      It still don't have the damage it had when we first got it but that long reload Is not faster than a rocket devastator after u shoot it change that and I'll forget about the shrapnel

      I heard the shrapnel was removed because it could potentially do 9000 damage if the shrapnel all went the same direction so the devs are struggling with buffing it without it outperforming a eagle airstrike.

      ​@DakkaDakka12 the theoretical maximum wasn't a thing. It never happened. Total overreaction and classic AH, nerf something because of a different system. Or buff in the case of fire damage. They buffed fire damage multiple times before fixing the actual problem.

      So do I. From where I stand, eruptor was flawlessly balanced with the commander and hiveguard one-shots, for the kind of fire rate and projectile limitations it had. Shrapnel needs to return, pronto.

      Decreasing ammo capacity is actually a buff for the supply pack which was too weak (if you can do difficulty 9 missions without even needing to use all the supply drops available, why would you need a supply pack?).
      Just a tip from a player with many hundreds of hours in the game. Treat the mag like it has a capacity of 4 rounds. Always reload with one round in the chamber. The devs are fans of real guns. When there's 1 round left, that mag is empty and that last round is in the chamber. So, when you reload and drop your mag you don't lose any rounds. And, because there is already a round in the chamber you don't need the animation to chamber that first round. This makes the animation shorter which means more rounds per minute.
      The original eruptor was wildly over powered. They nerfed it and accidentally made it worse than they anticipated (their dev team isn't very good). The buff they just gave it pretty much brings it in line with where you would want it.
      Most mediums are a single shot. It's still got solid AOE ability from a distance. The larger mediums are two shots, but with enough AOE that you can use two shots to eliminate two of the larger mediums if they're close enough ... and that gets you back in line with a single shot per medium.
      The real test are the stalkers and bile spewers.

    Absolutely in love with this update, not gonna lie. So many beautiful buffs to underrated stratagems and weapons. And I felt the same about the eruptor when I took it out for a testdrive. Just annihilated so many things.

      Yeah but the JAR-5 is better than the Eruptor in almost every way and can dump it's mag much faster, a mag that when you do basic math contains 4125 damage with medium pen vs the Eruptor at around 2850 damage with medium pen. It's only advantage is the ability to close bug holes. While the Eruptor is better than before using it simply puts you at a disadvantage. Prior to all the changes it was great for covering your team from a distance and providing overwatch but now you can use it if you want to RP with it. Sure you will kill stuff but you won't be exactly good at it. 2 to 3 shots to kill a brood commander is insane given how long it takes you to fire those shots and its AOE, or lack of, means if you wanna clear up trash you should run the i-breaker or sickle. The weapon takes considerable skill to use, unlike the i-breaker which takes considerable skill to not set your teammates on fire with, and skill hence aiming and placing shots in relevant areas should be rewarded not given further irrelevancy.

    Finally. I can go back to my precious Eruptor + Stalwart build. Now I can also add the Bushwacker shotgun pistol to the build to help deal with anything that gets too close; like Stalkers

    If you pair this with the grenade pistol and swap to it after firing the Eruptor you can cancel the rechamber animation AND get rid of the aim delay and fire a second explosive shot with the grenade pistol immediately, killing any devastator from any body part in two quick shots. If there's a crowd or it survives somehow you can swap back to the Eruptor for a third explosive shot and wipe out whatever's left. 3 consecutive shots with no wait time in between makes this combo a must-have, especially against bots.

      Fair, alternatively the new Bushwhacker is a good backup option for CQC or run the stalwart as your support for mob clearing. Also highly recommend the jumppack for consistent quick access to higher elevations, makes ad clear 10x easier, plus at higher elevations it's very reasonable to do some precision sniper work and weave shots near allies without hitting them

      Ikr we got used to it being so OP that we can’t envision it without that shrapnel. Would have been better if it was never released with it so we would have never got attached to it. It wasn’t working as intended I get that a primary shouldn’t be doing more Dps than a Recoiless Rife but we will just have to have fun with it in other ways. Still needs better reload or chambering rounds.

      ​@@YellowshirtmannIt should at least oneshot a brood commander IMO. But it doesn't because of the weird breakpoints.
      So it feels like it barely has more punch than the dominator because of that. Meanwhile the dominator is semi auto and can dish out 5x the damage per second.

