Fun Fact: Alan Rickman was told by JK Rowling when he was cast in the first movie the big secret that Snape treated Harry the way he did because he hated Harry’s father because he bullied Snape as a child, but still looked out for him because he was in love with Harry’s mother. He promised to never tell anyone until the final book came out.
Alan Rickman should’ve gotten a damn Oscar nomination for this movie. He was absolutely phenomenal throughout the pencieve scene, it’s heartbreaking to watch.

I know you really like Snape, but how he was written and as a character one has to accept how she wrote him not how one thinks, and i hate when also JK changes her mind, once you row with something stick by your originial.

I think it's an interesting visual when they show Draco staring at his father and NOT moving an inch when Lucius is calling him, but when his Mother says very gently "come." Draco suddenly twitches for a moment unsure about what to do. It shows a kind of power dynamic shifting in the family. When Lucius called Draco is was desperate, but also a command. The way he's treated Draco his whole life. But Narcissa called to him like a Mother. Not a Command. I suspect that from that moment on, there was a significant power shift in their family. Narcissa became the alpha in charge and Draco was her heir, and Lucius had to settle for just being lucky to be a part of the family. Of course I'm just musing, but from the way Draco ONLY started to act confused after his Mother called to him, it shows she's stepped up her role as a mother and started overruling Lucius. It always seemed like Lucius was kind of a bully, even to Draco.

Oh, man.... seeing Fred lying on the floor in the Great Hall dead is heartbreaking, especially seeing Ron break down in tears. (Hearing that Harry had to sacrifice himself to give them a chance of defeating Voldemort and the Death Eaters didn't help that grief.) Also, I was at the midnight premiere of The Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 3D. The scene where Mrs. Weasley took out Bellatrix got a massive cheer from the audience.
6 points I've made in the past regarding Harry Potter:
    1. The prophecy Professor Dumbledore mentioned in Professor Snape's memory that mentioned a baby born at the end of July was partially true. There were actually two: Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. They were born in the same month and year, but Neville is only 1 day older than Harry. (Neville: 30 July 1980, Harry: 31 July 1980.) Voldemort had chosen to target a then 15-month-old Harry, thus marking him as his equal. Neville lived a life free of that fear with his grandmother, despite the constant painful reminder of his parents being permanently admitted to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange.
    2. After the Battle For Hogwarts, George Weasley could never cast the Patronus Charm again, since it relies on your happiest memory to work, and literally ALL of his happy memories involved his deceased twin brother Fred. Most likely for a while, until he married Angelina Johnson and named his son after his twin. (According to The Wizarding World website)
    3. Voldemort's death after his battle with Harry wasn't supposed to look like he got snapped out by Thanos, and it wasn't just them isolated in the courtyard.
In the book, Harry and Voldemort battle for the last time in front of everyone else, resulting in Voldemort dying as a mortal man once Neville sliced off Nagini's head, effectively saving Ron & Hermione in the process.
    4. Harry didn't snap the Elder Wand in the book version. He mends his original wand (the one he got in Philosopher's Stone from Ollivander's) with it, then returns it to Professor Dumbledore's grave.
    5. I give HUGE props to Narcissa for straight-up lying to Voldemort after Harry confirmed that Draco was alive. It shows that neither she nor her son wanted the Death Eater life.
    6. That one goblin who stared in shock as the Ukrainian Ironbelly busted through the floor of Gringotts seriously looked a bit like Donald Trump. 😆🤣

      @ricardoquintero7160 Před 5 měsíci +15

Still irks me to this day that they changed the ending. Voldemort's death was symbolic and meant to show him as he truly was, just a man terrified of death, not a supernatural being. In the book, the bond between Harry and his wand is more fleshed out, and fixing the wand in Dumbledore's office would've been a nice touch of something old coming back, especially after we lost Hedwig.

A bit of lore from the novel; Goblins have a different view on items that they make. They see it as a gift to the person it was made for. When that person dies, it returns to the Goblins. It's like a loan, while alive. The Sword of Gryffindor is seen by the Goblins, as belonging TO the Goblins, and its stolen property until returned. Bill Weasely did explain that to Harry before he went to talk to Griphook. Be careful about your dealings with Goblins.
This movie has one of my favourite delivered lines: "I've always wanted to use that spell". It's almost as good as the Goblet Of Fire "Hermione. You're a girl" "Oh, well spotted."

