- I remember... taking my parents to the 1964 world's fair when I was nine. In those days we had a future. The GM exhibit called "World of Tomorrow" made a big impression on consumers of all ages. GM was an innovative company, hard to believe today. The song is by Todd Rundgren. It is pure and evocative etc. Enjoy.

Awesome. I'm from London and I love how his music was way ahead of time! Im only 28 and feel kinda lucky that I stumbled across him whilst weeding through prog rock alternative hip hop frank zappa and then boom... Todd Rundgren! What a legend!

I love todd rundgren he is my favorite male singer and song writer. I miss him when he's not in concert. You have to see his new concert tour it is a light show extravaganza. I love you todd

I'm only 48, but I remember the world of tomorrow too. Now we're going backward. Women eschew science, supersonic airplanes are only for the military, every Mac peripheral costs $30 or more, and our new interstate bridge is going to be an ugly affair devoid of architectural interest. The things that have gotten better are world cuisine, beer, and open source everything. Your video is exactly what I envisioned for this song. Well done! BTW, my mom had gold lamé pants and wore them well.
What a masterful video compilation for this song +cordt1. Your work is magnificent and this particular one never fails to cause me to choke up a bit as these were the ideals we shared as kids in the day. Todd is still the ever changing future and is an eternal optimist.

i too remember the world of tomorrow - my trip on this planet started 364 days before todd's - back in the twentieth century the comedy act 'firesign theatre' said - THIS is the future - you got to LIVE it, or LIVE WITH IT - and now i realize there is a third inevitability - at a time to be determined, get out of the way - may peace be with us all
Also, note the X-15 belly launch from a B-52 on the first part of the video. Amazing! Neil Armstrong was one of the pilots around 1964. Just some trivia for all you "Astronuts" out there.

Because he didn't play the industry game. He did things his way so they didn't make as much money off him. It's all about how rich the rich people make off musicians.

the way i see it todd's credibility is not diminished by the r&r hall of fame omission - it is the r&r hall of fame that loses some of its shine
If it makes you feel better he didn't wAnt it. When asked he said "if nominated I will not run, and if elected I will not serve!" Diehard Todd fans know that he has not nor ever will kiss the ring of the industry and he has written many songs on that very subject, including on the Liars album! I'm so happy he got nominated though.
He has stated that he doesn't care about it ..though I think that the fans would like to see him acknowledged

That's what's so ironic: major expositions, such as World's Fairs and Expos, used to provide showcases for innovative technology, research, and product development - whetting the appetites of consumers and giving them things to look forward to acquiring; whereas, nowadays, they just take for granted - as 'necessities' - those products that, until relatively recently, would have been regarded as extravagant!
It's not the corporations: it's the consumers.
Simply put: they're spoiled!

This song gets me back when inovation was commonplace, in early-to-mid 20th century. Much of today's work is a revamp or direct remake of this time.

Very interesting. Instead of a vision of a future; we have 'the future' every year at the CES in Vegas. Now if you want a slice of the future it'll cost you a week's paycheck and be obsolete in 12-18 months.
