NEVER SLEEP WITH THE HIRED HELP. If you wish to engage in a romantic relationship fire her, and make her your girlfriend. You can always give your girlfriend an allowance. This avoids any legal issues from sleeping with the help, and shows her proper respect.
I’ve never had any legal problems sleeping with any of my maids over the years. 1 year contracts and always left on great terms. Perhaps the guys struggling are not being clear in the beginning.
@@misternobody9801 You don't until you do. It only takes one angry or opportunist woman to file a complaint on you, and BOOM, your life can become instant misery.
make a contract with services specified, including massages if desired.
if you want to bring your maid back home with you things can get complicated
@williampowell2722 why would you do that?
I had a live in maid from Vietnam in the States for a few years. I had a detailed to-do list and clear boundaries. From day one, she addressed me as Mr... and followed the checklist to the letter. Ten years after she moved on, we have remained friends, but she refuses to call me by my first name is still calls me Mr...Today, she is one of very few people that I would trust in my home, including my now x wife. I'm seriously considering her to be the executor/trustee of my estate. The bottom line is that if you establish clear boundaries, it makes everything better AND you may end up with a close friend for life.
That sounds right
when you do the right thing for the right reason it usually does end up good, if both follow that "rule"
You people make me sick .. " friend "
Great job I would keep her
Went to the Philippines in 2019 for work, i needed a maid to help keep things tidy as i was legitimately busy every single day with two jobs. 4 years later she is my wife and we have two children together lol.
EXCELLENT way to really get to know who you end up being married to, even if by accident, i wish you and her well, made me smile to read it
Do you still have to pay her? Probably, a lot more now !!
that how it goes, hard to remain Single in the Philippines 🙂
You win at life sir! Congrats!
Sometimes it works out :)
i've always had a maid in the US, and always hired an older lady 45 years or more and no funny business. One came on to me, and I told her, she could be my mother in law. In the phillipines, give your girlfriend a small allowance, and tell her she can give to her family when they are begging for loan, but you don't pay more. Trust me, these two things will help you so much.
Well done. First of your videos I’ve watched. You not only concurred with several others I’ve watched, you were more comprehensive yet more concise. Again. Well done.
I appreciate that!
House girls are all around in the Philippines. They can even answer calls & take messages if you have a landline.
Feed them well, give them weekly day offs. Don’t shout or insult them if they are not too smart.
I usually train them first the way I would like things to be done & I let them teach me also what they already know.
Eventually you will see how she can be trusted.
So nicely written 💓
It's refreshing to hear some insightful and informative content. Thanks!
Things are more relaxed than it seems. People don't care about any of these laws and stuff. It's the Philippines. However, don't abuse your Filipina maid just because you can get away with it. Some of you can afford to put them through school, pay them a little bit more, etc.. Treat them like you want to be treated. They are human beings in need. I'm not one of those guys worrying about saving a couple pesos with the trike driver or at the market. Come on guys, these people are human too. You all can afford to pay a little bit more. I said "a little bit" more!
Well said friend,,as stated we are all human and the ladies deserve the same treatment and respect as we would expect, they are wonderful ladies ,,
Do realize that if you pay them more, you will catch the ire of your other Filipino friends. There is a crab mentality that employees should not be paid much more "than they should be" and paying too much will upset the social order. Seriously.
@@jlawrence0181 "you will catch the ire of your other Filipino friends"
I don't understand what you are trying to say there. What other Filipino friends?
"There is a crab mentality that employees should not be paid much more "than they should be"
Where did you get that from and how will that affect you as an employer? First of all, nobody has to know what you pay your employees. That's a private matter. The only crab mentality that exists in the Philippines is Filipinos trying to bring down other Filipinos when they are trying to achieve success.
"" and paying too much will upset the social order."
How? Explain. How will a few foreigners paying an extra 1000 pesos to their maids upset the social order?
Treat her with dignity and respect. She is making your life easier
that's a fair point try telling that to the people that want to rip you off. I'm all for fair price and giving a wee bit more on a tip if that person gives me value gos above what is expected.
I've been looking for this information for months. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! subbed

