    MOVIE RANT:
    This was so hard to edit! For copyright reasons, there is no way that I can do HP movies in parts, otherwise my channel will be striked and may be shut down. Those who get away with doing multiple videos per movie are just very lucky they haven't been caught yet since that breaks the Fair Use rule. Our channel is manually reviewed by many major companies, so I work hard to make sure everything stays within the rules :) ... I've learned a lot over the last 2 years of editing here on CZcams ;) ;)
    That being said, I put a lot of effort into keeping the best parts of this last film within this Fair Use Reactions. I actually spent 7 hours editing this one video going back multiple times to revise each scene... making very difficult decisions on what was best to keep in...
    not saying every scene was the best scene... but the best choice... I gave this a lot of love and decided to keep in the scenes that had the most impact on our reactors... any future comments about missing scenes was most likely already heavily considered to stay in this video... but for time restrictions I had to weigh out my options...
    Movies are way harder than TV shows when it comes to Fair Use.
    On our Patreon, however, we include our FULL Reactions where you can follow with your own copyright content :) I know that format doesn't work for everyone, but that's our only other option and what most other CZcamsrs do as well. I make it easy for you to follow along with our Reactions by adding elements to keep us in sync.
    Patreon does not at all take away from our channel. It keeps me editing and creating more content. We still provide the same free entertainment we've always provided here.
    Our FULL Reactions are a newer feature that we can only provide through our Patreon. If we had all our content here for free, we wouldn't financially be able to create videos anymore. I already edit 30-40 hours a week for YT on top of my full time job and other projects... so Patreon is amazing for keeping us going :) Thanks so much!!
    I love you all and always listen to your requests in the comments! I don't have a lot of time to respond right now since I'm editing so much, but I always appreciate what nice things you have to say or help us improve :)
    If creators were allowed to use copyright content a lot more, that would make editing WAY more easier, lol!
    Thanks for understanding!
    Either way, it was great we were able to share our reactions to such an amazing series! :) xoxo

    Neville had the potential to be the Chosen One, but when Voldermort killed Harry's family and marked Harry with the lightning scar, marking him as his equal, Harry became the Chosen One... ironicly that means he was the Chosen One only because he was chosen by Voldermort.

      Ryan Damario Neville’s birthday is actually the day before Harry’s. The prophecy stated that the one to defeat Voldemort would be born at the end of July so Voldemort went for Harry and then shortly after Bellatrix and a couple other death eaters went for the Longbottoms. I remember reading the order of the Phoenix when it came out and thinking how good of a twist it would have been if it wasn’t harry at all but Neville was the chosen one

      The interesting thing is: it could never have been Neville. Unless there was a Death Eater who loved his mum. The only way that Harry is the chosen is because Voldemort was going to spare Lily for Snape. But she chose to die instead.

Regardless even if I was wrong about the movie,which is possible, it doesnt change the fact that in the books Severus died for the son of the man he hated the most, which is noble and heroic, consider then a lot of people JK Rowling herself included do not consider Snape a hero. Snape was abused as a child by his father, so that's why he was so withdrawn and shy. He grew up living close to Lily and so developed a close bond to her because she was his only friend. The fact she was a witch as well helped him essentially latch to her, become obsessed with her. However when they reached Hogwarts and were sorted into different houses-Slytherin and Griffidor-that started the rift between them. However Lily TRIED to stay friends with him, but the stress of school, The Marauders (James, Sirius and Remus) picking on him (there are theories that James picked on Severus BECAUSE he wanted Lily's attention) the pressure of his house and the abuse by his father every time he went home, Severus ended up running with the wrong crowd. It was Severus who heard about HALF of the prophecy and told the dark lord. When he realized WHO the prophecy was about he begged Dumbledore to protect them, in exchange he would become his spy among the Death Eaters.
    As for WHY Harry had to die, He was a Horcroux. The piece of the Dark Lord's soul inside him made Harry essentially immortal, so the piece won't die. As long as the soul piece survives, Voldermort would be able to come back. So when Harry 'died', that piece died with him. When he came back, that piece was no longer there so Voldermort thought, since his connection with Harry was severed, that Harry was also dead.

