Considering that I've seen Gordon call people out for using Beef in a Shepherds pie instead of lamb I find it especially funny that Gordons frozen Shepherds pie is made of beef and not lamb.
I literally pointed that out when I saw those at Walmart! He was so bitchy when he was in that Irish pub restaurant about the cottage pie thing but I guess it would've been just fine if his reps had a licensing agreement with them.
You're acting like he has a hand in making this crap.
BRO
@@ryanrichardson76he should, his name is the one that's on it 😂
True sign he's sold out. If he cared at all it would at least be called "cottage pie."
Please do the whole Ramsay line of frozen meals! I bet a lot of hilarity will ensue.
He has been doing this.
Seems a little like he's going all Chef Skinner. What's next corn ̶d̶o̶g̶s̶ puppies?
Do it in Ramsay style and every time you serve something be like what the F*#%k is this.
Yes please! Wolfie! We must have this!
@@nealgrimes4382 You used a MICROWAVE!!!! (In my best Ramsay voice.)
What makes it a Gordon Ramsey meal is that he personally pre-chewed it for you
I just bought it from Walmart. It is disgusting the lasagna on the other hand was actually really good
Put that particular dish in front of Ramsay at somebody else’s restaurant and he would immediately begin cursing a blue streak and telling all the customers the restaurant is now closed.
On another topic; I vote for full nutritionals.
All of the cursing and emotions are show. Just like he has no say in what's in these meals and doesn't care as long as the checks show up, the showmanship is what made him wealthy. It's all fake.
Only when the establishment was presenting itself as an "authentic" British or Irish Pub.
Ramsay has never been a linguistic pedant.
I wouldn't say he'd tell everyone to leave as he would only do that if there were issues with the safety of the ingredients. However, I believe he is going to retire soon and is trying to get as much money as possible, even if it ruins his image, before he does so.
He's a corporate chef now. He doesn't care if they put camel butts In the food so long as them checks keep coming
@@toma.4808
"Corporate Chef" ...as if.
You donkey! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a bit hard to bugger up a shepherd or cottage pie if you use real meat and veg - but my main complaint with one of these would just be the lack of potato - when I make one of these, there's at least 3cm of potato - with cheese, and it goes into the oven till it's just on the verge of browning so there's a slight crust to it. He's also not wrong about the cheese - parmesan makes a big difference.
Potato is also such a CHEAP vegetable, why do these frozen meals never have enough?
I saw this in the store and I thought, "Oh my goodness, Ramsay. You have become everything you swore to destroy."
It's not just that he rails against frozen food in restaurants. He's actively been working to get people back in the kitchen and not rely on frozen meals at home.
Gordon has always been a hypocrite. He's chastized restaurant owners for being "abusive" to staff. I mean really. Abusing staff was what started to get Ramsay famous..
$$$ changes everything lol
Sellout
@@AndyJay1985 🎯👍💯 nailed it!
In the UK, a shepherds pie is made with lamb, hence the name shepherds. If it's beef, it's a cottage pie.
This ain't the UK. It's always been made with beef here in the states.
@otanjello6051 Then it's not shepherds pie, is it ?
Maybe it's a cow pie.
@suetraudt5749 Sounds about right.
@@suetraudt5749
🥇 Gold medal comment
interesting, since white cheddar is actually traditional, but you would think it would more match his recipe.
Also sheppard's pie doesn't contain beef, but that's pretty common in the US to call both cottage pies and Sheppard's pie the same thing.
@@TheGreatKingBooSorry to be an ass, but you do realize that things take on different names in other places, right? They're called "shepherd's pie" in the United States, which is where these are sold. Also, they're not cottage pies because they don't use sliced potatoes on top, which resemble the roofs of cottages. So there. 😛
Gottem coach
@@englishatheartwhat are you on 😂 traditional cottages have thatched roofs 😂😂
@@englishatheart Cottage pie has mash on top... You may be "English at heart" but I was fucking born and raised in England... Just enlighten me, what animal does a shepherd look after?
As a non uk resident never heard the distinction between cottage pie and shepherd's pie I've never liked lamb or mutton so I'd take cottage pie.
I really enjoy your videos. I now can't stop eating smoked oysters because of you lol. I feel like these "Chef inspired meals" are just a way for the Chef to get money out of licensing their name, and for the companies that throw them together to jack up the price. And read the whole nutritions facts as you normally do, no one else seems to do that on CZcams.
Gordon shouldn’t have ever put his name on a frozen dinner. He was already so rich there was no need to cheapen his name.
Smoked oysters are good!
Just call it cottage pie and everyone's happy
@@willissudweeks1050 this is what he has been doing ever since he started reality tv in the US. People just kept giving him the benefit of the doubt even when he was obviously selling out his own persona.