Refreshing to hear coherent, well-spoken commentary! 😊
I grew up un Manila and we were not rich. We always had a maid. They usually came from provinces, wanting income in between the planting and harvesting seasons.
Some younger ones, my Mom sent for further education in vocational schools. Some have to be trained to clean the way we expected.
Usually, laundry was done by other people hired from the neighborhood.
A guy I used to work with brought his bride back to California. She had a maid there. Not a happy camper here.
@@dosbaggos5575 Man, what do you mean by "Not a happy camper here". I'm under anger management classes ordered by the court or else and guys like you really make just want to go back to prison. If you are Filipino and didn't know, you are clueless of your own country. These channels are only making money on Filipino misfortunes (looking for negative news) insulting the majority of educated and hard working pinoys.
I had a live in made for my household, 3 kids under 10, and my wife. After a few months she would come clean in my office while I was working. One day she went under my desk and serviced me. I was in shock, but didn’t stop her, next thing you no she was doing me in every room. Little did I know my wife paid her, and video me. Now 2 years later, I lost half of what I own.

I don't want dating advice. Too many of these channels are about sex. I'm glad you stick to the useful facts.
We have had a maid , laundry lady and yard maintenance guy for over 14 years. Always get them from our local area. Plus we hire xtra people especially the older ones when they’re in need of money..Anything form cleaning windows to washing floors etc. Stuff needs cleaning and they are happily working. Word of advice not always is this the case other place’s are different and maybe not going to have the best experience with workers.. You need to be on top of your game on this and if your spouse is not equipped to handle people then you’re going into gray areas and going to have issues..IF You have a GIRLFRIEND I suggest she’s the
house cleaner and laundry person that will ensure that she doesn’t just need a support dog like you..

correction po. Our housemaid still use automatic washing machines and only delicate clothes should be washed by hand. It takes time off the more important things and usually detergents are really harsh for skin. So please don't make them wash your clothes by hand. They will be thanking you and beore productive in their everyday
Maybe in Manila. But still in the province likes to washed by hand. Its more cleaned well in heavy stained.
@@Phil-Am_in_the_Philippinesthat is not true. People from provinces still longing to have washing machine . That's the fact now adays
@@helenlumz1404 Maybe you. But we still stick on basic way in our province.
Living in the province and Manila, I prefer to handwash my clothes and the kids clothes esp if they are new. if house clothes I wash them with soap n washing and cleanse them 3x by hand.
I handwash new clothes or I use them when I go out.
I often do the same even in Manila.
@@Phil-Am_in_the_Philippines If you yourself are the one to wash that way then it is fine. We never force that on anyone. I myself would wash or even “kuskos” clothes that are heavily soiled. But on our housemaid, nah. Kaya nga sila nag housemaid kase KAPOS silasa buhay so ayaw ko naman samantalahin given na madami rin gawa sa bahay and washing by hand, PAGOD NA PAGOD na sila when they do another work. Well if that is the only thing they do it for the whole day then fine, but I still can’t imagine more than a dozen clothes with different fabric thickness pa. Well, sometimes depends on your agreement na and how much clothes. But imagine a family of 3 with kids or even for two people lang for 3 days laundry madami na yun
EDIT: We’re in the province din po. After ng laba sa morning pwede sya magsiesta ng after lunch then resume ng work sa hapon. The work load isnt that heavy then may social time pa sya para naman turing na tao rin diba. Kase pets nga may social needs then tsaka para may time sa self nya and paglago whatever they chose to spend their time bahala sila.

My wife is Filipina but we have not lived in the Phils. We are thinking of retiring there so she can be near her family. i will likely get a housekeeper but i am not sure it would require full time since its only the wife and I and we aren't very heavy maintenance. Perhaps an ad on or separate video for part time Housekeeper help. your information was well delivered and i agree with all you explained. We have had housekeepers before in the middle east and its such a help to not have to use what little free time you get doing the daily chores a housekeeper performs. How much can one expect from part time housekeepers that don't live there full time ... and any other items that relate to part time help. thanks for your video.
Thank you for your very useful information. Keep up godbless
Thank you, I will
We just hired a family member to help us out. She lives there cooks and cleans. It’s a win win. She gets to live in a nice house and make a little money and we get much needed help to fit the budget. That’s the benefit of getting along well with a Filipina wife’s family 👍
very true comment there, Mr. Bill and I am called Wild Bill maybe from my younger days hahahaha I am over 72 now been living in the Philippines over 33 years and I actually been looking for a new maid to help the other maid we currently have now.
Although sometimes you get a family drama situation, I have been in the middle of something like that since the mid 80's we have been trying to stay out on the boundries of the situation but keep getting dragged in ... remember to stay out of family drama situations otherwise it may cost you a lot of money
Well said. I’m a new subs.
Pay on demand instead of in advance. The minimum wage including benefits is U$360 a month in Manila. 1/3 of which is benefits and holiday pay. Kasambahay (live in) get 1/3 less for food and lodging. In other cities its 2/3 and in the province down to 1/2. Kasambahay law started at minimum wage equivalent but was not pegged to inflation. Never the less the going rate roughly follows it. There are 13 paid regular holidays. Those are already included in the numbers I gave.
You are a wise man, thank you