That was one adorable intro ❤
Griphook, being so knowledgeable when it comes to the Sword of Gryffindor, sure sounds weird asking for it as payment for sneaking Harry into Gringotts. It makes you wander if he truly wanted the sword or if he just tested Harry's willingness to sacrifice anything for his mission.
I'm glad you pointed out how Ollivander was embarassed about helping (well, being tortured into helping) Voldemort. It's a recurring theme throughout the movies, we've seen it with Slughorn too in the 6th movie and to a certain degree, with Ravenclaw's ghost too. Usually people get angry, want to hurt the one who tricked them, but with Voldemort, it's just shame.
7:03 - that's what makes the Imperio Curse that much more horrifying when compared to Cruciatus, which simply tortures, inflicts physical pain. With Imperio, you can make a person do whatever you want, inflict much more damage to their psyche by making them do somethin they would never do normally.
The escape from the bank, with the formerly imprisoned dragon - it was nothin short of epic back then and seeing it again with you was just as mindblowing.
Aberforth's introduction is pretty shocking - you get the chance to see someone so angry at Dumbledore, and a relative, his brother, at that. That makes you wonder just how badly things have gotten between them.
McGonagall stepping up and chasing Snape away was one incredibly badass scene. Right after, she sends the Slytherin to the dungeons, organizes the defenses, brings the statues to life in order to defend the school - they really made up for her reduced screentime in the previous movies.
20:40 - this was by far one of the highlights of this video, loved to see what a powerful reaction drew out of you two!
23:00 - Hermione certainly loved to see that Ron's actually been paying attention to what she said and remembered.
26:40 - Aberforth really seemed to inspire those around him, that was a fantastic scene, repelling all those dementors.
27:00 - Here we can see just how little Voldemort knows, despite his boasting about how exceptional he is. To him, only killing can be the way in which you gain control of an opponent's wand. It never occured to him that something as simple as disarming the opponent is enough.
Seeing her eyes one last time before letting go - Snape's final words "You have your mother's eyes" hurt that much more once you find out all he did for the Potters.
The flashbacks, finally seeing Snape's fully story - this is by far the most heartbreaking moment in all 8 movies.
33:08 - Dumbledore was being a bit ironic with that line, given how Snape was so reticent to help Harry but he did everythin to protect his mom.
In the end, Harry did the bravest thing possible: he got rid of the two Deathly Hallows that could only bring him unhappiness and kept the one that's the most inconspicuous.
The scenes from "19 years later" were such a relief to see, especially after the way the action ended in the "present time". Harry explaining to his son what his names mean, how he can choose his house - it feels like the circle is finally complete.
Thank you for the beautiful reaction and for sharing this incredible journey with all of us ❤
If you feel like staying into the Harry Potter universe for just a bit longer, "Fantastic Beasts" trilogy is somethin to check out. The story is intriguing, the characters will make you get attached to them very quickly and the prospect of finding out more about Dumbledore should be enough incentive on its own to check it out 😉

And with Hermione he only made 1 insult where it was mean and unnecessary and unprovoked by Hermione which was about her teeth. She deserved the insufferable know it all by breaking the rules, Snape made it clear he didn't want her to answer and she did so twice not just once either.

@denizkenger52 He's an adult teacher. He bullied Neville to the point that he was the thing Neville was most afraid of.
He made fun of Hermione's looks, on top of treating her poorly.
He punished Harry for being the son of a man while helping him from behind the scenes for being the son of a woman. But if a parent took care of a kid by still mocked them and called them names, that'd still be bullying.
He took points from houses just because they weren't Slytherin and allowed Slytherin students to bully others. He was a teacher with a genuine power dynamic that he lauded over students.
I genuinely think it's incredible to claim he's not a bully.
Also, you point to two moments covered in the books/movies - which don't cover every day. Do you also think Draco's only bullying moments are the ones mentioned in the books/movies?

    • @denizkenger52

@@chaddon7685 i already accept he bullied Neville.
He made fun of Hermione’s appearance once as I mentioned, bullying is repeated over a period of time this is just once. The poor treatment otherwise was provoked by Hermione so not bullying.
Harry mocked Snape and treated him bad too, so this is just mutual conflict rather than bullying as both sides are mistreating each other.
He usually had reasons for taking points off people so I wouldn’t generalise it as doing it because they’re not Slytherins. There are unfair moments of course but I don’t think it’s the regular.
I never said he’s not a bully. I said he didn’t bully children. I said he bullied Neville who is a child, but children means multiple kids and I don’t think he bullied any child but Neville.
Wdym? Do you expect me to give examples of things that didn’t happen just because they could’ve happened? Do you also think Dumbledore abused Voldemort when he was a kid because there’s no direct mention against it?