    Greyback isn't a vampire, but a werewolf (actually the werewolf who bit Lupin when he was a little boy). The only reason that Voldemort chose Harry instead of Neville was the blood status. Neville is a pureblood, but Harry is considered a half-blood (because of his muggleborn mother). Voldemort is a half-blood himself, muggle dad and witch mom. Also "only a true Gryffindor can pull the sword out of the hat". Neville was brave all along, he was just shy. I guess seeing little kids getting tortured pushed him of the edge.

  • @pvksl
    @pvksl Před 6 lety +438

    Couple of things: Ron's ex-girlfriend (Lavender) was killed by Fenrir Greyback, who's a werewolf and a death eater. Lupin and Tonks got together and had a newborn son by the time they were killed, Ted Lupin. Harry was named Teddy's godfather. Some fans do think Harry came back because only a part of Voldemort's soul in him was killed, although others believe Harry still was a master of death (because of being an owner of all three deathly hallows). Both Neville and Harry could've been the boy who lived, I reckon Voldemort's choosing who to go after was the decision that enacted this (self-fulfilling) prophecy. Voldie probably chose Harry because he was half-blood, just like good ole Tom.

    • @macattackk
      @macattackk Před 6 lety +33

      pvksl 1. Fenrir wasn't a death eater, he just helped fight with Voldemort in order to eat people.
      2. The reason Harry survived was because part of Lily's spell still protected him.
      3. Both Harry and Nevil could've been the chosen one. Voldemort went for Harry because he knew snape wanted Lily kept alive (but she wouldn't step aside) and become he was the same blood status, whilst Bellatrix went for Nevil (hence her torturing his parents). Harry ended up as the chosen one become he was marked by Voldemorts curse, making him his equal.

      Oh, I really thought Greyback was a DE, my bad then. Harry being protected by Lily's blood is doubtful in my personal opinion, as Voldemort does share that blood. At least me personally, I was never sure of what exactly that spell was or what it did; after all, many if not most mothers would die for their children's safety.

    I can't remember what the justification in the story was for them to keep Hagrid alive, but the real reason he survived to the end was that J. K. Rowling had that image of Hagrid carrying Harry's lifeless body back to Hogwarts in her mind from early on in the writing of the books. So nothing could kill him before that moment.

      It's been a while since I read the book, but I don't recall any reasons being given. However, IIRC curses had little to no effect on Hagrid since he was half-giant, and I think I had the impression that Voldemort remembered him and still didn't think much of him, and so kept him as a trophy. That way when Harry showed up, Voldemort could take the opportunity to use Hagrid as propaganda -- parade Dumbledore's big bumbling half-breed lapdog in chains while carrying the corpse of The Boy Who Lived -- and the reader gets that powerful and symbolic image.

      Shahla Bou not really. He chose Harry because he saw them as more of a threat than Frank and Alice and Neville. Harry was a half blood, like Voldemort, while Neville was a pure blood. Voldemort saw more of himself in Harry and knew his parents were powerful.

  • @bailydoctrow
    @bailydoctrow Před 6 lety +199

    Voldemort was becoming weaker each time a Horcrux died, and when Harry died (causing the piece of Voldemort's soul within Harry to die) and the snake died, Voldemort became truly mortal, Voldemort's worst fear. Voldemort died because Harry was the master of the Elder wand (because he disarmed Draco), so Voldemort's wand, being the Elder wand, did not want to kill its master; therefore, the wand defected and shot out of his hand. When this happened, Voldemort's killing spell backfired and killed himself. This is especially important because it means that Voldemort died without Harry having to actually murder, or cast a killing spell.

    Fun fact: in the book Harry uses the Elder Wand to fix his own wand. Then puts it back with Dumbledore. If the owner dies naturally, without losing the loyalty of the wand, then it loses all of its power. Or at least that's Dumbledore and Harry's theory at the end.

