That's my laptop I bought it Tuesday evening , Im so happy. Im using it for my college classes. Awesome.
¿Las bisagras de la pantalla son de plástico?, ¿podría volverse débil?
Is the color accuracy bad?
Hi! Can you tell me if the brightness is good?
For how much?
I just bought this laptop yesterday and I’m waiting for it to arrive. You wrote the review 2 months ago but do you still like the laptop?
What I really like about your reviews is how you open up the laptop's to show us the insides and what can/cannot be upgraded. Good stuff!
The most professional yet simple to understand review for any laptop that I've come across on CZcams. I wonder what would your pick be when compared to the AMD variant of Acer Swift 3 in terms of performance ?
Guess you can trust a man with 3 first names
**Looks like Amazon is showing it in stock once again at the $599 price. Here is the link: **amzn.to/2YO4uzu**
I was looking for a laptop since we’ll be starting school online for the beginning of the year and this video helped a lot! The way you presented and reviewed it was amazing and seeing your channel I could’ve sworn you had 5 million subscribers by the quality alone. Great video!
Got this yesterday! Loving it so far 🥰🥰
Andrew the reviews was awesome but it would be great just to know the performance of the pens in these kind of devices in your videos, would really help! Thanks for the amazing review though !!
Thanku so much for ur review... truly great. I just ordered mines n should be here Tuesday. I really hope it's good enough for school work I just returned a hp laptop after about 2 or 3 wks. So this is my 2nd try.
Just what I was waiting for, a laptop that can be used fr reading, light gaming, work, travel, and a pen too😍
Definitely thinking about buying it on Amazon for my classes in the Fall. Love the keyboard, the ports and the price. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I was waiting for this review and thanks again for another great review. Just want to point out one thing about 4K Video editing. In Adobe premiere Pro 14.2 Beta, they have enabled Graphics acceleration for both AMD and Nvidia GPU. Now due to 6 Core in this Processor, high efficiency in Thermals and Powers (Thanks to 7 nm) which enables it to keep higher clock speed for longer duration and VEGA 6 Graphics which now works in Premiere, the 4K Video editing performance is actually good and you can do some basic editing with ease. It can actually beat some H series Quad Core 45W TDP CPU like i5-8300H or i5-9300H while using QuickSync or 2 pass editing. I've the ideapad 5 with Ryzen 7 4700U + 16GB DDR4 and it actually beats by i7-9750H in some of the editing tasks.
Thanks for the update! Really helpful 👍
Would you recommend this laptop for basic usage? Like taking notes, light video editing, media consumption and office stuffs
Thank you!
All of this potential wasted with most laptops having Intel processors....
Does lumetri filter work too?
Another great tutorial from Mr AMD. Can you please tell how easy this will run some usual university statistics softwares?
And do you personally prefer the flex or the envy x360? (from same specs like R5)
Thank you.
Thank you for the review and presentation. I just ordered one with the 4700u and 16gb of ram. I am stoked!
Nice!!!
Come on man! I’d pay another $50-100 for a brighter screen. They need a sweet spot where they get this amazing budget but a decently bright screen.
YEs i think screen is achilles hill here, i dont think it got antireflective coating
Im sure 250nits is enough for most indoor conditions, brighter displays can drain battery quickly alsol. For the price being offered its a great device
Looked at one in Staples, the screen brightness is useable at 100% inside, anything lower is really dim. Yeh 300 nits would be nice.
Disagree. Consider the health of your eyes. I switched to the 'dark mode' on my phone and I wouldn't go back.
@@StarNumbers Guess what? The contrast in dark mode generally screws with your eyes more. Only exception to this is if you have greyish text on a black background.
I love the video! Very polished
Just ordered the laptop and I am looking forward to use it. Was more expensive here in Europe but still a good deal. Thanks for the great review! Very in depth and perfectly structured
Did you receive it? Is it as advertised?
Andddd?
I hope they release this laptop in more markets and improve the screen with one of higher nits numbers
Thank you. Very helpful.
