I have the strongest feeling that Luke's Sand Blaster is a reference to Street Fight 2010. The similarities are staggering. Otherwise I'm blown away with what I'm shown! At first he looked kinda lame but his playstyle is pretty hype and the fact that he forces you to go in really excites me for how this will translate into SF6.
Luke is MMA meats Street Fighter. In a very similar way to how Ryu and ken were Karate meets video game fantasy. His moves are a good mix between realistic and stylistic. His moves aren’t all exactly batshit crazy and epic looking like Seth’s are. But they are impressive in a kind of relatable and human way. Like seeing someone do something impressive and cool looking like in high level sports. Of course, with different levels of street fighter superhuman touch in each to make him fit into the world of street fighter.
Feels weird to finally be at the end of SFV's lifespan, but happy we are. I can't say I dislike SFV, and it certainly ended pretty well, but still ready to move on. I still regularly go back and play USFIV. I don't know if I will ever do the same for SFV (but maybe I'll also eat those words someday).
The fact they emphasis the next Street Fighter PROJECT and not Street Fighter game specifically is giving me the fear that he's the protagonist in a SF movie.
APOLOGY FORM *To:* Luke, *From:* Austin Fletcher, *Date:* 11/6/23 *Reason for behavior:* ✓ The media convinced me he was ass, I didn't watch the actual story, ✓ I only looked at the tier lists, I don't know design, I was jealous of Luke, ✓ Mercury was in retrograde ✓ I will hereby respect Luke Sullivan and I will NOT talk down on the future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
I really hope a lot of these newer characters, guest characters and older/returning characters (Zaku, Luke, Akira, Karen, Oro etc.) are in SFVI, if not base game then DLC, hopefully SFVI is just a definitive improvement of where SFV is leaving off.
It looks like he has a lot of tools but it definitely hits a different energy. He feel more active more of the time, less playing footsies and more either getting in or zoning (which was then met with the other getting in or closing the gap)