Re: the dollops: There's another shepherd's pie put out by a well known frozen food purveyor (I won't name her) that has the mince covered edge to edge with mash. But it never stays completely in place; when the package is opened it's always slid to one side or the other and looks kind of awful even tho it doesn't affect the taste. I'm betting the dollops stay in place better and if they do move around, which happens a lot with frozen meals when the stores aren't careful, it doesn't look bad.
That is not a Shepherd's Pie... it is a Cottage Pie. Shepherds do not herd cows..they have a bunch of sheep... Naturally, having a mother that spent significant time in England, she hammered that into my mind... (We had Leg of Lamb about 6 times a year, and after the initial meal, we had great Shepherd's Pie....
I was thinking that very same thing.
Def gonna have to try it
Ya no one cares. In America where this is sold a shepherd pies can be both. Food can change.
@@Abluemoon9112That's pretty ignorant of someone elses culture tbh
@@augustwettergren9029 you know how dumb that reply is? That is like saying the American biscuits is a wrong biscuit because the British biscuits are different.
Times are tough. I can't justify $5.94 for a 10 oz meal. My wife's recipe is very easy and tasty. 1-1/2 lbs seasoned ground beef, 2 cans condensed tomato soup, can of green beans. Top with mashed potatoes and shredded cheddar. Bake. More food for a lot less cost per oz.
Cottage pie is pretty simple! Almost $6 for one frozen portion? Yowza!
What kills me is that Gordon Ramsay belittles restaurants for using frozen items, then he goes a puts his name on a frozen dinner. And he of all people should know, that if it's made with ground beef it's not Shepard's Pie, it's called Cottage Pie. Shepard's Pie is made with lamb.
I mean I don't see anything wrong with having frozen dinners, we all know it's not gonna be high class.
I really isn’t that serious man. He’s just trying to make a buck like everyone else in this world.
in a restaurant yeah but he doesn't just hate frozen meals
@@stanlee7635 no, the people he berates are trying to make a buck to survive... He is just accumulating more money than he could ever spend.
average american consumer doesn't know the difference due to how it's marketed here.
If it has beef it is cottage pie, shepherd's pie must have minced lamb.
Three Blind Mice Irish Pub in Mount Clemens Michigan has the best Guinness braised beef cottage pie i have ever had
I suppose that mutton would do instead of lamb…
I've been to that bar, used to be called the Voodoo Lounge
Wow! They used beef instead of lamb and cheddar instead of Parmesan and it's delicious!
Nothing wrong with beef in a potato topped pie like that but I am fairly sure using beef changes it from a Shepherds pie into a Cottage pie
I wouldn't care, I like beef and cheddar.
honestly its hard to find lamb in a lot of areas in the US outside of going to a greek/mediterranean restaurant. You can find it if you really look for it but you won't find it at the grocery store. I've never actually had a lamb-based shepereds pie but its always beef or sometimes bison meat. Maybe this is different in other regions but in the midwest i only hear people call it sheperds pie.
Thank you for being awesome Larry I really appreciate all that you do
Absolutely love this frozen meal!!!
Love your honest reviews and hearing the nutritional data. Probably won’t be buying those chef inspired meals and you saved me pulling out the packages to read in the store. Thanks!
I'm guessing the six dollops of potato and cheddar is due to the manufacturing line have two spigots that squirt three dollops each as it goes by. Makes for a faster production line than having to stop and make one big squirt.
Bingo. _Squirt, NEXT, Squirt, NEXT_ lol 👍
Had one today and loved it, thanks man
I check the temp on the big platters of microwave lasagna to avoid having an almost frozen middle.
I really enjoyed this one too. The flavor was very strong
I’m glad you liked it, I have never seen a frozen meal look so far from the photo on the box though.
I enjoy your videos and I'm ok with you reading the nutrition facts like you normally do.
Ramsay has always been the King of Pranks. This is no different.
Perfect thumbnail pic.
It’s an absolute must that you check the internal temperature of your microwave dinner with the cleanest finger or thumb you have available at that particular time😊
And if you promptly yelp *ow! Dammit!* it's done. XD
@@SarafinaSummers😂😂😂
When I saw you going for bite #3 I figured it was going to be pretty good! LOL Thanks for posting this!
Love when you post!
Love these videos! ❤
Thank you!!
Totally forgot about this channel, been YEARS, nice to see you're almost to a milli subs
Thanks for the review Larry. Next time I go to Walmart I'll pick one of these up and give it a try. Thanks for sharing. Take care 👍.
I never check the temp of frozen food unless I'm making those stuffed chicken beast (which I bake) since they come raw and I prefer to avoid salmonella.
Stuffed chicken beast does sound a bit fierce, I'd stuff it twice to make sure!
