I've got the U.S. version of this one in MAME and it has no music in it (that's how it was emulated, BTW!) so it's nice to finally hear what the OST on this one's really like. it's not like Twin Cobra's, FixEight's or even Truxton/Tatsujin's that's for sure, but it's alright. yet sound or no sound, this is a nice departure from all of ToaPlan's shmups and one of their most fun games as well!

Honestly, a lot of beat-em-ups can be a bit campy, but this was actually pretty decent. I liked using the recruitable football player.

I was watching in mild horror and major amusement and thought, Ok, the sounds, the way they fall all very similar to final fight. I had to laugh a bit here and there but I was dying when you had the boss (the one after your super sexy booty and back bonus punch out) with the rose (that little like a purple pants no makeup mine) and choked him by the neck all the while repeatedly kneeing his crotch.... I was dying crying laughing. I have no idea why parents felt video games were too violent. lol.
I have so many questions. Why is the Hunky Tonk Man mad at all these people? Like two thirds of them just seem to be randos minding their own business. Why did that ship have a hold full of pro wrestlers guarding a crate full of Discount Nonunion Blanka? How does he end up inside what appears to be a Buddhist temple fighting Shinobi? So awesome.
Depends on what your arcade hardware is going to perform. Neo Geo for example had "only" 84 KB VRAM and could do fantastic things with it. Main memory and VRAM quickly got into several MB of size during the early to mid 90s, especially on 3D hardware and some of Capcom's and Konami's 2D systems.
I love how this game has a ton of stolen sound samples, the KIYAAH sound when you select your character is ripped directly from Enter The Dragon and even though you didn't show it, I clearly remember that when you die in the game, the characters scream like Jean Claude Van Damme.
I can’t believe Atari made this game! As far as side-scrolling beat ‘em ups are concerned, Knuckle Bash seems decent. I wonder why it was never ported to the console systems of the day?
Something this game misses is the display of the names of the enemies just like in Cadillac and Dinosaurs. Does anyone know the names of those evil guys?

This one is just strangely enjoyable. It feels cheap but there's nothing offensively bad. Cathartic and has nice music.
