I ran the motor/esc specs through three different calculators. If Hobbywing didn't inflate their numbers this combo should produce a 28hp @ 300 amps @ 50v. That would be wild, but here's where it gets crazy. If peak current is actually 2000 amps, @ 50v that's roughly 180hp, depending on efficiency. Mind-blowing. 🤯
I'm so glad I just watched this video! I have a team Corelli punisher which runs hobbywing rebranded motors and ESC and I've had problems lately with my trigger on my remote and I couldn't figure out how to calibrate the ESC and now you showed me thank you so much
I’m sure you know someone with a mill, just mill out the chassis for motor clearance so it looks nice & gives you what room you need. Probably better than raising the entire drivetrain. Can’t wait to see how fast it is on 12s, will be crazy fast!
Awesome! As far as I know, the castle 800kv is rated for 12s. It would be interesting to see how the castle motor does on 12s in the real world. You would definitely get more rpms vs the 560kv.

I think they limit you to a low kv motor to save the esc, some people wanna run 12s and a higher kv for racing or speed runs @@truthisweareallgonnadie.
That thing jumps like it’s tethered to the ground…. Stiffer springs help I guess but it seems like you need more suspension travel and a higher CST shock fluid. That nose dive made me cringe. Props to the losi for not taking a dirt nap after that. Nice video
I don't think you overgeared at all brother. More punch for sure and you could easily go 34 or 36 but dont think you need to. What a beast brother, I just can't imagine how much $$ you have in this rig, gotta be over 3k at this point. I live losi but there $$ a bit more. Appreciate ya

I added the 18 tooth pinion to my dbxl. 1st the pinion was wearing, replaced motor mount with vitavon, fixed problem. Then I bought belted tires, they came unglued 3 out of 4 glued them back, fixed. Installed beast 2000 works great. Now stock esc is sending hot capacitors 5 green lights. Guess I need to spend another 500 bucks and get the xlx2 setup. The 18 tooth pinion is one expensive upgrade.

I think I'm finally to the point where I'm going to get the max 4 and motor. I'm tired of the xlx2 and leopard motor overheating, just a short 10 min run will get things so hot you can't touch them. The gears are not binding because it roles freely. I have good fans on motor and esc. The only draw back is the price of getting the hobbywing kit and 6S batteries.
Ideally, that same system SHOULD fit/work in the rampage! Should. But finding or making the direct drive setup will be the issue. Maybe holler at Medic, owner of 'RC Sparks'. He has a ton of connections. 👍😁

Great job. Seams it has a bit more room as we where talking with the vitavon chassis and motor mount then the stock chassis. Going to be a beast on 12s. Just ran my kraton8s on 12s this morning quick will be doing a video this weekend on it.
So, you can in fact fit that ESC and motor into a Kraton 8S? I was thinking of picking these max4 motor combo. But, how is the clearance for that motor? Did you have to mount it up? Thanks.
It’s awesome and I love seeing it mounted up but almost seems like a little too much motor for the dbxle. The 800kv 2028 with the max4 on 12s wold seem perfect
I love Hobbywing stuff. They all run so efficiently. What I’ve heard the difference is between Hobbywing and Castle is that Castle doesn’t have the internal safeguards like Hobbywing so theoretically if they make a 12S system it may end up pushing more power but it won’t be as dependable as a Hobbywing. I think for me I’d rather have a dependable rig than a $3000 build go up in flames
i wouldnt even put these in an rc tbh. i would replace the petrol engine in a sand buggy that can carry people direct drive 24s sensored with drag slicks on the rear would be a fun wheelsander
Looks like the pinion hangs just a little off the end of the shaft. Has lateral force caused the pinion to come loose at all? Just feeling a few more mm on the motor shaft length could help... To nit pick 🤣
That’s awesome with some decent fans on motor temps will be under 100 easy I’m guessing but that’s only on 8s so it’s not pushing it temps will go up when you run 12s get some fans on motor for when you run 12s great stuff brother keep it up
I wouldn’t turn the punch up before you go 12s. Once you go 12s that may be to much punch. You probably only have a day or two until the other 6s battery comes in. You should be able to run a taller pinion too.

You should take a torch and a shovel or something heat up the ends of the pipes and flatten them so you don’t smack them a full speed

For a rampage check out steel city rc or i think Mega RC, if i recall correctly steel city has a center diff and motor mount setup in his rampage

I believe the Max4 can only run motors up to 600kv .

Me too, have HW in all my cars and no issues with any of them. Love their programming, much easier to do and the motors are quiet.

If he gears down a bit once he goes to 12s temps should stay low. He is pulling more amps only running 8s, not allowing the motor to rev out.