Money speaks louder than ethics
As a Englishman with a Italian dad I would definitely use cheddar over parmesan in a cheesy mash
Thanks great video
Wow! 😮 Guess I’ll have to try it.
Literally sitting on a porcelain throne to watch this.
That’s probably where you’d end up after eating this as well.
Euphemism.... "Going to Taco Bell"! 😂
Glad to see you uploading more and no I do not check the internal temperature.
Wow you could probably do much more content of stuff like this, I have also seen Chef Ramsay's Lasagna and Kardea Brown's country fried chicken and mashed potatoes in my area, various pot pies, and more. If they had them in your area, could be worth a look for sure.
I say no with reading the nutrients...what if you eat something healthy? We'll be here all day 😊
the editing in that shepherd's pie video is hilarious, it's so fast paced like it's an action film or something
Love your videos wolfpit been watching you since you made that bologna sandwich with the cheese and mushrooms.
Good review, thanks for sharing, God bless !
Thanks, you too!
Based on Wolfie's review alone I decided to give this a try. I don't use a microwave, so I removed the frozen meal from the cardboard bowl, put it on a metal plate, then put it in the air fryer at 350 for about 20 minutes. It came out perfect, and was surprisingly good. The only off-putting thing about it was the words "Contains a bio-engineered ingredient" on the box - I do my best to avoid things like that, but since I did a Walmart pickup order I didn't read the box before I bought it. Even so, I enjoyed the meal. Would I buy it again? Maybe - if I was pressed for time. However, considering that it's quite pricey for a small amount of food (You'll need to supplement it with a salad and some bread to make a meal of it), and has an unspecified bio-engineered ingredient (vaxxed meat or ????), I was motivated to do a search for Gordon's original shepherd's pie recipe and will make it myself. Not only will it work out cheaper, but I can control what I put into it.
The corn is almost certainly the bioengineered ingredient. There is no bioengineered animal product approved for use by the FDA or USDA for human consumption.
Wow I'm impressed!
My local super market, ShopRite, has prepared and refrigerated shepherds pie for $9. They are big enough for 4 meals each and are very good.
Oh wow!
Great review. I'm going to have to go get me one❤
Been watching for years and i usually fast forward past the nutritional part
Same here.
Me too
Yeah, don't really give a damn about that part. If i cared, i wouldn't be buying a frozen meal.
I look at the carbs and the sodium. If I ever really want to see anything else I just look at it.
Thanks for another great video. I'm glad that this one was worth the price. Even accounting for different tastes, you have to wonder why so many frozen dishes cost so much but deliver so little. To answer your question, not only am I fine with you just reading the usual nutritional info, I'd even be OK if you left all of it out. If I want to know, I can pause the video. I have to say, though, it's pretty funny when you comment on how much sodium some dishes are packing.
This flood of frozen meals from tv chefs is pretty dam funny
So happy to see plasta Sue back in the videos 😅 Keep then coming cuz We The People are loving this 😂
Awesome ❤
This one was a shocker I would have never thought it would be a 9/10 !!
Certified Gold!!!!!
No one temps pre cooked frozen food. It's just on the label to avoid suit in case of contamination.
The look on Gordon's face like, you ACTUALLY bought that?
ive never checked the temp of microwave meals and never had any trouble i think but i also follow the instructions when first eating sothing until i get the hang of it then i do it the way i think is best
It's amazing
Another great vid . Looking forward to more. And I could Shepard pie 3 times a day. With a break for corned beef and cabbage.
Sounds great!
Great video...and I must say your pink nails look absolutely divine!
Oh thank you!
Your nails looked great in this one !
Man, I can't believe you're still making videos. Started watching you 6 years ago!
Wow a 9. Never check the temperature on anything I microwave. If it burns the top of your mouth it's done. Lol. Keep em coming Larry
Microwaves are sketchy. I've had nukef food scalding hot outside and still literally frozen inside.
@@lancerevell5979i encourage you to read up on how they function. Pretty neat
I've cooked pasta in the microwave before
@@lancerevell5979 I find lowering the power level and increasing the time helps with that a lot (I often reheat thicc stuff like lasagna on the defrost setting so it heats all the way through), so does the "wait 2 minutes" part in the instructions on most microave meals..
Still the best food review channel
It tastes good, I am a fan.
I tried this an thought it was yummy! Now I need to find a recipe for it
It's always fun when a dish that looks like the hottest garbage turns out to be a taste buddy. Soon as I saw that, I was thinking it was probably going to be pretty good, given the ingredients. It does bum me out a bit that it's more of a generic cottage pie than a Ramsay' Special Shepherd's Pie, but I wouldn't care too much about that if it was good.
That was a surprise! ❤
Had it the other night and it was delicious
Yeah it's a decent cottage pie.