I’m about to get this laptop and I really want to see a honesty review and I like your review and thanks 😊 ❤️
don't!!
go to lenovos forum and see the complaints regarding the touch screen🙃 i own flex 5 15. i regret buying it. the touchscreen doesn't work anymore which was the very feature i bought it for.
@@tseringkhando5992 does the touchscreen has problem regarding anti-glare, as i can see screen is reflective and not matte
Same
Just getting the upgraded version of the this into Australia with ryzen 5 +5500 gpu, otherwise identical, so review still relevant. 👌
Really good value. Excellent review as usual. Thanks Andrew
Thanks!!
You can place your pen beside the touchpad (right side), there is a magnetic thing there that the pen sticks onto.
This is my first time reaching your channel, Editing 10/10, Your way of introducing 10/10, Everything is premium, when i played your video I thought you will have +1 Million Subs but only 100K which is unfair for what you share, you deserve more. Subscribed🖤✨
really enjoyed this review, thank u
Thanks really appreciate it 👊
Thanks for your wonderful review as usual 😊. If possible, please make a comparison video among Lenovo flex 5, HP pavilion x360 and Dell Inspiron 7000. They may have different processors and their specs are customizable. So, the comparison can be mostly on their physical build, ports, battery, touchpad, keyboard, webcams, etc. I am a photographer and looking for a decent 2 in 1 laptop under $1000 with SD Card slot. The premium metal body laptops are getting rid of SD card slots. Your comparison video will be really helpful for many of us. Thanks in advance.
Your review was excellent and helpful and I agree 100%.
Hey, Andrew. Thanks for the awesome review. This sounds like an awesome affordable convertible. I wonder how it would fare in a smack down against the more premium Galaxy Book Flex - touch, pen, decent processor, graphics, convertible, full SD card reader, good I/O... I agree with you that that's an awesome price/performance ratio on this system.
Good idea Paul!
excellent, two heatpipes, Like for disassembly part of video.
Hi Andrew, thank you very much for your review. Awesome as always
Thanks Jose!
@@andrewmarcdavid wow it seems to be out of stock!
I'm feelin' this!!
Awesome review Andrew!!!
Great review. Is this better than the Yoga C740 considering both having the same specs? I know this one has an HDMI port and the C740 doesn't, but other than that, which would be the better option if they have similar prices?
Hi, Andrew. I really like your review. Very detailed! And I'd like some suggestion from you. For home/school use, which one would you recommend? Yoga 6 or Flex 5 14? Thank you!
Nice review but I was wondering does the pen only come with the one on Amazon or does the one from Lenovo also have it?
great review, specially the webcam one
Unless in battery saver mode the fan on this thing fires up intermittently and loudly, almost whistling. On charge the thing whines constantly. If you Google this it seems I am not alone with this Lenovo driven problem. Loved the fit and finish and speed of the Ryzen 5 but if I wanted to live next door to a major airport I might not be bothered by the sound of this thing being drowned out! It got returned and I suggest you try one out in a store before you buy. Hope this helps y'all.
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14 with Ryzen, but it doesn't have THESE specs. It would be helpful to identify model and year. Thanks much Mr. David for an otherwise informative review.
Just received one of these, no problems so far
thank you for the review Andrew
how does it compare against C940 15 inch (not 14) for gaming?
Congrats 🥳 100k subs
Thank you so much 😀
This laptop is my first AMD processor purchase. I've had intel since forever, Ryzen is coming up for real though. Very happy with this laptop.
what about antireflective coating on screen, missing that feature
I've just come here after watching your HP Envy x360 15" review. I'd be interested to know what you think of the Lenovo Flex 14" vs HP Envy x360 15" both with the Ryzen 7 spec. Both have a similar if not the same spec across the board, one main difference is the Lenovo has 8GB Ram and the HP has 16GB. It's £200 difference and I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade of an additional 8GB ram and a few other brand specific features? (I'm sure there are others but I'm not a tech expert haha)
Great review. Please review compare to Envy x360 Ryzen 4700 with 1000nits panel!
Excellent machine ! Lenovo has a good reputation in the market for making very good laptops and desktops. Indeed that pen holder blocking the usb's really sucks but I believe that it will not be a big issue when you use it in tablet mode because when in tablet mode usually you have nothing connected to the laptop. But, in any event, the magnetic lock of the pen in Windows Surface was a better solution.