Yeah something I hope Street fighter 6 has a lot of. I love that rushing game with longer combos feel. Something I was hoping Street fighter 5 would have been
They aren't going to take a risk with anything that isn't going to make them easy money. Darkstalkers was always an IP that the fanbase loves everything about...except PLAYING the actual games themselves...
@vmfb87 releasing a comprehensive Rival Schools collection along Akira’s announcement so that fans old and new could have could enjoy the classics would have been “giving a shit”. Kind of hard to appreciate the references for 20 year old games we don’t have easy access to. Heck, I bought the games back in the day and even I didn’t understand why her maid outfit was “nostalgia” since the U.S. never got the story modes; I never would have guessed until someone who played the Japanese version revealed this. This was the perfect moment for people surprised by Akira’s announcement to bring these games out for maximum sales potential and now it seems like that moment has passed; if they brought it out now, sales probably wouldn’t be as strong as that could have been and we know how that turned out for Darkstalkers. Speaking of Darkstalkers, while Ono was leading the charge for a new Darkstalkers and therefore has to take the brunt of the blame, it wasn’t his fault that Capcom announced less than a month after release that Darkstalkers Resurrection was a sales failure (the same month it charted in top 10 sales), therefore ensuring that no one in the FGC outside of the hardcore fans will purchase it since there won’t be any tournament presence for it. Thanks to numerous retrospective videos, it seems like Darkstalkers Resurrection failing was almost intentional. That said, given the state of Capcom’s fighting output last decade and their graphics engines, it’s likely a blessing in disguise we didn’t get a new Darkstalkers then. Still, the least they could do now is bring a comprehensive collection like the Japan-only Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection to modern platforms with proper netcode, that way ensuring everyone has access to everything the series had to offer.
I read somewhere that Luke's Trigger special to special cancel and his throw offensive may be hints for the next game, like an universal mechanic that beats throws to add more to the RPS of Street Fighter and a special to special universal mechanic, either way is a good creativity exercise. I'm actually excited to see what's coming for SF 6.
While I never bought Street Fighter 5(I kept hoping for Gouken to return), I appreciate these updates being more open about the development process of the game. Here's hoping Street Fighter 6 or whatever the next project is titled gives me a reason to dust off my fight stick.
It's like they started in thinking they could make an SNK character like Rock Howard or even Chris, but then someone said, "What if he ate Popeye's spinach? Like, *five* whole cans at once!?"
couldn't help but notice, he fought a marquee character in the demonstration part of his gameplay, namely he went from Ryu (SF1, 2, alpha and 4) to Alex (3) to RASHHHIDDDDOOOOOO (V). finally ending fighting himself (the future of street fighter)
I’ve been saying it since he was first shown off, I strongly believe that Luke is Gunloc (who is rumored to be Guile’s brother) son. He has too many similarities to him and the fact that he has some sort of relationship with Guile really makes me pretty sure that’s the case. His dad even looks like Gunloc.
It's a good change of pace for SFV, usually matches at medium ranks are about how defensive you are, you can't jump or press buttons or anything fun really, you just gotta punish everything if you really want to win, also when characters pop up V-triggers, their frame data change and you have to be even more defensive if you don't wanna give them a free comeback, that shit gets annoying.
I honestly really like Luke I find him cool and fun and he is really sympathetic I get why people aren’t 100% accepting him but I do think that he gets to much hate.
Omega Mode totally carried over to SFV. Omega Akuma is nearly identical to SFV Akuma. Obviously the goofy gimmicks like Ken's foot fungus fireballs didn't make it in, but a lot of Omega Mode moves went into SFV
@@nickkiller-0710 I know, which is why I'm saying Omega is still in SFV for sure. And if this guy is what we have to look forward to, super glad other games are hopefully gonna put SF in the ground. Let's hope 6 is a real videogame, not an 'e-sports product'. Not holding my breath though.
Street Fighter 6 being revealed next year would be incredible but I’m really hoping for a brand new art style, and that they DON’T use Unreal Engine for it. Unreal Engine has extremely bad input lag on consoles, which is obviously not good for fighting games. We’ve seen it with SF5, Tekken 7, GG Strive, and obviously any other fighting game that uses Unreal Engine 4. All of these games had awful input lag.
@@chickenblood94 Chalk it up to Epic Games being lazy OR *puts tin foil hat on* they want you to pay them into an an exclusivity deal for that premium upgrade.
@@chickenblood94 the most likely reason is because of that graphical fidelity. All of these games suffers from more lag because they have more stuff put into their visuals. And unlike CRTs, LCD TVs have more input lag. You can see this trajectory with every new 3D fighting game series. It has nothing to do with "premium upgrades".
Im looking foward to play as Luke he seems pretty dope. And being he might be the new protaginist for Street Fighter 6 which at first got me concern but now im interested. Tho i dont think we'll be getting SF6 next year which will be probably too soon since this game is now done, my guess is we'll get infomation about it next year and it will be reveal by 2023 surely. But even so im still enjoying the hell of SFV and im in no hurry.
It looks to me the whiff punishes/forward advancing, the throw counters are a direct attack on SFV nooch I really think that is gunna be in the next game. Im excited and looks like something that will make the game so much more intense and fun to play
It’s kinda wild to think that SF5 is nearing its end already. I mean I know it’s been out for almost 6 years, but time just flew by so fast it feels like it’s been only like 3 years. SF5 definitely had some struggles for a majority of its lifespan, but it’s good to see that it can end on a good note that might influence the next Street Fighter.
I got street fightsr 5 in 2018 with the arcade edition version and i thought it was pretty good at first but over time started to lose intrest in it within a few months and realized i didnt like it as much as SF4
I’m just speculating here… but I’ve noticed in Luke’s Presentation is that the 1st stages took place in the only 2 stages of Metro City which was also the setting of Capcom Fighting Allstars… What’s also interesting is that Captain Commando takes place in that same City in the future
The gameplay carried Luke. It feels very aggressive and I really like that. He has all the tools he needs to be a beast, but every player must put in the work to make the most of him. I still don’t like his original design. Maybe if they took away the black dry fit shorts, I wouldn’t mind as much. The motifs he has seem to clash with each other and makes it hard to focus on his overall design. I can’t help but notice how crazy this guy’s design is. He costumes however, show great promise and fit with SF aesthetic. SF has a design philosophy, so it feels weird to see Luke’s overall design contradict what SF is. He’s not the first character to have a weird design, but I hope SF returns to it’s older designing methods. He’s still a cool character and looks really fun to play.