      ​@@SuperCatacata it's better now since you can get 3 or 4 per shot while Dommy is 1 per(unless you get some penetration) but ya not 1 hitting broods feels bad, I just hit them once then try to hit something nearby with 2nd shot so brood dies from splash and I get at least another kill or two with the bullet

    Gave it a shot, but it feels like a chore to use, same as before, but without the power to offset the frustrating aspects of the gun. It used to be my favorite. I think it needs like a 40-50% bigger radius and around 750-850 damage to be comparable to what it used to be.
    Oooooorr, they could just bring the shrapnel back to it's release form, but not allow it to ricochet -- problem solved, everybody is happy.

      Ricocheting itself wasn't the issue. What that patch really fixed was a bug that prevented you from getting hit by your own projectiles, period. Where before your shrapnel could only hurt squadmates, now it could also hit you. That meant there was a slim chance of dying to your own shrapnel EVERY TIME you fired the Eruptor, no matter what. A piece could just come straight backwards and kill you even on a direct hit.

      @@eddiemitza2544 It never happened to most people. But the rare times when it did happen, across such a massive community, added up quick. People started sharing examples of oneshotting themselves with shrapnel post-patch and triggered an outrage campaign on reddit and discord within a day. It was compounded by flatout misinformation about rockets supposedly 180'ing back at the shooter based on a scuffed video, and CZcamsrs misreading the patch notes and assuming Arrowhead literally hardcoded a chance for ricochets to home in on the shooter regardless of angle.
      People HATED that patch, en masse, despite 99% of the community not even understanding what changed (and still not understanding to this day). 24 hours later Arrowhead made an announcement saying they looked into it and all the community's supposed evidence of oneshots was fake except for the Eruptor clips. So they fixed the problem.

    AoE should be bigger, the slugger can 2tap a commander to the head and it fires alot faster and have wayyy better handling. TTK just feels a bit bad tbh cause of the slow ass fire rate, if AoE was bigger AT LEAST it would give it a bit of CC compare to other option... idk ill give it a try but not quite convinced

      I think total damage should get buffed until it 1 shots brood commander in the head. It's fine if the increase comes from direct damage in case more splash would be too good.

      @@markfreier7194they decreased the reload time by about a second and increased the damage per round from 100 to 150. They also buffed its armor pen rating by 1 so it’s doing full damage to medium armor zones more often but it still won’t penetrate heavy armor.
      It rate of fire is slower which is also a buff.

    Needs like 80 more dmg bring it up to 650 total and more splash radius to make up for the lack of shrapnel and ammo. Bullet falloff shouldn’t be changed. I would love a bleed wep that puts a dot on like fire does.

      I think every reticle got a make over. At least the ones I've seen so far. I am SO happy they finally put the same love and care into the reticles as they do their reload animations. A great QoL change.

      kind of, but also not really.
      Mag size is still too low, or the fire rate is still much too slow for what it does. Animation canceling shouldn't be the best way to use the weapon by far, but it is.

    Note on the Charger 3/4 shot thing to kill- someone recently pointed out that durable damage has momentum drop off if youre moving backwards or targets are moving away, so chances are its 3 shots worth of damage to kill the charger but if theyre moving away from you when the shot lands it has drop off and might survive hanging on by a thread.

    Weirdly enough I two tapped a charger at one point with the erupter. One shot was directly on its butt and the last was actually directly beneath him since he was facing my direction. I shot below him just to see if the aoe explosive dmg would hit the butt from under but it just seemed like it straight up killed him anyway.

    One thing I never liked about this gun is it acts like it's cycling a round even if the magazine is empty. Not how that should work

      You're right of course, but also, don't empty the Eruptor's mag anyway. Most guns skip the racking animation if you reload before empty, and keep one bullet in the chamber. You'll get a faster reload with no loss of ammo.

      You can interrupt the racking animation with a reload.
      I actually enjoy that because it feels like a skill for the Eruptor.

