Do press the button!
It has a surprisingly satisfying clickiness to it.
I used to press the button on the Stockholm metro untill I realized that it does absolutely nothing.
Ok
The Rolling Troll Not on sub service
The London Underground ticket is too expensive. It costs 200 pounds a month for Zones 1-4. And the price is still rising. Is this normal? Isn’t it strange that everyone still accepts it?
😂😂😂😂
Jay Foreman can make the most boringest of boring boringness extremely funny and entertaining to watch. I would watch videos of him stuck in a traffic jam for hours tbh.
What more can be unboringed?

@@huazhang1626 It does cost more for a 4-week travel card for the approximal same area of Glasgow with an SPT zone card. tho for the 17 zones to cover the approximal same area it would be all zone card at £270.40 and that covers the whole of the Strathclyde public transport area.
Why am i watching this lol. I take the tube everyday to work looool
I'm watching this and live nowhere near London
I am watching this even though I know how to use it
We are all here because of jay foreman let’s be honest
We Londoners are a parochial bunch

2ND MOST IMPORTANT RULE
NEVER MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH ANYONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
*This rule applies anywhere in the world.
First rule, wear your stab vest.
Makes eye contact with oneself in the window reflection.
OMG what have I done.
New York especially
@@_yellow Not in Texas where most of u smile and greet strangers. Frowning and ignoring people is generally considered rude here.
Oyster cards seem to last forever too. I make business trips to the UK once every 3-4 years and my Oyster card I bought 12 years ago still works, and still retains the money I had left on it from the previous trip.
In December 2010 I was waiting to board my plane to fly out of Heathrow when 3 inches of snow fell in an hour. The whole airport shut down for several days. First thing I did was reserved a hotel, then picked up my luggage, passport control basically just waived us all back out without any check, and with my trusty Oyster card got right on the tube and quickly escaped the mess. Queue to get a taxi or a paper tube ticket was 2+ hours long! Lifesaver!
"Don't Panic!"
Jay, I think you forgot your towel...
London is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is.
You two are beautiful people
***** What?
Sadly, we still think that digital watches are pretty cool. *Jumps into the ocean and tries to down-volve into a fish.*
Nothing in that comment I typed ever mentioned anything about dolphins.
I find it ironic that when he said to ask someone he was on the Victoria line which doesn't go to Bank unless that was a planned joke.
@@Ethan-ik1nm Knowing Jay Foreman's other work, it was probably a planned joke. It would be in his style.
I thought the joke was that he was in the Waterloo and city. In which case if he came on at Waterloo of course it's going to Bank it's the only other stop on the line
That's an incredible spot!
I had to replay that bit half a dozen times before I noticed the blue outside the train.
@@Michelle_Schu-blacka Look carefully behind Jay and you can see part of the stations name: "& Islin" meaning he's at Highbury & Islington, which is on the Victoria Line and doesnt go to Bank. You can even see the Victoria blue on the hand rail next to the bloke he's asking.

I do know all this but I just cannot stop loving Jay's videos
I was in London last week, I absolutely love the city and plan to go back. The London underground is perhaps the greatest subway i've ever ridden in my entire life, and i'm from NYC. Really makes the MTA look like it's being run by a bunch of kids.
I know, actual padding on the seats (though I also saw this in other cities), and armrests to separate you from the person next to you!
Of course it does. The MTA is essentially a jobs program for inner city folks. The employees are all unmotivated people who would otherwise be on the streets or unemployed. That's what jobs programs are like... Giving jobs to people who are otherwise unemployable and as a result the residents get a really garbage service.
The U-Bahn München makes the Tube here look like what you described the MTA as lol they're the only 2 subway systems I've used (the Tube I haven't used in 4-5 years, but had used extensively since 2001 at least), and I can safely say that the U-Bahn was fantastic when I briefly visited Munich. Blew the Tube out the water.
Slightly surprised you didn’t mention wheelchairs. If you’re in one you’ll find it a huge logistical challenge despite some stations having step-free access! I’ve yet to see one on the entire system!
Jay Foreman Brought me here!
Jake Kay ditto. i miss map men, but this will do.
Great job and superb guide would love to watch more videos. I had encountered with the issue of crossing roads because in UK things are totally different. A big thanks to my uncle he Booked a taxi in from WaterlooCars.co.uk so I can enjoy my tour freely

J : Does this station goes to Bank?
Othet Guy : Yes!
TRIGGERED
Last time I was in London I got a visitor Oyster Card in the mail, tapped in at Heathrow, and off I went. Easy!