Major plot point that isn't talked about in the movies and so it confuses people:
The reason why Harry was able to survive was because Voldemort took his blood, effectively taking Lily's protection into himself, binding Harry to life as long as Voldemort remained alive. With that and the Elder Wand belonging to Harry, he was double protected from Voldemort killing him.

33:14 most of us book fans, agree that they should’ve added a specific scene with Tonks. Allow me to explain: in the half blood Prince Tonks has gone through some changes along with her Patronus, Harry questions why her Patronus changed. At the end of the book and reveals that she’s in love with Lupin, and that a Patronus will change to match the ones we love. So when Dumbledore asks: “Lily… after all this time?” He is really asking “You still love her… after all this time?” To which, a shiver will run down my spine every time I hear it, Snape replies “Always…”. You see… Lily Evens (Potter)’s Patronus was a Doe…
Ps. Also most people tend to forget but Neville showed himself to be a true Griffindore cause he was able to pull the sword out of the hat.

    • @denizkenger52
      @denizkenger52 Před 4 měsíci

Technically though the books never confirmed Snape's patronus was a doe because of Lily. As in, it could've always been set to be a doe as we never see a change for him and it's never directly said that his patronus took the form of doe due to Lily's patronus being a doe. There is an unlikely chance it would've been doe even if he hadn't met Lily. I know most don't consider it a possibility of course and it makes things less intense but it is a possibility.

Your faces, reactions and epiphanies during the memory was friggan amazing and spot on to how I felt when I read the books (as I read the books before I saw the movies)!! You guys should totally read the series as well, there is SO MUCH left out of the books in these movies and it is sooo sooo good!
It's so mind blowing the writing on this and all the tie in's and references to previous bits - and how genius Dumbledore was in engineering it all - when you guys said that all was going according to his plan, you meant Voldemort, but really it was all going to Dumbledore's plans. It goes into more detail in the books the why's and how's of Harry's survival but it is surely a masterpiece of strategy!
Harry was saved so many times by a mother's love. His mother sacrificing herself saved Harry from the killing curse - Ron's mother Mrs. Weasely was such an influence in his life - and Narcissa Malfoy, noticing that he was in fact alive and asking him if Draco was alive and he nodded so she knew that the only way she would be allowed to go to Hogwarts was at the head of a conquering army and so she lied to Voldemort and told him that Harry was dead and then departing with husband and son because her family was more important to her than Lord Voldemort.
You guys are too cute at the end with the '19 years later'! There's a fun music group, I don't know if they are still around or not but they do Harry Potter inspired songs. One of their songs is called 'The Bravest Man I Ever Knew' you guys should check it out, even if its not on camera czcams.com/video/JybrDuxRN78/video.html

I give mad props to people like Helena Boheim Carter (Bellatrix's actress) and anyone else who was "acting" under the polyjuice potion as you literally have to act like you're acting like your own character, but in a different enough way to make it obvious that someone else is your character, but not too obvious because obviously they are trying to disguise themselves. So yeah, do give props to anyone who had to do that in all of these movies!
And of course Professor Snape.. we now know the truth. But.. if you follow him through almost every Harry Potter movie, at one point or another in most of them he really does try to protect and aide Harry.
-In the Philospher's Stone: He casts an anti spell to help Harry survive on his broom when Voldemort tried to kill him in the Quiditch match
-In The Chamber of Secrets: Snape was the first one to show Harry the Expelliarmus spell (The Disarming charm), Harry would use this throughout every single movie after. He also disarms the snake that Malfoy tries to sick on Harry in the movie
-In the prisoner of Azkaban: Snape REALLY wants the kids to read up on werewolves and lycans even though it's not what they were studying at all at the time. This is because Snape knows about Lupin and Serius Black being shapeshifters. He also arrives in the shack to help control the situation by disarming everyone in the room until he knows who is against Harry. He throws himself in front of Harry and the others as a transformed Lupin is about to attack them. He also is out in the corridors at night when Harry is roaming around and attempts to get Harry back to his room safely before Lupin shows up and does the same.
-In The Order of the Phoenix: Snape attempts to teach Harry the power to resist Voldemort's mind invasion powers that were bothering Harry and really did attempt to give him what advice he could, even if Harry was resistant to his advice. Snape also doesn't help Umbridge at all throughout the movie even when asked to
-In the Half Blood Prince: Snape stops Harry from going up to the upper parts of the bell tower where he would have been easily apprehended. He also stops Bellatrix from capturing or killing Harry outside of Hagrid's hut, instead disarming Harry himself with a less potent spell.
-In the Deathly Hollows Part 1: Snape suggests using decoys to transport Harry safely in the beginning. Snape also is the one who guides Harry to the sword of Gryffindor (as we find out in this movie).
Along with all of this he tried to undermine Voldemort every step of the way if possible. In a sense, Snape was the man who cared most about Harry in the entire school and risked his life multiple times in the process.