    The Eruptor is returning to glory. It's great now! Imagine a touch of shrapnel, maybe with a 1.5-2m radius 😅
    I know its already asking for more, but they did say they were going to work on it. I'm definitely going to use it now, but I can't wait to Erupt with it in its final form 😂

    So for devastators it seems to be what, 1 tap the head or 2 to the body? Have you tested leg shots to see if it can one shot them in the legs? Just asking cuz I know you can kill them pretty quick there with the jar5

    I played Eruptor with shrapnel, mained it without it, and now I feel so good playing around with this primary. Its such a good weapon. Pair it with explosive resist armor perk, the new stim boost, and if you can, light armor, and you can survive dive + close range. Not only that ragdolls you away from enemies, but eruptor stuns them for you just enough to dash away, and coincidentally, shooting midway through the dive deals little damage explosion damage as possible while exact time to line up the Eruptor for quick ragdol rocket jump away, lol.
    Its so good I now run my other unorthodox favorite weapon, HMG. Hell returning fabri/bug hole closing ability no longer requires me to run granade pistol and I can run my beloved revolver. Though redeemer is the better option overall. Needless to say, even if the Shrapnell is gone, its current state pretty much has all shrapnel benifits and none of its downsides. The weapon now trully erupts and feels punchy as it should. Love blowing spewers to the point I want them in the game, lol.

    It will never be the same without the Sharpen but at least now it's like having a Anti-Material Rifle as your primary, albeit with a slower rate of fire

      I think making it have less damage falloff on the blast radius might work too, it seems like it does great aoe damage if enemies are touching each other, and you really cant complain about it's single target damage.

    Still but a shadow of what it once was... Now its in a weird place where its still not strong enough to replace a support weapon and forced to still run a anti tank support. Shrapnel eruptor allowed so much gear flexibility really need it back

      I think it isn’t a bug weapon anymore. The break points are awkward and its niche is as a medium target clearer. Bugs come too numerous for that and demand higher power for the big boys.
      It has returned as an absolute scrap maker for bots though. Reliable takedown of Devastators and Scout Striders while getting even better Berserker breaks make it excellent for most enemies. The standard bots are kind enough to stay still and clump, so AoE does good work. Paired with the Bushwacker (CQC alternate) and a support to deal with heavies and it becomes a very reliable combination from my experience.

    Easily my favorite primary in the game, bots or terminids. With the hotswap tech, and animation canceling your reloads, it is an incredibly rewarding weapon master.
    Getting to a higher elevation via jumppack is incredibly helpful with this weapon. I jumped up to the top floor of a tier 2 house in an eradicate and I was getting consistent multi-kills while weaving shots in between my teammates to support them. It's such a fun and rewarding weapon to master, cannot recommend it enough ngl

    It really does feel like an AMR almost as a primary. I have run it with the supply backpack. Its a little risky without the shield backpack but this lets you do some many more things. It would not be a dumb move to run this with a machine gun or even a machine gun turret.

    When I saw you start taking out bot spawners with the eruptor it made me seriously reconsider my bot-build!
    Edit: Would love to see more testing against bots/ factory striders/ gunships. You spent most of this video fighting bugs and didn't give the bots enough love I think!

      I’ve tried myself.
      Gunships are hard to hit but are 2 shots in the weak spot.
      Like most primaries, you’ll have better luck against Striders with a support weapon. I think they kind of work, but you’re dealing with a weapon that already generally relies on flanking a Hulk (or shooting its legs out…8 shots when shrapnel existed, but probably more now).

I'm able to mostly hit them but I'm missing the weak spots and just waste ammo, the round itself is too slow compared to the AMR. Also doesn't seem to do anything against the factory walker strider, can't even knock off the two front miniguns it has. Granted this weapon wasn't really designed for all that but I just figured since the scorcher can take out heavy enemies that the eruptor would be able to.

    I would probably play with guard laser rover in bug planets so the laser takes out the small fries if i use this gun instead of the shield. But i rather run breaker incendiary with a spear and a grenade piston

    In my experience Bile Spewers can take up to 3 or even 4 shots to kill sometimes, which is a bit much imo. Should be 2 reliably. But the weapon does a lot better better now

    I doesn't feel good to spend 4 of my 5 rounds to kill 2 commanders while there are 12 other types of bugs rushing at me. The shrapnel helped you kill some of the small fry so by the time you had to reload you were not still covered in bugs. It was nicely balanced, a slow and sluggish weapon but the devastation was there to compensate for the lack of fire rate.

