stupid some people sounded complaining about the weird or unconventional quirks that they found annoying with the Countach. There was no way in hell that anyone could convince me that with what Lamborghini was obviously trying to do, that we should expect anything to be familiar or convenient with an exotic like that.
Yes, today we have amazing super and hyper cars that are also much easier to drive and somewhat reliable.... but that's AFTER cars like the Countach dared to be be extreme in other ways prior, so that everyone else could learn how to improve from it. It's so basic and obvious as to why the Countach is the way it is, I don't understand why anyone would whine about it the way they did. It was expensive? Yeah... no shit. And it also did what very few other cars could do, and even if those cars matched or surpassed the performance of the Countach, they didn't look like the Countach. Also, the Countach was made by a little company that did special things without the endless resources of backing parent companies like Fiat or Volkswagen. If morons can't think of that stuff on their own, the story of the beast, including all the elements of what a Countach is, I feel sorry for them because it truly is special. It's just a really cool car and that's all there is to it.
Well said, indeed.
Knew a fellow back in the late '80's, owned a 'strip bar', he daily drove his white on white Countach and it showed...bald tires, stone chips, cigarette burns on the seats, and stiletto heel marks on the headliner. Cool guy.
I remember Jay Leno saying that he daily drove his a long time ago so much that it currently has like 87K miles on it so that has to make it one of the highest mile ones in existence.
You can daily drive anything as long as you have the $$$$$$ to maintain it
I love how you blip the throttle in low speed, I assume, to get an engagement and movement at low speeds vs riding the clutch and wearing it out prematurely. The scene where you go under the parking arm is priceless!
As far as dailying a Countach and more specifically the difficulty I personally have not driven one but have come across this sentiment regarding the difficulty of driving a Countach. As John points out logically speaking you need to start with a sorted example and some versions are better than others. This makes a difference positvely speaking but I would postulate or suggest that what makes part of the experience of driving it and other vintage/analogue cars enjoyable is actually the difficulty and requirement of effort and knowledge on the drivers part. It makes each experience more unique and special and rewarding. The newer exotics are way above and beyond cars like the Countach but they're almost like an everyone wins award. I'm not a "Harley guy" but I see a similar situation as with the vintage bikes you had to be someone to ride and maintain one. And that was part of the lore and lure and exclusivity of that brand. Now you just hop on and go (to the dealer for service).
So in conclusion I see the negative as a positive in the way that it allows for a deeper relationship between car and driver and therefore, in some respects, a higher quality driving experience than what newer cars have to offer.
That is one beautiful Countach. It's in my dream colour - the one that I've always coveted since the 80s. It's also in glorious condition, and my heart swells to hear you describe driving it so positively and passionately. I don't hear many others talk about the Countach like this. It's still my favourite car ever. It's embedded in my soul. Thanks for a great video. Subscribing!
Get one bro! You only live once
If you check Harrys Garage page, he shows you how practical or otherwise supercars are...he drove his Lambo 5000QV from Oxford in England down to the south of France.. he also did the same trip in his Testarossa, with a fold up bike behind the seats and put an outboard motor in the trunk space and drove back to the UK with it all 🤣
The best lamborghini ever designed
I found myself actually applauding when John drove under and got free parking.
I wonder if he has the Alpine tape deck in it.
I love that the Frame rate almost matches with the wheel spin @4:35 great vid as always.
Always been one of my dream cars since I watched the cannonball movies back in the days....this sound...OMG!!!
It is a pleasure watching you enjoying this magnificent car!
John,
Awesome video Bro.
Euro sports cars and Exotics have always been my passion. I lived in Sarasota Fla. In the 80's and drove a turbo look 911 Cab. while attending Ringling School of Art and Design.
While there I helped a buddy of mine import grey market Porsches Etc..
Later owned a 1954 Porsche Speedster, # 76 of 200 built. Helped a friend sell his 81 BMW M1 and got to keep it and drive it for 6 months.
Currently own a correct wheel based Countach replica I hope to get on the road one day.
I was also a test driver at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant.
Have been in outside sales for most of last 13 years. It I was a single, I would consider moving to Miami to work for you..... straight commission.
If I'm down your way one day hopefully I will have an opportunity to meet you and you dad.
I don't think some people understand the intense passion that some of us have flowing through there veins for beautiful rolling art!
You've made so many high quality videos, that I'm almost personally offended by how few views and subscribers you have John.
Another great upload, thank you again!
Love this episode especially the music playlist 💯
I’d modify the wing mirrors and rear view mirror to work in conjunction with cameras and to include an aftermarket lane departure warning system, it’s worked for countless works vans
Gorgeous car
Love the vice city vibe! Fever 105 😎
It never gets old!
sick channel buddy! keep on coming with some classy clean edits like that! Big love from Canada
Awesome car!!!!!! The sound of one I remember when I was 12 yrs old was instant love. On the highway and it blew past us while in our family car and I let out a LOUD yell and my dad said “son, there’s no way I’ll keep up with that automobile!”
A/c probably runs r12 refrigerant and the coils are to small with a small indoor fan blower
What a beauty. My absolut dreamcars since I was a kid in the 70is. I‘d love to takea ride in one
Love these videos , gives fans and people that can’t for any reason a chance to experience what the very lucky 🍀 can enjoy . Hard work does reward...