The thing he hated most is just how he looked of course I'm sure.. reminded of Harry's father. This is in no way said to make it look like Dumbledore doesn't care about Harry, as if he IS a pig for slaughter like Snape said.

There's a lot of Harry Potter related short documentaries on CZcams to react to, like who was recast, and why, or what happened to X, Y and Z after the Battle Of Hogwarts etc. Now you know the entire story, it's well worth exploring them for additional lore. The boy playing Crabbe or Goyle (I always get them mixed up) lasted until the final two movies. He got mixed up in the Tottenham riots, got arrested, charged etc and was dropped from Harry Potter. Some characters had very little roles to start with, like the Director's daughter was standing next to Hermione during the Sorting in the first movie. When that character returned later on, with important lines to deliver, she was recast with an actual actor. Other things just give you additional insight when you look back at the movies, like Ginny Weasley in the Gryffindor Quidditch team in the sixth movie. In the books, it explains that she often plays and trains with her brothers, but that's not explained in the movies. She goes onto become a Professional Quidditch player, then, as many pro sportspeople do, transitioned into reporting on Quidditch for the Daily Prophet.
Can I also suggest you react to the Fantastic Beasts trilogy? It is a bit different, when you transport the location to America, when it's a VERY British franchise. You do get used to it, and it is VERY good, once your mind accepts it's the MAGIC WORLD, but nothing at all to do with Harry Potter. It's set DECADES before Harry was born. JK Rowling (whatever you think of her) is an INCREDIBLE world builder.

I remember reading that he was actually in jail during the filming of Part 1 and that's why they have Blaize Zabini (the black Slytherin) instead of Crabbe. Speaking of terrible losses , we witness the losses of Remus , Tonks , Fred , Lavender Brown , Colin Crewey , very powerful and heartbreaking movie 💔🖤 big thank you Magy and Foxy for amazing , magical trip with all of us , it was truly wonderful , magical ride ❤

(copy and pasted from a website)
In the first film, Snape asks Harry, ‘Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?’
According to Victorian flower language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning “my regrets follow you to the grave” and wormwood means “absence” and also typically symbolises bitter sorrow. If you combined that, Snape’s words mean “I bitterly regret Lily’s death”. Knowing this after watching the Deathly Hallows makes it even more upsetting for Snape as he gave us this hint in the very first book/movie and we had no idea what it would mean.

Something about the end that took me a while to absorb: When Voldemort tried to kill Harry, the reason it killed the horcrux but not Harry was because the elder wand was loyal to Harry. A wand never seriously harms who it belongs to. Dumbledore had no way to know that these events would happen, so he didn't know that Voldemort could kill the horcrux with Harry surviving. Very well written plot twist.

Prince’s Tale gotta one of the best chapters in the series. There is so much information left off in the movie Snape memories tho. But Alan Rickman’s portrayal is so heart wrenching!
It’s a shame that most of the discourse around Snape just boils down to “didn’t get the girl so he bullied her son terrorised kids” and ignores all the layers of his character.