    Still think the AMR is the better long range option, higher capacity, reliable and accurate shots, can take down heavy targets, and the cycle and reload speed are great.
    My favorite thing to do is hang back in the rear and snipe devastators and hulks that are harassing my teammates.
    I primarily play bots so having long range capabilities is huge.

    Yeeeeaaah the only reason you got a x6 and x4 in the beginning around 1:50 is cuz you already hit multiple shots into the crowd with AOE it seems so on the final two shots you were just kinda finishing everything off. Still seems pretty weak to me, xbow/gl/pp seem like better explosive chaff clear to me... if anything the eruptor now seems more like its designed for clearing bug holes and bot fabs from a distance, instead of being actual wave clear

    In short, the eruptor went from very very underwelming to very underwelming. I was an "only eruptor" player dif 9 vs bots and bugs alike. Atm if you play it the team is carrying you in the shadow. It cannot compete with the good weapons. So yeah you can use it and it is fun to play but by no means is "good" again.

    Sigh, it's better but it's still not great IMO. I loved the OG but completely agree that it shouldn't 1 shot heavies. That said given the reload time it really should 1 shot brood commanders and the explosion should be a bit larger to actually clear up hunters when grouped. I really want to run this gun but outside of RP there isn't much of a reason to. The JAR-5 can dish out more damage faster. I can walk into a nest with the JAR-5 and kill 3 Bile Spewers in the time it takes the Eruptor to fire, reload and fire again... Granted that requires accurate shot placement but it just begs the question, why does this gun even exist? It's not filling a role anymore. I love bolt action snipers that can merc anything that's not a tank in one round, I can get over the bullet drop and travel time as it makes it more fun, that's what this weapon was. They need to just bring back the shrapnel and stop it from doing a jillionty damage to chargers. I'll give the Eruptor one more go to see if I can pull off BT kills with it but I'm pretty sure it's crap still. It's only function is to close bug holes.

      Mg-43 is a good Pick now for bots. I was able to take down multiple Devastators, of all variants in one clip on bots.
      As for bugs, the flamethrower is arguably the best Support Weapon, being able to take on anything but the Bile Titans. Charger in the Vacinity? Fire at its front or back legs for a couple seconds. Overrun by little bugs? Stun Grenade and spray the ground. And, the Ship Module that increases the Fire Damage by 25% makes it that much better.
      You have a Crowd Clearer and a Single Target powerhouse paired with these 2.

      I run eruptor on bots and I go with new shotgun pistol as secondary as "oh shit they are on me" moments and impact grenades for blob clear, new armor passive makes eruptor quite nimble at aiming.
      as for stratagems I run laser dog for chaff clearing, eats or quasar for heavier stuff or airships, eagle rocket and laser for sweeping

    They promised they'd revert the Eruptor, and this isn't that. Even with the damage buff, it's not as effective as the pre nerf version, i can tell.
    Honestly, even with the rest of the patch it was this i was looking forward to the most and I'm a bit underwhelmed. I dont tknow if its enough to bring me back to playing right now.

    first of all, thank you for testing the eruptor... but it's not back. i will not accept it if it cannot one-shot spewers (head or body) like it did before all the nerfs. it does not have the ammo economy/capacity for me to waste my time two-shotting what i one-shot before the nerf. i was an "eruptor main" using it on bots and bugs indiscriminately. seeing it still not have its shrapnel and not one-shot what it did before is a let-down. i understand making it so it won't one-shot chargers as that was broken.
    many people happy with the buff (i feel) never really used the eruptor... or the nerfs were SO BAD, that it has people thinking the patch "brought it back". the patch has not brought it back, it's still a shell of what it was. i am happy for the people who like the buff, may they go and use a still underwhelming version.

      Idk man. I was One shooting the regular Bile Spewers, non armor variant. I also consistently 1-2 spotted Hulks depending on their health as I shot them. Also managed to get a collateral multiple Scout Striders. It's definitely a top tier pick for me in that regard.

      honestly, eruptor served a niche portion of the community. most people watching this vid will be like "pipz is okay with it, it's good again". people who actually used to eruptor for more than 5 missions and didn't blow themselves up with it know the current version is still a shell.