I liked the camera... Better than the one you tested in the HP machine !
Keep up the good work man and God bless !
I have the last year's model (Yoga C340/Flex 14) with Ryzen 5 3500U , it is my secondary device and I am very happy with it.
Looks to me that the newer model has a thicker top bezel which I find quite odd.
I'd also say that bottom firing speakers are better on 2 in 1 devices when used folded (bottom up) for consuming media.
-There are several displays, the one with thinner bezel has better color accuracy- The Ideapad 5 does have those
@@finbruan What is the model name with thinner bezel and better color accuracy?
@@manoj238 Gonna edit the comment, I mixed the normal Ideapad 5 and the Flex 5.
Good review, thanks! Are there any program in this laptop to draw and design as procreate in apple?thanks! Good staff!
Looks so promising, but the markup in Europe is insane. I live in Germany and we only get the ryzen 7 model and it cost a whopping 900€ here which is over 1050 dollars (and the specs are average at 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd). At that pricepoint, it competes with the Hp envy x360 convertibles, which have an aluminum exterior.
Got mine comin! 4700U - Awesome buy!!!! Hottest laptop / value right now June/July 2020
Fantastic review. Subscribed.
Thanks really appreciate it 👊
love your vids man!
I appreciate it!
Nice review, any idea when this might trickle down to Indian markets. Can't find any info, and international shipping costs are more than that of laptop lol
Wow this is interesting. I may pick this one for my next Laptop.
I was wondering what type of batteries that the stylus pen uses ... since I am thinking of buying so far it sounds good but I want to know what type of batteries it uses
Hello, do you know how I can get this laptop or the Ryzen 7 version in Europe? I can't find it anywhere, only in Amazon US and Lenovo US
Would the dim brightness still do well for bloggers and basic photo editing? I’m looking for a pleasing display to work on my blog.
AMD reviews an AMD LAPTOP..
😁👍
Thanks for the excellent review as always 😄 I bought a different version of this laptop in my country (Singapore) that comes with an Intel i7-1065G7 processor and MX330 GPU. It's not as cheap as this one but I hope the performance is good!
Very accurate review. I have one and love it, but your review is spot on. If you plan to use this much outside, this may not be the laptop for you.
Do you have a review on the new asus vivobook flip 14 tm42ia? No one reviews about it and I'm really confuse between these two. I like flex 5 but the build quality is what I'm worried. Thank you for this😊 finished the video.
Some European viewers may remember the Citroen 2CV or the VW Bug for later - the car for the people. That is what this laptop, it is an excellent 2-in-1 and I an getting my wife this model. Great review as always Mister AMD testing an AMD computer, oh the irony, just brilliant.
Thanks!
Yeah, except it would be like a 2cv with a 350hp Ford Ecoboost 4cyl instead of a 2-stroke engine. What a little beast of a CPU.
Also, no one mentioned the ctrl/fn key position being more convenient!
Thank you Andrew! great review. Wondering if I should get this one or the Lenovo c740 if Im not going to do gaming, only light video editing which one do you recommends? in my country we have the IdeaPad only with Intel cpu...
For any sort of video editing I would not suggest intel IGPU, Ryzen Vega is better both in terms of CPU performance and decent 1080p play back during video editing. However what will bother you on this machine is the color accuracy, if that is important to you. If using external monitor then it is not a major issue.
Would you recommend this over the ThinkPad E14? I've been sort of torn between the two and I know this has better specs but I want to be assured something will last
Hi! Could you tell me what is the biggest resolution for additional monitor and how many monitors can be connected at the same time.
Hi Andrew loving your Channel! I am looking to buy a new PC, I would like a two in one but I also would like to be able to do some light gaming, like Sims 4, but with mods. I know its trivial but I would also like to have a backlit key board, preferably RGB, I do have a couple of laptops in mind, but my old galaxy tab, that I watch and work on in bed is starting to have problems too, so started looking at 2n1's what do you suggest?
This IdeaPad Flex 5 is a good choice.