You guys saying Neville is a hero because of the bridge: Neville is a hero long before that.
During the year the trio are out looking for Horcruxes, the rest of Dumbledore’s Army was still at the school. The new (Death Eater) professors started teaching the dark arts and punishing students viciously.
Neville, Luna and Ginny stepped up to lead Dumbledore’s Army, openly defied the professors and protected those who couldn’t protect themselves. Neville was doing so much that he had to start living out of the Room of Requirement, else he would be tortured / killed.
In Order of the Phoenix, we see that Bellatrix’s escape motivates Neville to try harder with magic (she tortured his parents to insanity, hardly recognizing their own son). This continues in HBP and he becomes quite talented at magic he works on and gains a lot of confidence. All of his character growth builds towards him becoming a freedom fighter and protector of the weak. He is able to pull the sword from the hat when he stands up to Voldemort and kills the snake.
Neville started out rather shy and untalented, but he serves as a great example of what being brave in the face of danger can do for you. He’s my favorite character in the series.

My interpretation of the symbolism of Albus Severus Potter:
The wizard who died for duty.
The wizard who died for love.
The wizard who died for loyalty. And live again.

Don't put away your wands girls.....☺. Remember , you two now have to watch how the whole magical world really began. "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them" series. The story takes you to the beginning of all wizards including Dumbledore and how they fought against evil. Correct me if I am wrong...but I think there are "5" movies. Check it out and enjoy!🥰🥰

Magy, Griphook the goblin was played by Warwick Davis. He also played Professor Flitwick and the Gringott’s bank teller in the first film. You also saw him as the lead character in Willow, and his first role was the little bearlike Ewok that finds Princess Leia in the forest in Return Of The Jedi.

My favorite part in hindsight is that Snape definitely knew who owned the elder wand, so he also died protecting Draco!

According to JK Rowling the author of Harry Potter, Harry and Ron decided to not finish school and instead became Aurors (dark wizard catchers like Mad Eye Moody) at the Ministry of Magic. After several years Ron retires from his job at the Ministry and went to work with George Weasley at the joke shop to help him out. Harry eventually became Head of Auror Office and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
Hermione did go back to Hogwarts after the Battle to finish school and graduated. At one point she went to look for her parents and returned their memories. Later after she graduated she started working at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic and helped to create laws to protect and improve the lives of sentient magical creatures like house elves, goblins and centaurs to name a few. Much later Hermione eventually became Minister of Magic.
Neville Longbottom became the new Herbology professor at Hogwarts and marries the Hufflepuff student Hannah Abbott who is the grandchild of the owner of The Leaky Cauldron.
Luna became a Magizoologist and married Newt Scamander's (the fictional author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find) grandson, Rolf Scamander. Together they travel the world looking for rare magical beasts.
Professor McGonagall became the new Hogwarts headmistress.
Before Ginny married Harry she became a professional Quidditch player. After she retired she started writing sports articles for the Daily Prophet wizarding newspaper.
Harry and Ginny had three kids together. If I recall the names right, the eldest son was named James Sirius. The second born is Albus Severus. And the youngest child is Lily Luna. Harry is the godfather to Remus and Tonks' son, Teddy Lupin and made sure he was well provided for.
Ron and Hermione's children is Rose and Hugo.
Draco's child is Scorpius Malfoy. Lucius Malfoy again got away scot free with his crimes as a Deatheater like he did after the first war when Harry was a baby where he convinced the Ministry that he was forced to do what he did. Draco got a job at the Ministry and remained on friendly and respectful terms with Harry after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Umbridge was sent to Azkaban for her crimes.
Hagrid remained a professor at Hogwarts but never married.
George Weasley married Angelina Johnson who had been Fred Weasley's date for the Yule Ball in Goblet of Fire.
Harry and Dudly remained on friendly terms and stayed in touch with each other to the point that they even would send each other Christmas cards every year.
Harry, Ron and Hermione in time were each later featured on Chocolate Frog Cards.
There are more stories like that that can be read in the Wizarding World website and also found in documentaries with JK Rowling where she goes into family tree details after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Snapes Patronus was a doe which is the same as Lilys. Also yes that was his Patronus at the frozen lake that helped Harry.
Snape was showing Dumbledore the Doe to prove he still loves Lily even to this day. Super sad you guys edited that part out with Dumbledore asking *after all this time?* And him replying *always*

It's a trick. They know the real Bellatrix wouldn't have her wand. So the correct answer is, "You know I don't have my wand. It was stolen."

But the book stated that she would have either been lended or made another wand very rapidly, because Bellatrix would never allow herself to be wandless for long. She would have already updated her wand description with the bank, as they suspected someone might have attempted to break into her vault.
