  • WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO MARRY A FILIPINA IN THE PHILIPPINES?
FIRST, you need to secure a marriage license.
To do this, you have to visit your Local Civil Registrar in the city where you want to be married and submit the following documents:
    1. Certified true copies of birth certificates from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
    2. Notarized affidavit of parental consent or advice for applicants below 25 years of age.
    3. Latest Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) or Certificate of Singleness.
    4. Certificate of Attendance in a pre-marriage counseling, family planning, and responsible parenthood seminar.
    5. Valid ID
    .
In addition to the above requirements, for foreign nationals, one has to also submit the following:
    1. Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry issued by the Consular office/embassy of his/her country
. For British applicants, it will be an affidavit or affirmation of marital status.
For U.S. citizens, its consulate is not allowed by law to make any certification about your eligibility for marriage in the Philippines. What it can only provide is an affidavit in place of the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry, which you can secure by appointment from the US Embassy in Manila or through a walk-in application at the U.S. Embassy in Cebu.
    2. Photocopy of your passport (showing the date of arrival and data)
If you have been annulled or divorce, you also have to provide Certificate of Finality of Annulment from the Court and Certificate of Registration from the Local Civil Registrar.
In case of a widow who wants to remarry, the death Death Certificate of the deceased spouse is also a requirement.
You can use the marriage license anywhere in the Philippines, and you have 120 days to get married once you have secured it. Otherwise, the license expires, and you need to get a new one again.

I was not disappointed going through these requirements, because for me having a Filipina wife was well worth the effort.

Greetings from Southern California! Thank you very much for this information. Seems like a lot to do. Maybe you can make a downloadable checklist? Also, sometimes it was hard to hear your voice above the background music. I loved the video and awesome information. Thank you, and I look forward to your next informative video. I will share.

Video quality is much better. The music the constant music makes this video seem more of a commercial. But still professional. The constant interruptions of different types of music is unique. But I think this style is something people are more used to. Although it could have used an ending. Like a nice thank you for watching or something. Or even a plug to your business. Like legal business consulting hours etc. Over all, nice video. Will definitely recommend. Thumbs up.

Thank you for this great information. I can now work on the new Plan A for what needs to be done. Unfortunately I cannot go to a local sari sari store and buy the documents for 20 pesos. Now I have to organize things. At least as a couple in the Philippines I do not think you have to social distance. Imagine always having to be about 2 meters from your spouse - that can cause a stressful marriage. Keep up with the great advice.

Wow, I thought we had a lot of red tape here in the USA. That sure is a lot of approvals that are needed to get married. I'm pretty sure there will be a fee at each step as well. All that was good information but what about plan B? Plan B could be flying back to the USA and getting married here. Or back to any other country for that matter. Will the Philippines not recognize a marriage preformed outside of the Philippines? It seems to me that it would just be easier to be married in another country. That is some good info for sure, so thank you for letting us know. I'm sure there are a lot of people looking information in this area. Expect some calls because I;m sure they are coming. TFS

hallo from South Africa i have a couple of questions is it legal to get married online in the philippines if im in South Africa and my fiance is in the philippines and we can get a marriage certificate to show we are married and if thats fine on what visa can me and my son go to the philippines why im asking that because we cant get married with this whole pendemic and i realy want to spend the rest of my life with her

    • @legallyfilipina3998
      @legallyfilipina3998  Před 3 lety

If online wedding is valid in South africa and you do it under the requirements of SA, then the philippines can recognize it.. But there is no online wedding in the philippines and if there is one, it would not be valid here yet.
