- hope yall are alright with a bit more lowkey video for today 😭
chapters:
basic key changes [0:00]
high note transitions [1:59]
multiple modulations [3:15]
stamp on it - got the beat [4:42]
savage - aespa [6:51]
pop? pop! - csr [8:13]
and before i see any comments about it: i got a boy by girls generation is more about song structure than key changes SO if you wanted to see a video about that let me know
i'd love a video on experimenting with song structures ^^
Yesssss omg that would be so fun
Omg please make a song about experimental song structures! I find it so interesting as someone with no music knowledge, bim bam bum by rocket punch is one of my favs
Hate by 4minute too
I want to know about wjsn ‘pantomime’
I heavily agree on stamp on it being super sonically confusing but in the best way possible 😭 THAT SONG IS A DAMN ROLLERCOASTER
Finally someone talks about pop pop 😭 its one of my fav kpop songs and the way they use key changes in the "pop pop" bits is so interesting and cool
did you know that pop pop was produced by the same guy as wjsn’s pantomime
kpop analysis videos like this are literally my favourite, it’s like quantizing artistry in a super cool and fun way I LOVEEEE
I dont really enjoy transitons/key changes that much but I love SM transitons they really know how to do it SM is really on another level
Ah Choo also has a song structure like Pop Pop, F major (verse) -> Eb major (chorus) -> verse -> chorus -> A minor (bridge) -> E major (last chorus)
Also you should do GFriend's Time For The Moon Night/Crossroads/VIVIZ's Red Sun on the next episode, very interesting songs if we're talking about modulation
thank you so much for acknowledging pop pop by csr! i really love it, and i think the melody depicts perfectly the feelings mentioned in the lyrics. it's one of my all time favorite songs
I think Kara and Infinite songs also have a ton of key changes!
STEP! and its last chorus!
many of their songs are produced by the same group of people!
Key changes are one of the interesting things in kpop. It makes the song much better in my opinion.
wow i didn't realize that pop? pop! has so much key changes
i knew pop pop was gonna end up here cus that song is such a masterpiece
part 2 pls i love key changes in kpop 😭😭 i’ve rewatched other vids 50 times already
I LOVEEEEEE key changes so much!! Orange Caramel have a lot of nice ones, especially Aing and Magic Girl
Stan CSR!!!
Christian horse girl music always use key changes if you think about it
that's why it's a superior genre for me 💞
songs with these structure are so interesting to listen to
i thought this was diced ice for a sec 😭
a song with really interesting key changes is Remember by Apink! The key changes in the middle of the chorus in every chorus
i love key changes soooo much
if this is lower efort video than idk what to think about my tries on yt in the past... anyways WONDERFUL VIDEO AND I LOVE ALL THE ASPECTS U MENTIONED LIKEE THEYRE SO GENIUSSS
omg i left a comment about stamp on it and savage on another video about key changes, and we picked up on nearly the same things! i thought savage's pre chorus is in f#m tho when i play the piece, but both of the songs are confusing with the chromaticism, frequent shifts of tonal centre and approach to tonality as more of an anchor to move around haha
it’s not the lost interesting modulation, but mamamoo’s illella changes keys halfway through the final chorus, rather than at the end of a section! not something you hear super often and i really enjoy its use here!
i'm so bad with chords omfg 💀 this video and beyonce's love on top are the only times i've been able to hear a key change. i need to train my ear. i am 100% a rhythm girlie
why so underrated
i really appreciate your.videos! they're really interesting and i always get a little joy when i've seen you have uploaded:)
the way you added pop pop 😍
Mr. Mr. is actually in the key of G Major that jumps to Ab Major until we finally reach A Major. You were technically a fifth below the intended key, but it’s easy to hear how it could be the aforementioned. Regardless, this was still a great video and you definitely do amazing work and study.
finally someone noticing about this, bcs i remember Mr. Mr. isnt C major
I love your videos and get so excited when I see you've uploaded! Your channel deserves way more subscribers
love this video!!! very very interesting, we need more about key changes 👀👀
Wow this video was amazing, great job!!! Super interesting!!
Funny that you do a video on modulations: recently I’ve been obsessed with Lost Umbrella by Inabakumori which has its own share of key changes
Btw, I’d love to see you do a video on modes other than ionian (major) and aeolian (minor) in Kpop. Some keys you were confused on can be better explained with them, but I can’t seem to recognize chords for some reason
i listen to stamp on it so much that the switches arent so jarring anymore like the first listen 😭😭
i was also expecting to see priority from the 2022 smcu palace but maybe thats too many sm songs lolll i levitate every time i hear it its so good.
