Yamaha R1 Crashes On Tail Of The Dragon

- Here is a good run on the tail of the dragon that ended up ending somewhat bad. The ride could have been much better but also could have been much worse. Play with fire and eventually you're going to get burned. Both biker and bike are okay, Bike has slight damage on left side.

Your lack of reaction to the bike sitting there says it all. "well, I'm glad it didn't go all the way off the cliff but I guess I'll just leave it there" lol.
yea, i was honestly pretty scared to even touch it, I'm not sure how it even stopped from going down the hill. The video doesnt do justice, but that hill was almost a vertical hill lol that footpeg caught just right in the side of the mountain. Thanks for watching!
My buddy took a loss in that exact same spot. We had a beer over his broken parts at deal gap afterward and added them to the tree
Simple mistake. You weren't going that fast, could have made the turn if you just unclenched and leaned the bike, but you target fixated, braked and stood the bike up. We have all done it.
Some of the best lane discipline I've seen on this road. Too bad about getting too close at the end.

Glad you’re okay. I noticed early on that you should’ve been in front, you’re faster than you’re friend and looks like you went down to avoid hitting him.

I noticed you were riding a little close and thought if he rear braked during a turn its gonna be a bad situation for you, and it looks like that's what happened! Good thing you're safe and that bike didnt roll all the way down the hill! Stay safe.

Such a shame. Your buddy checked up big-time and the gap closes fast on the dragon. Hope you recovered the bike easily (make your buddy go get it) and got to continue riding that day.
yea, wasnt expecting him to slow down as much as he did and i kind of panicked a little bit, figured id be able to ride it out through the grass and back onto the road but it washed as soon as i hit the grass. i think i was still holding the front brake when i went in. but yea, after about 3 hours, we had it out and riding on the road again!
@@R1deFast In turn its also better to just bump the other rider if they slow down. It's an acquired skill but your buddy has to speed up after getting bumped or he'll most likely go down. You also have to lean hard away from the bump.

Good riding dude. Worst things could've happened. You walked away with your bike so it was a good day. I've been to the Dragon once and rode it several times. Those twisties are no jokes. Also rode on Cherohala skyway - amazing rodes.
yea, it could have ended much worse, but i was able to ride my bike just after we pulled it off the side of the mountain, only had some scratches, footpeg was a little bent, but other than that, bike was fine! but yes! i love cherohala

I can’t sleep and I had the road on my mind and how I wanna go back so bad and I’m sitting here rolling threw the videos and I see your bike without the mirrors and that same blue and same old style and I got a flashback! The first group I talked to when I got there and the last group I talked to before I left to go home, it took 16 hours to get home, it would have sucked so bad to pull around that corner and you to have been actually fucked up but luckily you were going slow. There is a hiking trail off this road where i came across a rusted-out bike. Looks like its been there for years. I guess the person could not get it out.

Yea that’s honestly been happening where I’m at as well, I honestly just think 2020 is just out to get everyone. Luckily the bike was okay and was able to ride it for the rest of the time being there

I just did the tail in a boring Mustang last week. I didn't believe the road could really be that good...but it's really that good. Only came across two pokey drivers, no actual pokeys and very light traffic in mid-march. Perfect day. The 'stang did surprisingly well, plenty of power with even the little turbo 4, brakes held up great but it was the tires that ultimately gave up around mile 6 and started getting greasy. AA traction goodyears with a treadwear rating of like 600...baloney. At least we weren't in a minivan.
yea a lot of people dont realize how nice that road really is. but that is awesome you were able to still have some fun on it! first time i was ever down there was in highschool and i had no idea what that road was. Had a vacation down in fontana and we had to go on it and it was awful, now here i am, it being one of my favorite road. You should check out the cherohala next time youre down there man!
@@R1deFast I wish we'd arrived earlier in the day and done all the fast roads in the area, but the only other one we did was the parkway to the Northeast. It's all long sweepers, would have needed to be doing 100+ to have fun, so we just set the cruise and checked out the views.

honestly, there werent even bushes there. i have no idea how my bike didnt go to the bottom of the hill.. nothing was holding it and it was standing straight up, but we had to use a truck and some straps and drug it out lol

The bike didn’t wreck the rider did! The Dragon is not a race track and that is were you need to be with your sport bikes and your leathers

@5:13 the rider in front braked pretty hard, I would have taken that as a cue to slow down and maybe move to the outside to give a bigger(aka slower) turning radius
straighten up to slow to appropriate speed, get to outside, resume turn as normal

My buddy slowed way down and wasn’t expecting him to be so slowed down, wasn’t prepared to slow down like that so I panicked to avoid him. Went super wide and was going to ride it out through the grass and as soon as I hit the grass, it washed out :/

Thanks for the input, i’ll take that into consideration! I could be a bit smoother in some aspects but that goes with everyone. Majority of those apexes require my head to be over the yellows, not a huge fan of being that close to the yellows, though it does happen from time to time. But I did learn, I thought I was going to hit my buddy so I straightened it up to brake, I thought I was fine and was going to ride in the grass and back into the road but I kept the front brake applied so it washed the front. But thanks for your input

The Harley riders are riding at half the normal speeds and still can’t control their bikes. Also, it is a racetrack, or at least I’ve been told by many people. Tell Barb I said hi HOSS.