Hey! I love your reviews but I have a hard time finding a laptop that works for me:
Convertible , 3:2 (or 16:10 but I prefer 3:2) tactile screen, Ryzen 4000 series, 16 GB RAM, fair price...what would you advise?
I can live with an average screen quality, a plastic construction, average keyboard
How good is the touch pen? Does it come with spare tips?
Best review up till now i have ever seen
nice review! I'll be looking for something JUST like this, for business / lightweight / wireless surveys. :) need a lightweight i5 that gets 6 hours of battery!
Andrew have you continued to use this machine, or did you demo and return?
Please do a review on Lenovo ideapad Flex 2 15 inch 2019 version. I'm not finding any reviews about it in CZcams
Really liked video on Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 4500U. Can you help with
below two concerns 1. WiFi 6 upgradabiliity (Intel Wifi 6 AX200 Hardware
change) 2. Ability to connect it to external monitor with USB C port.

Very helpful review!!!
just had this laptop and I m not very happy with the display.
Even I increased the brightness, the display color base is yellowish. Is it normal? Or did I receive the bad piece?
However, I m quite happy with the speed.
Please help reply when you have a chance. Thank you😊
This machine seems to be a great PC for its price range. I agree with the review of this machine. One thing you did not mention that I observed in your handling of this PC is that it does not appear to be a fingerprint magnet. Another hidden plus for this. Great review as always.
Correct, it doesn't show too many fingerprints. Thanks!
I'm typing this on a Flex 14 now. It's _ok_ when it comes to fingerprints. But I will wipe it down with a cloth with diluted pinalen solution. The solid plastic is much better than the kind of plastic that flexes when you type hard on it.
@@danieljeyn9847 hello when you first have it, does it gets hot? Especially on the side where there's no fan
@@somethingintherain796 I only kept that a couple of weeks. The AMD chips of that era did get hot, yes.
@@danieljeyn9847 I have the Lenovo IdeaPad flex 5 ryzen 7 5700u. Whenever I opened it, i think 10 minutes later it will get hot. I only ran OneNote, Spotify, chrome. Is it normal? Then when I bend it up to 170 degrees it will cool down. Really it's hot then it will cool down 😭 It's my 4th day having it btw. Should I call the lenovo warranty?
I planning to buy this one but i m more concern on programing aspects.. Is this good for development? Kindly let me know
I’m waiting for higher end laptops with Ryzens
Would you prefer this over the ASUS zenbook that’s currently selling for 700 at Best Buy?
Great video review. Is this good for video and especially photo editing?
Good
Finally AMD laptops review!
How good is palm rejection? Is it iPad good or just okay? I'm asking because I want to take notes.
Hi Andrew what music tune is that at the start of the video? It sounds really good!
It's called "You're The Only Reason" by Basixx. You can get it at Epidemic Sound
@@andrewmarcdavid Thank you! Great reviews keep it up!
Wow, you have three first names in your name! Cool!
Hi Andrew! Nice review, tried to buy it through your link but no stock on Amazon.. any idea when it will become available on Amazon again?
not sure, keep checking to see if it changes.
Think I want this one! 😎
I got this for DJing in I don't think I can use it bc I can't get right drivers or install reckordbox software. Idk I'm pissed lol
Great reviews
just bought this! bummed that it doesnt have windows hello though face camera thing though. but overall really great
It has a fingerprint reader that's instant.
At 3:25 the comment on the usb-c being display out capable seems wrong, at least if you expect it to support displayport alternate mode - it seems that it does not.
Hi Andrew, I am looking to buy this one. I was wondering if you can confirm that the USB-C supports DP out. Some media reports that the USB-C port does not support DP out. Thanks.
Please answer marc i am following since 1 year that which laptop has better display this or new hp envy x360 5 4500 and has better camera
What pen I have to get?? I just bought the laptop a few days ago because I didn’t knew what pen was the one that works for it
Great video! I have a question, what laptop would you recommend? HP Envy x360 15" with the Ryzon 5 4500u and 256GB or the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14" also with the Ryzon 5 4500u but 512GB. Both have 8GB of RAM but the HP cost 100€ more. What would you recommend?
