Charlie Hopkinson is a comedic impressionist, impersonator, voice guy, whatever you want to call it who specialises in voices from current television shows and films. His standup is a character act about a retired maths teacher, his standup set includes impressions of Sir David Attenborough, Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Peaky Blinders, Tommy and Arthur Shelby and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
Always looking to update my roster I look to try out subscriber suggested impressions in the impressions challenge series before honing the best ones. Recently I have added Peaky Blinders and Marvel / Avengers characters to my arsenal!

I started learning impressions in 2012, at the age of 20. You can follow my full impressions journey in my new ‘How to do impressions’ tutorial series
After graduating from the University of Warwick in the summer 2013 he took 4 months out to concentrate on CZcams videos full time, including producing his most viewed video to date ‘Morgan Freeman and 40 other impressions’ with just over 12 million views. This foray into being a ‘full time CZcamsr’ was cut short as he went travelling for 3 months before starting a 2 year teaching Graduate scheme with Charity ‘Teach First’.
While teaching he has performed in and narrated the 4 episode series ‘Lookalikes’ as Morgan Freeman. The show and the narration received a positive reception. The show aired on Channel 4 during the prime time slot of Friday 10pm for three weeks. It is now currently available on Netflix. Charlie also performed with other well known impressionists for an unaired pilot.
Charlie has worked for several prominent brands in relation to their products, including google and formula 1.
Since the summer of 2016 Charlie has once again dived into the world of CZcams, for the first time producing content on a weekly basis. He is also focusing on live performance; he has performed in live venues a total of 3 times to date.

Gandalf wearing shorts is the perfect outfit, befitting of the caliber of the work he is critiquing.
Elrond discusses with Celebrimbor how torn he is feeling, about the possibility of breaking his oath with Prince Durin, by revealing the existence of Mithril to others, especially King Gil-galad, who has questioned Elrond about it, all while literally breaking his oath to Durin, by admitting Mithril's existence to Celebrimbor and showing him the sample piece he was permitted to keep. Absolute stellar writing!

my problem with this show is this elrond would have to be a literal moron well people like galadrial are completly diffrent from there book counterparts she literaly led nations but almost behaves like a child and dont get me started on who the fuck is the guy with the hobbit mystery since if hes gandalf i am ok with it but it rewrites how they were supposed to come middle earth and has to come up with a new reason for why he has a ring of power meanwhile they have a mystery of who or were the hell is sauron, then theres the elf and the girl which im actually unshure if i like or not and i came into this with an open mind
like i like some of it the biggest problem is i know the lore from tolkiens other works and its so incongruent with it at parts its almost rage inducing even if i normaly wouldent hate it

Truly Gandalf proves he truly was the wisest and (with that beard) fairest of all. None of these elves hold a flame of Anor to his magesty
Gandalf, Boromir, and Elrond look a hundred times more convincing that the cgi falling leaving leaves when the Numenorian army is marching through the streets. And a thousand times more convincing that Galadriel's sword "skills."
I've thought about why Elrond didn't fight Isildur that day he had the chance to destroy the ring.
I think the most obvious reason might be that it could have caused a war between elves and humans. After the death of his father, Isildur was king, after all.
Since Sauron was no immediate threat anymore (I mean, it took him 5000 years to make his move after his defeat that day), fighting over the ring might not have gone well with everyone involved.
And with how short lived humans are in comparison to elves, Elrond probably thought there'd be plenty of time to take care of it later. But the ring got lost.

I always assumed Isildur WORE the ring to escape in short order. A guy like Old Elrond would have killed Isildur, and submitted himself to punishment at human hands. The guy was basically an apathetic christ-figure until this show decided to write him as a half-wit.
I think it was moreso that Isildur was a direct living descendent of Elrond's brother Elros and he couldn't bring himself to destroy a part of the family he lost

And the tree roots will turn into Mithril that will itself cure the tree blight and save the light of every elf, but only if we stop all wars against evil, cause evil is bad and we're good.

We get an incompetent duel with Galadriel. I could be watching the duel scene from The Mask of Zorro. At least Catherine Zeta-Jones contributed a considerable visual interest to that scene.
Did you notice Galadriel's horrible wrap-around dress in this scene? It was designed specifically to look like the chest binders used by trans women to have a flat chest.
They purposefully make her bossy and aggressive because they want to promote those as good qualities for a woman to have.
Since the beginning of the show their Galadriel is trans-coded. She literally starts wearing armor after ripping her brother's "dagger" from his cold, dead hands.

In Tolkien's lore Celeborn, Galadriel's husband names her "Galadriel." Here the writers have Finrod, her brother, name her. This goes back to Genesis 2.19 "Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. Genesis 2.20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field." In Genesis 2.23 the man names his newly created companion "woman." Care to guess what the man and the woman do next? What did Finrod and Galadriel do after Frinrod names her?

Finrod is literally supposed to be the most friendly elf ever, he brought man into Beleriand and brought them to good (whose descendants would make Gondor, Arnor, and Numanor). He literally fought Sauron in a magic fight yet they show him on a frontline

I wasn’t looking at my screen for a moment and found myself saying “hey, that sounds like Sean bean.” Sure enough, that’s who the impression was of, so well done, ser Charles, you got the nuances enough that in a few words, I didn’t have to see the character to know the voice. Props