"Nothing carried over from Omega mode to SFV"
SFV Ryu is like, almost exactly Omega Ryu. Target combos, the parry, its all there.
Same for Juri. Her entire system of combos was her Omega stuff.
Yeah he must not have spent a lot of time with it because Omega mode absolutely prototyped a lot of changes to move properties as well as removing 1 frame links for 2-3 frame links much like SFV has.
Guile's VT1 is literally the multi booms he got in Omega too

At this point, I just can't wait to see what SFVI looks like. I've never been a fan of the SFV aesthetic personally, so I want VI to look vastly different.
I wish they'd go back to 2.5 D and just load up the roster.

This Luke character has a awful design imo, the popeye arms are just awful, but his animation are clean. With how creative the rest of Season 5 has been, I wouldn’t be surprised if Luke was actually a leftover from when Ono was still around.
Still haven't purchased season 5 character pass. I'm SO disappointed with their picks. Game went way down in quality after season 3. I'm honestly surprised they have not given SF5 a next gen upgrade yet.
They kinda forced the capcom colors on his default design, but his animations are crazy good.
Funny how Max loves his second outfit, when Sajam and all of his chat thought it was super whack lol
I agree with Max. His main costume is very basic and his design does not help it at all.

So that's why he's so boring

I really hope a lot of these newer characters, guest characters and older/returning characters (Zaku, Luke, Akira, Karen, Oro etc.) are in SFVI, if not base game then DLC, hopefully SFVI is just a definitive improvement of where SFV is leaving off.
I think it would be interesting if there were more property changes on specials based on how long a button is held

I'm gonna say something.
He reminds me of Gai Tendo from Buriki One, even his movements.
It looks like he has a lot of tools but it definitely hits a different energy. He feel more active more of the time, less playing footsies and more either getting in or zoning (which was then met with the other getting in or closing the gap)
This guy looks like a MMA fighter with this punches moving forward, getting to get through a boxing guard, it's kinda cool how you don't have one quiet second against him
He has the same style as the UFC's Justin Gaethje actually the kappa kick, the wild uppercuts. The way he strikes it's all Justin.

@@ebola9717 cries in Darkstalkers ANDDDD Rival Schools 😭😭😭
They aren't going to take a risk with anything that isn't going to make them easy money. Darkstalkers was always an IP that the fanbase loves everything about...except PLAYING the actual games themselves...
@@aRBy125 This. People tend to bitch a lot but they barely support it then made bunch of excuses.
It's so nice Ryu was finally added to the game.
Luke's gameplay actually looks really promising. His move set looks amazing, and he looks like a great well rounded fighter!
While I never bought Street Fighter 5(I kept hoping for Gouken to return), I appreciate these updates being more open about the development process of the game. Here's hoping Street Fighter 6 or whatever the next project is titled gives me a reason to dust off my fight stick.

@@conradojavier7547 really legit?
It's a good change of pace for SFV, usually matches at medium ranks are about how defensive you are, you can't jump or press buttons or anything fun really, you just gotta punish everything if you really want to win, also when characters pop up V-triggers, their frame data change and you have to be even more defensive if you don't wanna give them a free comeback, that shit gets annoying.
Spot on I feel like almost every match is the same
The fact Max is heavily featured at the end of the video and he had no idea about it is hilarious.

Omega Mode totally carried over to SFV. Omega Akuma is nearly identical to SFV Akuma. Obviously the goofy gimmicks like Ken's foot fungus fireballs didn't make it in, but a lot of Omega Mode moves went into SFV

Yeah, why is that?
You had me at new art style
@@chickenblood94 Chalk it up to Epic Games being lazy OR *puts tin foil hat on* they want you to pay them into an an exclusivity deal for that premium upgrade.
@@chickenblood94 the most likely reason is because of that graphical fidelity. All of these games suffers from more lag because they have more stuff put into their visuals. And unlike CRTs, LCD TVs have more input lag. You can see this trajectory with every new 3D fighting game series. It has nothing to do with "premium upgrades".
Next year. lol. No
Capcom really need to listen the fan feedback on which skins should be the main desigh for the next game. We need the hobo Ryu to be official.