    Snape's a very complicated character.
    And I love him. Xb I was really sad when I first saw him die, and I was also still sad when I read his death scene, but I'm fine with the fact that he died really. (Which is weird, cause I generally wouldn't be okay with my favourite character dying. Xb) And plus, at least Draco lived so. -I have a weird thing with liking characters like them. Xb- I really liked Lupin too though. It hurt to see him dead. ;c Not to mention him and Tonks had a kid who's got no parents now. ;-; So many tears.
    Also, I've got to wonder what Snape's Patronus was before, because it wasn't always a doe technically, I'm sure, and he was super skilled, so I imagined he had to have known the spell fairly early, or he learned it quickly. (Though, maybe he learned it after meeting her I guess, and so it's always been a doe cause like, his love for her was there from the start honestly. ^^;) The only reason it became one was cause he loved Lily that much, so his became her's. (If you read the books, it kind of goes over how Patronuses correlate with love when looking at Tonk's Patronus which changes at some point because she loves Lupin I believe. I think it's in the sixth one ?) _You may already know this, so I'm really sorry. ^^:_
    Any ways, yeah. If you ever get the chance, even if you don't want to read the books, you should definitely check out the Snape's memories chapter in the last one. It's called the Prince's Tale, and it's pretty great in my opinion. ^^; Has a little more when it comes to his and Lily's relation ship and how they sort of fell apart. (There's even a small bit where Harry like, flat out tells Voldemort what Snape really was in the book too actually. You know what, I'll just say I recommend reading the books. They really pull you in, and there's more neat details and such. Like all this Snape junk I'm going on about, and some other things, like in the sixth, or maybe the fifth one Tonks shows up more, there's a part where it talks about how Draco was actually talking/crying to Moaning Myrtle in the 6th one, and there's other things like that which I just can't remember at the moment. (Oh, to add to something you talked about with Snape being involved in the battle, I believe the book also mentioned that he was the one who took out George's ear, but it was by accident. )
    *God, I'm sorry for leaving a paragraph mostly about Snape and such. Xb I'm also super sorry if you already knew this junk. I just felt like typing I guess. ;-;*
    Any how, this was fun.

    Great reactions series!
    So ... addressing your question as to how Harry came back it is really left down to you to decide whether you believe it was hallows or horcruxes (or maybe both) that saved Harry.
    Option 1. The horcrux that was inside Harry when Voldemort cast the spell was obliterated and no longer attached to Harry - leaving Harry's soul pure and free to return - leading to that werid inner monologue with himself in the guise of Dumbledore.
    Option 2. Harry entered the forest when he was ready to die as the rightful master of all three hallows, even though he only had in possession at the time the cloak and the stone. The elder wand's allegiance switched to Harry when Harry overpowered Draco at Malfoy manner (who had disarmed Dumbledore). Thus as Harry entered the forest having already accepted his fate you can say on many levels he had become the master of death.
    Whether you choose option 1 or 2 (or both) as a reason Harry came back I will leave up to you...

      It's explained in the books how he survived. The charm that was placed on Harry by his mom when she sacrificed herself was supposed to go away when he turned 17 or when he no longer called the Durley's house his home. He was 17 when Voldemort killed him which meant he should've been able to kill him but since Voldemort used Harry's blood to bring himself back to life, he kept the charm alive which meant he couldn't kill Harry.

