Those things are insane, i just got 3 of them for myself and the Rek RC crew, and were going ro be using them for our rc decathlon. They can literally blow your hair back.
Just received a couple of these fan setups and and you can’t really hear the power of these fans on video until you have one in front of you. You can FEEL the power and it’s scary Powerful. I did a bench test and my fans where floating up & off my table in a small hover , seriously! I don’t ever leave comments on things but had to for these fans!
With everyone giving you suggestions left and right, I will just say cool fans and I like the setup. Thanks for sharing this, it was very helpful!!! Looking to get my X Maxx next spring. But for now just enjoying the Arrma Fireteam BLX. In 3 months of solid running no breakages or anything bent. It's a Tank!!
Us bird boyz use fans on our stuff too, BUT we use (my design of) the balance plug on the batteries. Just use a balance lead & attach the fans' connector. i use 6S balance extensions. Just use the main positive, & the 1 negative on the number of cells (1 black wire nearest the positive= 1s, 2nd black 2s, etc) for the max input the fan can handle. 😁
I didn't want an imbalance between the two batteries so I used a separate battery

As "nice looking" as that can mount is, I'm not sold on it...primarily because it's 3D printed, but also because of it being held in-place by zip-ties, and also because of having to find a place for a separate battery (something you, yourself, said you weren't too happy about).
For my X-MAXX, I came up with an interesting way of adding a heatsink/can combo that not only cools incredibly well, but also relies entirely on screws holding everything in place. To start, I took an Arrma Kraton/Outcast 8S heatsink (ARA390296), and installed it rotated 90-degrees (so that the can mount was facing up). Obviously, this required cutting some of the aluminum, so as to open a 'space' where the three motor wire tabs are. There area lot of great heatsinks out there...but, I don't think there's any better than this heatsink. Horizon Hobby brands do a lot of things "wrong"...but, they also do a lot of things "right", and this is one of them. Finally, for the 'blowing' duties, I installed a dual tornado-style fan into the heatsink, plus a single into the ESC (off the top of my head, I'm forgetting the brand...and, I can't check right now, as the wife is still sleeping (X-MAXX is on a shelf in the bedroom)), with both fan setups powered by ESCs BEC, through the Rx. I haven't checked temps in quite a while...but, I do know that everyone at the LHS who's seen it all agreed it was the coolest running X-MAXX they've ever seen.
The only 'downside' to my cooling setup was how long, and all the test-fitting, it took to get the Arrma heatsink properly mounted/fitting into the Castle motor, so as to not interfere with the motor wires, or wire mounting tabs. However, in the end, it, essentially, looked as if it could have come from the factory that way. Now, if only I could find the "time" to test the X-MAXX since installing the Wide-X-MAXX kit, and Wide-X-MAXX parts from Arthur (Vitavon). Man, Arthur does such incredible work. 🤙🏼
They can be wired however, i spoke with the guy who makes and sells them. You can use a seperate battery, you can run them off the esc, or receiver, off your regular battery or bec. Whatever you choose, to get the most air flow the battery is the way to go. Running it off the esc or receiver is only 6v, that not moving hardly any air.
The fact that you can still hear them while driving tells you everything lol I’ve got a felony that can not for the life of it stay any type of cool on 6s stock motor and esc stock heat sink and it has 8mm bullets on the motor and esc with two xmaxx fans from their heat sink a yeah racing fan and a nhx fan I’ve got a 19t pinion rn and seems to be doing okay didn’t lit thermal before the grub came loose and rotated on the pinion jamming it but I plan on running 3 of a 3s probably a little more mah to keep up with my 7k mah 6s and one on the esc it’s self but also a question that I’ve thought about maybe the 8mm bullets are over powering it? But still did this with the stock bullets as well

So if you had the esc fans on there aswell you would need another seperate battery to hook them into? or could the motor fans and the esc fans all be hooked into that one separate lipo through a splitter setup somehow?

Sorry, don't enough one Standard Fan , for ccool Motors,, than to small is you Motor, and your need a bigger Motors, with smoller Kv, and not 70 Dollar Fan.. This Fan together with extra Batterie is cr. 70-100gr. And that is GAGA . Why You don't driving with bigger Motor more 100-150gr.? Nobody need 70 Dollars Fan and Batterie than you correkt Combo.. Max. One Standard Fan. and right.
