    Always knew Todd was amazing. Steinman was such a great story teller. It's no wonder he wrote so many great songs.

    Todd is a genius, for sure. It's wonderful to see such an accomplished musician as Steinman be so forthright. SO many do not understand Todd, and likely never will. Steinman is an exception, thankfully. Todd will never be appreciated for his genius in my lifetime. It is what it is.

    Holy CRAP!...what a twisted interview! Love Todd though and sadly, with all the other shit going on on the world the last couple of years, I didn't realize Jim Steinman had died, so this is the first thing I went to, just finding out now, 11Pm, West Coast time USA, January 7th, 2022

      My experience meeting him when he found out I had the same first name as he and my friend did too clasped all of our hands together and made an eerie science fiction whine saying "It's the terrible Todd triune!" It was a good time.

    • @suzannefarrington4143
      @suzannefarrington4143 Před 2 lety +1

      @@aliensporebomb I really like Steinman's lowkey way of talking about him. Lots of respect, some distressing stuff. And you believe him about all of it. I remember Todd at a show in Hartford in the 80's, really whaling on his guitar tech for messing up. It killed the happy vibe of the show, and afterwards I never had the same urge to buy tickets as I had before. He's a supremely gifted person who has acknowledged that at times he's been a jerk. That whole post-Lennon stuff must have been awful, and I think he began to reassess the nature of his engagement with the world.

    • @BenedictRoffMarsh
      @BenedictRoffMarsh Před 2 lety +4

      The thing is that exceptional will mean that the person is not average or easy. Exceptional means outside of. Sure it should not mean being a jerk, but at the same time, exceptional will mean that the person wanting to be average will find the "outside" approach confronting. Note how Steinmann says he spent time trying to soak up how it worked. He engaged with Todd. Meat would have been upset at that exchange, but at the same time, he could have asked "Why would that be wrong?" either at that time or at the bar after. Not engaging meant that Todd sidelined him whilst he focused on getting the job done. The job that in the end totally made Meatloaf a career for life. :-)

      @suzannefarrington4143 Před 2 lety +2