This specific model has 16GB RAM. If you don't plan on upgrading the RAM (8GB) and do not want 2 in 1 I would suggest the Ideapad which was on sale yesterday for $58+student discount only advantage being ideapad (non convertible) has brighter screen. Almost all the other 4500u models have weaker display.
On the other hand, if you want to go beyond 16GB (honestly I do not see a need for it on this machine), I would choose HP for it is upgradeability. Personally this 16GB model for $600 is sweet spot. Overall I would suggest this model if usage is manly indoors.
I just bought it today
This is so amazing
Do you find the colors on the screen are washed out? I have read reviewers saying they are washed out but I'm not sure
How much did you buy it
Remy B not at all
Clay Munch i got it about 68k
@@rbasi25 same question
I have ordered flex 5 ryzen 5 already 👍🏼
This makes me want a laptop even though I don't need one at all
Is the display laminated with the glass?
It will be really interesting to use the pen on a laminated display and this laptop has some really good specs at an affordable price.
Yes fully laminated
@@andrewmarcdavid Thank you for the information. That is wonderful!
Can you do a review on the lenovo slim 7 with the r7 4800u as well as the latest version of the envy x360 13?
Up!
I'm waiting for the slim 7 in the UK. Been waiting months! It's getting a bit difficult to delay my purchase of a laptop now. I will be avoiding HP after my last 2 envy laptops had to have motherboard replacements twice in the short time I owned them. The 4800u is the only CPU I'd buy in a 2020 ultrathin
up!
What is the Lenovo slim 7?
Up !
Hi Andrew, Appreciate your response.
Even I increased the brightness, the screen color base is yellowish. Is it normal? Or did I receive the bad piece? Thank you.
I think laptop makers have intentionally added that to most laptops to stop eye strain.
I just bought the same on Amazon last week. Despite soldered RAM it seems to be dual channels. I am very happy about that.
Does anyone know if this is dual channel? You said seems to be.
@@MtnYaker I saw this review on Amazon
Amazing product, a lot of misinformation from Lenovo Rep on Amazon
Before I tell you about how good the product is, I have to give feedback on the Lenovo Rep(s). Before the product was available, I asked if the laptop had dual channel and or single channel memory. This is easily the most important specification in terms of performance for AMD laptops because the integrated graphics are very powerful, but you essentially lose half of the igpu performance with single channel memory. The rep told me (and subsequently another person) that the laptop has single channel memory. This is incorrect. I looked up the model number of the laptop on Geekbench and it clearly stated that it is dual channel. I received my laptop and checked with CPUZ, it also says dual channel.
Now some people may say "well what are you complaining for? You're mad because your laptop is better than they said it was?" No, I'm upset because the rep's job is to give correct information to consumers so that they can make good purchasing decisions. Incorrect information causes lost sales and it makes both AMD and Lenovo look incompetent. If you look through all of the questions on the Amazon product page, you will see a few other instances of incorrect information.
Just to be clear, this is a very good product in my opinion. It comes with a usb-c charger, a stylus, a mechanical shutter for the webcam, a ten keyless led keyboard. The screen is decent, obviously not something you would use for professional graphic design but it is still very good for the average user. The build quality is great, very solid. The 2 in 1 functionality is very cool in combination with the stylus.
The performance is in a completely different league from anything else in this price range. AMD's new Ryzen 4000 cpu's are insane. Benchmarked next to my 2500U, this 4500U is about 90% faster in terms of cpu performance. The igpu is up to 50% faster than the Vega 8 graphics in my 2500U. This laptop is ideal for a mixture of office work, consuming media, and light gaming. If you want something to play LoL, Dota, Rocket League, CSGO, etc or random indie games on Steam, then this laptop can do that.
For $600 there is nothing you can get from Intel that can match this performance without having a discrete Nvidia gpu. The only thing I dislike is that the SSD is 256GB, but I have a 512GB mini usb that I can use for media so it's fine.
My first impressions: highly recommend... but get your stuff together, Lenovo Rep, whoever you are.
@@MtnYaker I've received the machine and I can confirm it is indeed in dual channel mode.