I know why they went with little dollops of mash instead of a thick layer, it's because mashed potatoes being reheated from frozen takes FOREVER, while the meat and gravy cooks relatively fast.
I know these meals are about convenience, but there is a simple solution to this. You package the potatoes separately in their own container, heat them up apart from the gravy and beef and veg, then spoon it on top.
You could even put it in a retort pouch, direct the consumer to boil the bag and massage/shake it to mix it up after warming up, then cut the corner and pipe the potatoes on top.
I have this in my freezer now lol now i can eat it without fear
Thank you for the review. I love Cottage (Shepard's) pie, and used to make it often. I am also a Gordon Ramsay fan, though I qsq why he would go into frozen meals (other than the $$$). Oh, well. I will look for this at our four local Walmalls here in New Bern! BTW, why don't they put oven instructions on frozen meals anymore? Our above stove Bosch Microwave/exhaust hood went nuclear last week, and it will be until Friday for them to install a new one. Being disabled and in a wheelchair, that's something I cant attempt. Therefore, I've been cleaning out the freezer. I noticed almost every frozen meal had no oven instructions. I made some enchilada's (El Monterey) brand in the oven, using my best estimate of time and temp. They burnt up, even putting them into a covered tin plate. Gee, i was a chef 40 years, why cant I figure this crap out??! Take care, Your friend, Rob
because frozen food isn't that bad, but gordon has just been on a for-TV pointless crusade against frozen food for some time now and putting his face on frozen food products certainly seems to make him a bit of a hypocrite sellout.

the best shepherd's pie i have ever had (other than home made, obviously) is the ones sold at ALDI. they're delicious and such a cozy food to eat on cold fall/winter nights.
Seriously? It's ok. Not much veggies in it. Weak flavor.
Well it looked bad from where I am but glad it tasted good. I make my own meals. Oh, yes on the ingredient list.
You had me rolling on the taste test XD
The ingredients list on this is pretty wholesome TBH.
Yes, the whole nutritional facts would b awesome, if u feel like it! Thanks! 🤘
Traditionally, a shepards pie is made with lamb and a cottage pie is made with beef. I couldn't help noticing they skimped on the veggies. It should have a combination of softened carrot, onion and celery, known in French cooking as a mirepoix and enough mashed potatoes to cover the dish. If you say it tastes okay, I'll take your word on it.
This is NOT Shepherds Pie. It is a Cottage Pie. Ramsay should be ashamed of himself - he absolutely berated someone on Kitchen Nightmares for doing exactly this.
You are correct!
Exclusively at Walmart!🤣😂
I love the Gordon memes 😂
Unless I accidentally burnt it by going with the directions YES I do check the temp. I'm a dork like that plus I like to bbq a ton so I have an instant read thermometer on hand.
Before I got into bbqing (back when I was a preteen) no I never checked it.
Mr Wolfe pit. That shepherd pie looks awesome!! If you like it,Gordon's going to make a mint! Love your videos 📹 keep up the great work 👍

As far as shepherds pie goes, it looks awful... On the other hand, as a cottage pie, it works.
Very easy to make in oven at home with the proper ingredients less sodium at a cheaper cost with better taste
Yes for sure
I saw this at Walmart tonight, thought about buying it. I didn't. Then I get home to see this 😊

Streamer, Reading all of the nutrition facts is a plus.
Well done Larry, now I need to make some shepherds pie tonight👍🏼😂🥃🇺🇸
I can’t wait for a frozen Beef Wellington! 🤤
it should be in a smaller diameter container to have the mash thicker
I don't check the internal temp of microwaved frozen packaged food. I think it's a USDA requirement that it be heated to 165F since that's when all microbes are killed at one second. But it's too high a temp for many foods to retain their ideal texture and flavor.
I've never once checked the internal temperature of a frozen dinner.
It's easier for the assembly line when they're creating those meals for there to be several nozzles dropping dollops all at once as opposed to trying to measure out one big dollop and having things pass through it would slow it down
my kids love the sheperds pie i make
i have literally never checked the temperature of anything I've heated/cooked in the microwave lol
I always go for like the middleground of the times they list on the package, I don't think I've ever owned a 1000 watt microwave so I kinda always skewed a bit longer.
Glad you enjoyed this one. I quite enjoyed it as well. While it is amusing to see Gordon allow his name to be plastered on things that he himself wouldn't stand for, I really liked this meal. It came SHOCKINGLY close to replicating the taste of the "shepherds pie" that my mom used to make when I was growing up which also incorrectly used ground beef and was topped with cheddar cheese lol. Never ever in my life would I have thought a soulless celebrity tie-in frozen meal would give me a ratatouille moment but here we are 🤷
It's nothing like real shepherds pie... Shepherds pie doesnt contain beef. Cottage pie has beef.