@@huazhang1626 season tickets are typically always expensive - you might want to use payg instead to see if it works out cheaper. Also you might wanna buy a railcard and pair it with your oyster for 1/3 off fares
Your videos are amazing. Can you just be my tour guide when I visit? Thanks. 👍
I live in Edinburgh.......
..... I still love watching these
Jay my favourite!
When I went to London with my class, I lost my ticket twice in the underground. Everyone had to wait for me, while I was panicking and searching for the place where I lost my ticket. I am the person who needs such a guide.
So thanks for the help. It is too late right now but thanks anyways I guess.
It is good to lose things sometimes because you learn quickly to “sharpen up” and be more careful in future.

Why do the doors have buttons then?
when the S stock arrives at its last station, the driver closes the doors so passengers use the button to open the door
1) Jay is a most common name in India.
2) Like your videos, I have seen first time today and start liking it.
3) I like short videos always and you are one of those CZcamsr. It's like Twitter your message should be shorter and to the point
you smelly bastard
Good advice!
I'm not in London but the door open button reopens the door of the train when they self close. You can use button as long as the doors are not forced closed by the driver.
These are great fun! I'm going to use them in my English as a foreign language lessons. Have you thought about having some teaching materials written for use with the guide? You'd have a pretty huge audience.
I'm thinking about visiting London. I live near Birimingham and I'm thinking about taking a train to London Euston. Hope thats a good idea
DONT TALK ON THE TUBE
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE
NOT EVEN TO ASK FOR HELP

JAY FOREMAN!!
With the paper travelcard (to use the 2 for 1 promotion) of 7 days from zones 1-2, if I want to go to Wembley stadium (zone 4), I can present the travelcard at the ticket office to pay in cash only the difference instead of full fare?
If not, I thought I'd get off at a station on the edge of zone 2, and re-enter using the Oyster PAYG to complete the journey to Wembley. It's a good idea?
*I already plan to use Oyster PAYG for the other 4 days of travel, including the day I arrive in London, so I already have Oyster at my disposal.
Merci
Why am I watching this If I'm italian
suitably English. Nice work and helped me plan.
I think on some above ground stations the open door buttons do work to keep the cool/warm air in the train
Love your 60 Second Guides, keep it up!
So whats up with the oyster you see him holding before you get a close up of the reader. Its entirely dark blue
They made a bunch of different promotional oysters, like the variety of different pound coins we have. My oyster card has pictures of the olympics on it
no i wasn't one of those, reminded me abit of a contractors oyster i once saw
SOUTHWESTENZ That dark blue Oyster card belongs to one of the station staff. My actual Oyster card wouldn't let me do take after take.
i like jay
I went to London for the first time last summer and I absolutely loved taking the tube. I found it really fascinating and fun, when you weren't crowded into a carriage during morning commute and late at night.
Hi There!! I will be flying into LHR on Monday morning and want to travel to Camden Lock Market. Any advice of the most economical way to travel and estimated cost? Thank you!!
TFL's website (tfl.gov.uk) is the best place to visit for travel advice, prices and duration.
Catch the 4:05 to Inverness, then a quick walk to Slough, and Bob's your Uncle! 4 quid.
I love your video, your travelling tips are great.
How come jay's oyster is purple at 0:14? Can't find anything about purple oysters
There's tons of different oysters depending on when, where are how you get it. The new Elizabeth line's got nice purple moquette!
Je kiff la vidéo 😍😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩
I'm a Londoner who has moved away (20 years ago) and is coming back for a visit. Do I need to live in the UK to get an Oyster card or can tourists get one at Heathrow?
Am I the only one who watches his videos even though I have no plan on visiting London just because he's so funny?
I do almost all the donts and anyways day tickets are way nicer because you wouldent have to spend half an hour at the ticket office thinking about what you did at tower hill
Watching
Shouldn't the escalator's fast lane be on the right if traffic is left-side in England?
No. Because... complicatednessisisms.
Of course there are exceptions to the no button pressing rule - e.g. at Wimbledon when a District line train is waiting for its departure time the doors sometimes close, and then you need to click the button to get in. And to confuse everyone they must be pressed on the Overground and mainline rail.
And I'm old enough to remember when they actually worked on the Central Line, before they all got buggered in a couple of months and they went back to opening all the doors.
To add further confusion, doors do open automatically on Thameslink and Elizabeth Line core sections.
0:55 Is my favourite part
Ah, Jay... So awesome!
By far the best videos on this channel! Jay Foreman is love, Jay Foreman is life!
The only reason because i watched this entire guide is because Jay was in it
The open door buttons don't do anything!?
You've literally just saved me
Don't panic in the morning
I like Jay, I’ll watch ALL videos :)
london tube station shortcuts during rush hour... would be nice... if they redirect the masses avoiding overcrowding - just take a shortcut...
Does a Victoria line train stop at Bank? No.
Where can you get a Oyster card?
At any ticket machine. It really is as simple as that
How to get oyster card?
The only thing I find bad about it is that just a level or two down and it seems fresh air doesn't appear to exist anymore. On the bright side, it saves you money be recreating the experience of both indoor biomes at the Eden Project.
0:51 are you sure about that
I don’t live in london. Why am I watching this? Probably becuase it has Jay Foreman.
Sometimes the open door botton is useful. On the S stock sometimes the doors close. And dont say open the whole time if its terminateing.
This was so beautiful timed - I'm going to London in two days XD
⚽️🎾🎾😆😁🥚🥚🥚🥚
Jay:Does this train go to Bank? Man:Yes! Me:god damn its the victoria line and it doesn’t go there!!
i was waiting for this
We see ur video in English class. And for homework we must see again 😹
Its funny at the end when hes pointing his finger at nothing when they were making this.
people might have been like, "what is this man doing?"
Do not some times the open door button works and the oyster may be more expencice the contactlist
Except for when a contactless credit or debit card is cheaper.
If you use the tube alot its way cheaper to buy an unlimited travel card
YourPalCal if you use the tube a lot then you won't be watching this video.
+Prax Zimmerman But it's by Jay Foreman so it doesn't matter
I tried opening a train with the button at Earl’s Court. Didn’t work
I look. At google maps that thingy next to Eros statue and Piccadilly Circus station is scaffolding (1979/1895/2014)
The open door button should only be used when it illuminates orange, meaning they've been unlocked by the driver.
Some stations in the New York City subway are very close to each other, even though they are not connected to each other.
Im watching this because school 😅
Je regarde la vidéo même chez moi
Their is a cap on what you are charged on daily basis (6.5 pounds). Just put 10 pounds on your card and don't worry about it because you can take 20 train trips and you will only be charged 6.5 pounds maximum for that day. that includes bus transport. I just got back from my trip. Get the oyster card and do not worry. It will pay for itself in one day. I rode the train at least 10 times per day.
Legends say he is still pointing at the video
Well, This is new.
On our trip to the UK in 2014 the train was held up for ten or fifteen minutes at one station because of a man under, so my mom started singing Christmas Carols loudly on the Underground. It would have been more embarrassing had it not been Christmas, which fortunately, it was in fact mid December. Then later on we found out what man under meant.
What did it mean?
@@alextheo965 Someone was on the tracks. Whether by accident or suicide we don’t know.