  • @phantomtheorist3388
    @phantomtheorist3388 Před 4 lety +3

    I really think Snape’s memories while beautiful in the films, don’t tell the full picture still. Because Snape’s story is sad, but I actually think what makes it more powerful is knowing Snape wasn’t just a victim and the books show that.
    In the scene where James is picking on Severus, Lily defends him and then Snape gets embarrassed and calls her a mudblood which is what ended their friendship. We also learn in the books from Sirius that Severus never missed a chance to hex James and Severus invented lots of violent hexes and cures which he used on James. Also in Snape’s memories we learn Snape first wanted Voldemort to just kill James and Harry and spare Lily, and only wanted to hide the whole family when he realized there wasn’t any other way to save her. He was also the one who told part of the prophecy to Voldemort in the first place, which lead Voldemort to go after them. If was only near the very end that he became a spy, and only after Lily’s death that he started to become a better person.
    But even then he was not the best person because he traumatized Neville and hated Harry just because he looked like James. But then he also did some decent things like shielding the kids from Lupin as a werewolf (although he did reveal he was a werewolf to the whole school just to ruin Remus’s life). And then he had that long plan and understanding with Dumbledore which is where his character development really came in.
    So I think that makes Snape’s story more potent in my opinion. Because he wasn’t a helpless victim and he wasn’t a good person. He was selfish but slowly he started to learn and do things for the greater good in the end.
    As for James and his friends, I think it’s an interesting contrast because while Severus got older and more interesting in the Dark Arts, James and his friends started just as immature troublemakers who didn’t understand the world around them but then they changed as people a great deal in their last couple years and became selfless people. But while they went in different paths, the thing that brings them both together in a way is love.
    James changed because he loved his friends and wanted to protect them, and to be a better man for Lily...so much so that he was willing to die to protect them. Severus always loved Lily but while at first that caused him to be selfish, after her death that love inspired him to become a better person and risk his life for a greater purpose.

    The reason Harry didn't actually die when he dropped the resurrection stone was because Voldemort was resurrected using Harry's blood in The Goblet of Fire. And the love of Harry's mother when she sacrificed herself for Harry was still strong in him and it lingered in his blood. So even though Voldemort used the killing curse on Harry, the fact that they shared the same blood coupled with the fact that the elder wand refused to submit itself to Voldemort completley is what saved Harry in the long run

    Thank you for the reactions! So, you are definitely on point about Harry being the owner of the Elder wand. In the books, the elder wand was buried with Dumbledore, but even so, Draco was now the owner due to him disarming Dumbledore before he was killed. The scene at the Malfoy house where Harry snatches Draco's wand from him signified Harry beating out Draco thus becoming the new owner of the Elder wand. Interestingly, neither one was required to even have the Elder wand in possession for this to happen.
    With this in mind, when Voldemort "killed" Harry with the Elder wand he thought he was the owner (or master) of the wand having killed Severus Snape. However with Harry being the true owner, the wand will not kill it's own master and thus why Harry did not die. It did kill Voldemort's soul as you know. Additionally, in the final battle between Voldemort and Harry the reason Voldemort died was truly because he was using the Elder wand. Voldemort casted the spell 'Avada Kedavra' and Harry casted 'Expelliarmus'. Again, the Elder wand will not kill it's own master so the 'Avada Kedrava' spell rebounded off the 'Expelliarmus' spell and killed Voldemort. You don't get any of this explained in the movie.
    Many people already explained this in the comments but I am just confirming that what made Harry the 'Chosen One' was the fact that he was chosen by Voldemort. It could have been Harry or it could have been Neville, but Voldemort chose Harry by showing up at his home and trying to kill him. Because Lilly died protecting Harry, he was protected by old magic that consisted of Lilly's love for him thus why Voldemort's killing curse bounced off Harry as a baby, leaving a mark (lightning-shaped bolt), and nearly destroying him the first time. The reason Neville's parents were tortured by Bellatrix was for this reason as well, only Voldemort sent her to kill them while he chose to deal with the Potters himself.
    Lilly's love and sacrifice was also the reason why Harry had to live with the Dursley's all these years. According to Dumbledore, as long as Harry was taken in by the blood relative of his mother then that blood would shield him from harm and more importantly Voldemort. He explained this in the letter he left with Harry as a baby at the doorsteps of the Dursley's and thus why his Aunt Petenuia agreed to allow him to live with him despite their misgivings about him and his kind (witches and wizards). This protection wore off when he turned 17 thus why the Order of the Phoenix came to escort him from the Dursley's home.
    With this in mind, at the Battle of Hogwarts when Harry 'died' he had done so intentionally in order to protect his friends and family. For this reason, no one else died when the battle began again. Spells actually bounced off of everyone due to Harry's love and sacrifice for them.
    Unfortunately, Tonks and Remus did not play significant roles in the movies but you always felt their presence in the books especially when it came to Remus' concern about his lycanthropy (being a werewolf) and the miserable life he lived with it due to the wizarding world's prejudice against them. For this reason, Remus denied having feelings for Tonks and tried to keep his distance by going on long, dangerous missions for the Order. Eventually, Tonks had to convince him she loved him no matter what and he agreed to allow himself to be happy with her and to be loved by her. They married and had a son which they named Teddy Tonks in honor of Tonks' father (Theodore Tonks) who was a muggle-born wizard. He was in hiding from snatchers, but was eventually caught and killed. When Remus found out she was pregnant he became greatly concerned and ashamed believing his son may have inherited his lycanthropy, so he ran off in search of Harry to join him, Hermione, and Ron in their quest. Harry rejected his offer when he caught on that Remus was trying to run away from his problems and accused him of being willing to make his son fatherless and leaving Tonks to care for the baby alone over an issue such as lyncanthropy. This really upset Remus, but he eventually returned to Tonks (prior to the baby being born) and finally learned to accept being happy and having a loving family. He also asked Harry to be the child's godfather. Of course, as you know Remus and Tonks decided to join in at the Battle of Hogwarts costing both their lives and leaving Teddy an orphan. He was raised by his grandmother (Tonk's mother - sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy).
    Lastly, something of note in the series with the Marauders. Moody, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. If you reverse the order, it is the order in which all of them died. Prongs (James), Padfoot (Sirius), Wormtail (Peter), Moody (Remus).
    That was a lot of information and yet there is still even more that the movies could not carry over from the books. Again, really enjoy the reviews and am looking forward to the Harry Potter discussion if you go forward with it. Also, it would be great if you did choose to watch Fantastic Beasts as well.

