I did not know of him until at NAMM I found myself jamming with him. Honestly I couldn't really keep up so I played mostly octaves in harmony. At the end of all those beautiful block chords he finished with an old garden variety E which by contrast sounded weird. I didn't know if he was teasing me but he was nice and pleasant and quite the jazz guitarist. He didn't play a single "regular" chord til then very end. I said "who was that?" "That was Atilla Zoller". I bought an album first chance. I knew of Howard Roberts guitars so I was afraid to jam with Howard. I am a fan of this guy for sure. I wish I had handled it differently now
I met him in 1986, my final year at Berklee. We spent some time talking and he wanted to sell me this Hofner he is playing, the Attila Zoller model. Boy, I should have done so! Bummer.
I hope u have learned lots in 3 years my friend. Until now I delved into music theory but my problem seems to be with understanding tone colors in different scales. I don't know how to solo over complex chords but I do think I can make decent melodies. My advice would be to memorise your fretboard if u just started and looking at the guitar like a piano. But that's just how I want to play everyone can surely find their own style. Have fun and most importantly never stop, I made the mistake of stopping for 4 years merely because I didn't know what I wanted from the instrument, it should be love for playing above all in the first place.
What an idiotic statement... from yet one more person who insists music must be a competition! And of course since (s)he likes "Victor van Kampen", (s)he is SO friggin' cool and hip to what's happening in the world of music!!!!!
Studied with him from 93 to 94, he was my most important teacher, I still hear him when I play something good, but also when I play something bad :-)
My good friend, I am very kind that he was my friend, and he show me many things on guitar.
Great Attila Zoller, who composed such wonderful tunes! I remember him very well!
it will be 20 years next January since Attila's gone
Formidable

Great playing by a legend of guitar in his senior years. Also love the attentive, quiet audience.
Love you Attila.. spend a lot of beautiful hours with you and your guitars ...