I use a oyster but it beeps more than once
I been on a tube before
I been on Northern line metropolitan line and circle line
Don't cough or sneeze

A lot of people sugging to use contactless card instead of oyster- unless you have a UK card, check with your bank, they may charge you a fee for using your card in a foreign currency and a foreign exchange fee.

Episode 1. Subway 🚇
0:53 look at the Mocete seating it is the Victoria line and it DOESNT go to Bank
Where is Geoff Marshall?
Why use an oyster card when any contactless card works?
Because not everyone has one. Especially if you're a tourist.
Standing on the right of escalators is normal everywhere except germany
the only paper tickets you should ever use are "insert station here" to zones 1-6
0:41
Something ludicrous :
In South Korea, it is required to stand on BOTH sides of the escalator. In other words, "Don't move on the escalator."
But most Koreans don't follow that requirement
The only put open door buttons on tube trains so you can see who the tourists are!
Now you can use your debit card as an oyster card
DO make sure you tap your Oyster Card on the way out at the other end. I didn't once because the barrier was open and I got charged a fortune.
0:50 thats a victoria line train, and the victoria line doesnt go to bank but I understand that you are acting so its okay.
He’ll make it go to bank.
BANK.
i didn't even know there were door buttons on the tube
Well they don't do anything, so you wouldn't need to!
RedRocky54, They actually do on the S stock, shown in the video, when the train has been at a station for too long the doors automatically close, but can be opened again with the button. This is likely due to the fact that the trains have air-conditioning.
But he said himself in the video that the button doesn't do anything! I feel like you're lying to me.
I'm not. If you are from London, go to Edgware Road or Hammersmith or Aldgate (or other S stock termini) and see the doors close after about a minute at the platform.
It was sarcasm :P