It's great video, but it was sometimes annoying to go back and pause to read. For me, personally, the pauses for reading sometimes were too short
But regardless thank you for interesting information
You say this is low effort but this is super interesting!
omg thank youuuuu for this video!!!! i'm not attentive enough to articulate even if it's something i like so this was so helpful in understanding!!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
great upload regardless of the “lower effort”❣️ zont worry babe
я люблю этот канал 🙏🙏🙏
corrections (i have perfect pitch btw)
2:11: the key is A Major, not A Flat Major 💀
2:46: this sounds like A Minor to me
3:28 that’s E minor
3:32 and it transitions into A Flat Major
3:41 this one is A Major/F Sharp Minor
4:30 you got C Minor but it changes into E Flat Minor, Not B Flat Minor
7:05 you got E minor but it changed into F Sharp Minor, Not F Minor
7:12 this one is also F Sharp Minor/A Major, Not G Sharp (which is technically A Flat Minor)
7:39 technically this is D Major but I’ll let it slide
8:25 this is F Sharp Major, not G Major
8:29 this is A Flat Major
THANK YOU FOR THIS- i also have perfect pitch and was like "hey wait isn't this A major" on heart attack's key change 😭
I purely came here for Mr Mr, because if I saw a video about key changes in Kpop and it didn’t mention the most amazing, flawless, satisfying and ICONIC key changes in all of Kpop I would have RIOTED. Great video 👍🏻
Hope you doing summer rain next video❤
2 fast closer to song structure too, i guess? Will be waiting for another video, I wish everybody knew about superm discography i love it so much 😭😭😭
Ah yes 2fast has tempo changes too right?
@@hellothere1381 tempo for sure, maybe other things too idk
I really like Dear H from Xdinary heroes beecause they used the key changes perfectly, makes you feel like they are telling you a nostalgic and sad story, then finishing off with a relief, you should listen to it is geat
also about red light by f(x) I believe the chorus and verses are also two different keys?
No self hate allowed. I still loved the video ❤
Here’s more
1. Do Better Do Vanner-The key changes when one of the members singing
2. Target Romeo-The key changes and the guitar start playing
3. Lovesick Romeo-The key changes when one of the members rapping
Just wondering, for Red Light, when you say no other section sounds like the last chorus, do you mean because the vocals are different from the previous choruses? Cause the chorus is the same key throughout the song
i think i also heard a key change in one of yenas solo songs but i forget which one, maybe in pt 2 you can add some more
another song i love that does this is same x3 svt vocal unit
literally no bad videos
There was a video about how key changes are getting rare in pop music, what do you think ?
What is your analysis of One Way by Loona yyxy??
Would love to see a version with boy groups
How do you guys can differentiate whether it is A major, B major, minor, and what so ever? huhu 😢
My favorite key change is Xdinary heroes' 'Dear H'
there were key changes in Pop?Pop! ???
Love stamp on it and almost all the stuff that was put in there, but it all is too much, literally getting tired every time listening to this song, sm should've cut a few sections out cause i really struggling finishing this song (i want but i can't), instrumental hella fine.
F(x) changed kpop
this vid is oddly similar to the key changes vids of 'diced ice' ...
Plz, one of afrobeats in kpop
Morning Musume's Chokkan 2 is the Japanese Bohemian Rhapsody lol
Chorus:Gbm to Gm
Verse:Dbm
Last chorus:Gm to Abm
Melody:???
Melody is very hard to describe...
A random mix of Gm>G>E
Savage is THAT titletrack and all, but that bridge is cringe af
✨MY🌈NAVIES🌸WE🥺LOVE💖💕YOU💋✨🌈🤮🤮🤮
i can't physically procced through this 🥲
but on the contrast of this cringy sweetness breakdance(?) and ending are hella sick.
Woodblock solo in the beginning of the second chorus is everything.
copied video?
I usually dislike key changes, especially the overused 3rd verse semitone augment. It feels lazy and can completely change the mood of a song, often spoiling it in the process
Is this like another Diced Ice channel or something? 🥲
Not trying to accuse anyone of anything, it's just more than half of the examples are the same as in that channel's videos and I found the editing similar, so I just wanted to know if it's the same person or not!
idk this channel is more focused on music theory side of kpop, but after watching the other one's video on key changes, this video seems sus. but this person explained everything much more in depth and talked about all key changes in chosen songs, not just one, so
@@pigeondance Yeah exactly! I thought the same, that's why I don't want to accuse anyone of anything but yeah was just weird hahah
oh so that's why i feel like seeing this video from somewhere but totally sure not from this channel😅 thanks God i am not hallucinating, not trying to say that they're the same but it just feels so similar
I thought I was the only one💀I was like I swear I saw these examples in this order
did you plagiarize diced ice?