The Philippines is probably the best place you can ever go for being an expat

Excellent Goertz! 🇨🇦 🍺
I'm considering retiring to the Philippines in about 5-10 years, and having a maid was on my list if that's where I choose to retire. This video cleared up a few questions I had, great information!!
From the research I have been doing, a good maid in the Philippines is almost a necessity for a single western guy, so I can spend more time enjoying retirement instead of standing in lines.
Not really a necessity but if you want to have a relationship you don't want to have that with a live in maid, I learned the hard way .. with a maid keep everything professional unless you plan on her being your children's momma .. I will be retiring in the Philippines I own property, will be setting up a resort, have a business running a boat touring to the islands already, have some farmland and farm animals ... You need to be ready to take care of yourself if you plan on retiring there
Definitely will be a professional relationship only with the maid.
Having someone take care of the mundane day to day things is what I want, so I have more time to enjoy myself.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!

If you do hire a full-time maid through an agency, you will be required to house and feed her as well as provide medical care and pay her, including payroll taxes and the agency fee. You will need a maids quarters or have a 2 bedroom 2 cr apartment which will also cost you more . For a single man, a part-time maid would be the best way to avoid the extra costs of a live-in maid . Also, have a safe or place for your valuable items as if you misplace your items, you won't have an awkward situation.

Finding a good fit is difficult for the part time use I would only need. -- A day a week would be enough for me - not a live in. -- Shop a bit cook a bit and clean a bit - all in 1 day / week. Food prep for 2 or 3 days. I'll cook a bit eat out a bit and be a happy camper !
The real concern should be implicit trust 😮
If I hire through an agency, who do I pay: The maid or the agency? How often is payday?
In the Philippines we Never had a Maid, My Wife wanted? to do all the Cleaning/Food stuf by her self (so it was done right). In Europe we Both Worked a Lot, so we had 5 Maids/Yayas (1 at the time), My wife did all the Talking,Testing and Hireing. She always hired Some very Christian, or Obese and One Guy so the Risk for Romantic encounters was reduced to almost Zero. It worked out quite Good, we had no problems with things dissapearing (we had some problems with one that was quite desperate to find a boyfriend and was close to leave us every time she thought she had found the love of her life). Only the last one we had, did run Away to a better paying Job after about 3 months time, we didnt hire a new one (we didnt needed it so much more and was too much hassel) 😯

Omg..are you talking about maid or slave? Just for your knowledge, generally, a maid is treated like a distant relative, especially in the province. We have a maid growing up and we call her auntie. We learned when we turned 16 that she was not a relative at all. Our parents want us to respect her like our aunt. We even try to avoid using the word "maid" to introduce them to friends/relatives visiting. We introduce them as " kasambahay" which means house companion because "maid" is almost like calling them slaves. In a lot of instances too the maid is a real relative. Your rigid rules exist in the minority (for example: multi-millionaires or maybe some politicians). Just so you know too, even if we have maid, that does not mean we are just going to just sit and wait to be served. We still do chores. Not even the multi-millionaires expect their maid to do everything. They will have 3 or 4 maids with specific jobs, like one in charge of cooking, one for cleaning and laundry, etc.
6-9k would be low for Manila for a full time maid.
wow, and here I was thinking of giving one 15k as efficiency pay....
we have a 'maid', though rather, the new operative term is 'domestic helper'. We currently have a husband wife pair who come in 3 days a week who do laundry, cleaning, occasional driving, and bill paying for us. Unfortunately, our previous maid who we got through college then stole over 100,000 pesos from us.
Woah, …did she lighten the wallet or how did she do that?
thats just what you know of, probably more