Very well done, John T. 👍🏼
Countach is my absolute favourite car design ever. I have fantasised about having one for 35 years. This video is magnificent, the car is utterly rock star beautiful, the presenter is great...but (and I say this without any malice whatsoever), this video does in no way convince me that the Countach is anything but very hard work, intimidating and impractical! ;-)
Not a big Lamborghini or Ferrari guy but these videos r fantastic. He has a real genuine vibe. Very interesting. He knows his stuff
Having said that a v12 in traffic is a poor environment for that engine type. I had an xj12 when they were free to a good home and that was not bad but had to stretch its legs to avoid sooting up. A friend of mine ,that loved having kit cars made , had an f40 that's was predominantly mustang power plant and a countach kit in the 80s when the body shell was made off a mould from a real countach rental back then. They sold quite a few basic kits that was shell and chassis, very few got built of course. His had a v6 Renault in but could also use a v8. The rest was Ford scorpion but he bought the full kit with interior frames that he finished in white leather. Al up cost 70k and that was in the 80s. It sat about 4 inches higher than the real deal but with that engine and fibreglass body it truly was an everyday car.
In summary, yes you can daily it, if you're not a baby and just plain cool af
Awesome, keep it up brother.
Love the def leopard shirt, it fits.
At 8.34 mins there is a Toyota Camry driving in the background of an almost identical colour! LOL
Great vid, legendary car ..thankyou brother!
I delivered pizza in my Delorean for 2 years. Anything is possible.
WTF!!
LOL
As far as I can remember this car has been my biggest dream ever.
great video. loved the doors backround music. from american prayer?
I like when you rev it up it don’t catch fire.
You sertainly living the dream, bro 🙂 Best regards from a car detailer in Norway.
still one of my favorite
You need more subscribers. Wtf. Video editing is superb, too.
I have a strange feeling this valet attendant fidel Castro sneak out this iconic car. you can tell Just the way he drives the car and showing off..
that red is nice very nice!!!
i love this car i need a black one 1989 , and 1997,2008 ,maybe the svj are sv 2016,2019
my all-time dream car
ac upgrade a must in hot summer -_-
one of finest model, that fun to drive
Good video, well done 👍
It looks so good
I would love to daily drive a countach. And it will actually work mostly flawlessly if it is used daily. Sitting still is what killing those cars since many components dry up.
Love the Ghost Song by the DOORS
Love the music . But have you drove her on anything higher than 93?
oh god pls do it more
I love those gold wheels!!!
Did you get that interior re-done? that leather looks brand new
great video
I red somewhere that a guy with his Countach ran 160.000 kilometers in 2 years without a problem. That's incredible!
That's extreme, I would have drove the Countach, but running saves petrol!
He did look like he was struggling with it a bit though, and I reckon, it will definitely take a bit of effort to get use to it, but having said that, it is tuned to be a super car, not a trolley cart.
...also loved the appropriate Mary Jane girls background music.
I'm subscribing just for the Def Leppard t-shirt
Nice use of the music from The Doors - American Prayer.
Great video👌👍
Awesome video
That's the best model and best color. I want it. Can I put it on my credit cards?
Ferrari is to Duran Duran as Lamborghini is to Billy Idol.
Hi John i will like to see a Diablo GT sometime on your channel
No number plates. No hands on the steering wheel. No safety belt being worn. Driving with the doors open. Try that over here in the UK and you would lose your car, lose your licence, and end up in jail.
Haha you showed how to park !
TOO SMART FOR SEAT BELTS, RIGHT? ;)
your nickname is killjoy?
@Sleeping seat belts wont save you in that car, its your last resting place regardless.
Great vid ! What a shame that the prices of these cars and similar have sky rocketed so much that only the ultra rich can afford , they’ve turned into commodities. Th dreamer can no longer dream of working so hard to get one because it’s just not possible . Therefor meeting the owners these days is so so boring because instead of meeting a car enthusiast you end up meeting someone showing off there money and wealth, that’s why car shows are so boring these days ! 20 years ago when these were affordable the owners were awesome to meet , really cool guys with style !
very very cool
Why you dont use seatbelts?
I respect you
How come no number plates ?
I wonder how it would go over speed bumps. This video is great but all streets are smooth and nice. How would it go over speed bumps?
Cannonball Run !
Amazon just put the original print of the movie online a few weeks ago and,
The soundtrack to the Lamborghini on the intro is different....
Has anyone else noticed that?
What was the engine that they overdubbed in the TV version?
Are any of the soundtracks Countaches?
Awesome
Dream Car!
Dont you need a licenseplate in Florida?
The Ghost Song playing in the background to match the Doors T-shirt
I'll take one, please!
im exhausted just watching someone drive it
The Gallardo baby lab has some of the same looks at a smaller scale. Glad lambo did that with the Gallardo
i like your style :-)
Belleza.....
Were you actually able to pass under the parking gate? Lol that would be a great parking perk
Does curated ever buy jalpas?
I noticed that he gives it gas while driving slowly ... That prooves the clutch grab point is tricky..
peaky high-performance engines are like that. not much torque at idle speeds so you do need to tease the throttle while letting out the extremely heavy clutch pedal. that's another issue with the countach, if you have a weak left leg, you're going to have problems with the clutch.
@@marzsit9833 i think it is more because of the clutch.. Ive driven high power engines And clutches are super easy.. And You don't Even need to give them gas..
nice
It don`t make sense hitting the throttle by shifting in a higher gear. But in a lower gear...
ERLY CONTACH 3.7 L V12 455 HP CONTACH 5000 S 4.0 L V12 500 HP COTACH 5000 S TURBO
He's keeping the revs up at the red light to keep it from stalling :) That and the AC being spotty in Miami, and the lack of any rear visibility makes this a really bad daily driver. Not to mention the turning radius is awful. It's an AMAZING and ICONIC car, but honestly, daily driver? No.
"Can you Daily Drive a Countach?? Yes!"
John, I love ya and Lamborghini's but, that's crazy. The Countache is one of the most uncomfortable cars to drive that has ever been built. How many can you think of that are more uncomfortable?
I love the Lamborghini Countach!
If I had one id drive it non stop day and night.
