Cool
1. Scoop out ice cream into mold
2. Freeze until ice cream balls are completely frozen solid
3. 200ml of melted ice cream
4. Pass ice cream through strain into non-stick frying pan or put a bit of oil in regular pan
5. Add 1/2 cup of glutinous rice flour into melted ice cream in pan
6. Mix until flour dissolves and there are no lumps
7. Turn stove on to a low heat
8. Continue stirring until the mixture starts clumping together
9. The dough is ready when it is smooth, thick and elastic. The mochi should be sticky but firm (slap like a butt for good measure)
10. Oil a slip mat and hands
11. Knead for one minute
12. Spread mochi into a square thin layer
13. Cut the mochi dough into four
14. Dust with rice flour and brush off excess flour
15. Take frozen ice cream balls out of the freezer
16. Wrap ice cream balls with the dough and pinch off excess
17. Place wrapped ice cream back into mould and let freeze again for at least 2-3 hours

easiest mochi recipe i’ve made so far! it doesn’t leave a mess either if you use oil instead of flour/corn-starch for the dough rolling. i was able to make 6 pieces of mochi out of 6 half scoops of ice cream. i recommend you plastic wrap each mochi right after you finish it before you place it back in the freezer, that way it’ll keep its shape!

Hi there.. I've seen other vids steaming the flour and ice cream batter before putting it on the stove.. does it make any difference by steaming it first?
steaming is other way of cooking. you can direct mixing flour and icecream in the pan like I did and stir constantly in low heat until clumped together,dough should be smooth,thick and elastic. i hope it helps.😊