    I always figured that Harry never actually died all the way when Voldemort killed him. The way I saw it was Voldemort kill the horcrux that was inside Harry but not the soul of Harry. So when Harry fell and everybody thought he was dead he was just unconscious. The amount of time he spends with Dumbledore at the king's cross station is arbitrary it could have been an hour, 7 hours or just 10 seconds.

    the cool thing is that the actor that is playing Albus Severus Potter or the child of harry is the actor that plays baby Harry in the first movie "Sorcerer Stone"

    i dont know if it was said but the prophecy couldve been both harry and nevile. but by going after harry he made sure that the prophecy was about him. its just that the details explaining who it was couldve also fit nevile.

    John Williams only did the first three movies. These last two movies were done by Alexandre Desplat. GORGEOUS score.

    In my mind Snape, Sirius, Draco and Harry show us what can happen to kids who grow up in toxic homes. Snape grew up in an abusive home where he received no love, then he went to school and the one person he loved loved the person who bullied him the most. He craved belonging and so he was easy prey for the Death Eaters to recruit. Voldemort is like any evil leader who will always prey on the weak, the isolated and the alienated. Ultimately it was LOVE that drew Snape back and he then risked his life for years to try to repay for the bad he had done as a stupid teenager/young man. A lot of the bitterness remained and meant he acted like a bitter, twisted jerk because he never got love in return, he never had anyone living to actually help him deal with it all. Sirius grew up in a toxic home but he found love with his friends and with the Potters. That drew him away from the path his brother took and helped him to step away from the toxicity of his family. At times though we still see that bitterness come to the surface, the inability to let go of the past eg animosity to Snape, but never on the scale of Snape. Draco desperately wants his father's love and has his mother's, but that draws him towards the Death Eaters that actually he realises pretty quick he doesn't want. By the final film he looks ready to break away completely, he's lost all respect for his father, but it is his mother he can't leave and so at least at that time he can't walk away. It is fortunate for his future that Voldemort is defeated. Harry lives with the abusive Dursleys but we know that his mother's love has protected him and I think that brings him through until, like Sirius, he finds love at Hogwarts. The combination of the two leads him down the path he is on.

    "Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies..." is the part of the prophecy that makes both Neville and Harry candidates for the chosen one. Both had parents that multiple times stood up to Voldemort and his army. The next part after "and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not" is probably the part that decides which one of them is the chosen one. Voldemort chose to go after Harry, and by doing so marked Harry as his equal.
