Can you see the virtual screen well without glasses?
i really would have liked to see you attempt some VR on those glasses. perhaps using either phone/google VR through the phone, or even PC VR through steam.
the glasses have head tracking, 3D, and you could use a gamepad for the controller, similar to other VR setups.
Virtual Boy 2: It's still red.
Virtual Boy 2: Now With Less Headaches!!!
Yes but green as well I'm kidding
Like your juice
This comment is 10/10.
As tradition
Nintendrew's beard is gaining more power every video!!
Ay tetra! I gotta say, your content is incredible. The way you make it, the research you put into it, all for us! Thank you for bringing us your great content, no matter what it is!
Now your playing with power… beard power
I can see that being the future of gaming for sure. Loved the review
I love how you always find/come up with the coolest, randomest accessories one can imagine😂
That looks so dope. I was a fan of the 3D TV era. I was using PlayStation 3 with a 3D TV. What an experience that was. I will have to look into this! Do more videos on this thing!
me too! Motorstorm Apocalypse was my favorite 3D game. Wish I could still get a 3D TV.
That VirtualBoy setup is cooler than it should be xD
The editing is incredible! Great job!
This feels like something from a sci-fi movie, and the fact that stuff is actually really is so cool.
I really appreciate the visual representation on your video physically showing how it will appear when you play it. Very cool invention - thank you for sharing!
Loving that there’s an adaptor for prescription lenses, it’s nice to be able to see while you play 😅
This does seem like it would be a cool accessory for gaming, and something that I’d be interested in picking up in the future. But for now I’ll stick to watching videos like these. Awesome video!
There’s also this modification you can install or commission someone to install on the Virtual Boy that taps into the eye piece data and outputs a clean VGA signal which you can then use with an HDMI adapter. I can imagine the Virtual Boy experience being better when using the original hardware. With no emulation or glitches.
The elusive Virtual Boy missing from my collection. This may be a good work around in your near future, so says my magic 8 ball.
All Virtual Boys I've found so far all have the right eye not working. So this may be the only way for me to get that Virutal Boy game play.
Thanks NintenDrew!
This looks like something a student would use in order to not pay attention to the teachers or to cheat in a test, i love it.
Who needs to learn calculus when you can watch "Jason and the Argonauts"?
This is really cool, I can see this being one of the next biggest next gen pieces of tech. Cool review!
that's some seriously cool tech! and props for trying the virtual boy stuff, definitely a neat idea.
Keep up the good work can't wait to hopefully see you again later this year at the convention in November
"Drew dives into the movie "They Live" but for the sake of gaming!"
That is indeed one cool piece of tech thanks for showing us!
Very interesting and creative experiment !!! This reminds me of when I was 8 years old and I hooked up my Super Nintendo into my dad’s VHS camcorder and I played it by putting my eye into the tiny 1” inch viewfinder. 😂 I love technology.
Honestly, think that playing virtual boys with this type of style instead of the original having your room in the background along with the game that you’re currently playing such as Mario’s tennis without the need of having a weird background that is all completely black like with the original virtual boy does and you can see the background of your room I think it’s much more better this way plus it doesn’t even hurt your eyes when you use it in a much more longer extended period of time
Wow. I work as a delivery driver for some of those apps that you might know about. I usually bring my switch with me and play while I’m waiting on a trip. These glasses would be so much better, and the black out cover would prevent glare. I need these so bad.
What??? This is crazy haha. I am SOOOO picking this up. Thank you so much man.
I like how recently Nintendrew has been using super high tech and modern technology to improve the experience of freaking N64 and Virtual Boy games
You did a great job translating the experience of the nreal, which is really hard to do in video form. Nice work
These are pretty cool. I might buy them for a trip in June.
Surprised I havent heard of these before, quite cool!
I'm very interested in this 🤔 Thanks for the showcase!
You did it, you got curious. Probably the best 3d concept I’ve heard about so far. Good video pal!
I would say that while they realized they _could_, they never stopped to think if they *should*. But then you realized *you* should.
Love the idea!
I honestly think these are soooooo cool! I will definetely get these glasses when I have enough money! :)
Thanks so much for this video and I will try to get these as soon as I can!
Very cool tech. Thanks for sharing!!😎
That looks really cool actually!
i side loaded virtual boy on to my quest 2 and i love it! always wanted to play some of these games!
These look so cool and futuristic.
"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.”
It’s so easy for Nintendo to make a virtual boy mini console, or some re-release of it using some cheap LCDs today. I wish they would make it.
I have a pair of these I bought to use with SteamDeck and with my iPad for watching movies while travelling. I have to say you left out one very important benefit to them: you no longer crane your neck downward to look at the device screen! Much more inclined to keep your head straight up and looking in a more natural forward position. :)
This is really way better than the actual virtual boy from 1995😀👍🏼🎮
this is wild, what a great idea
I could imagine these being really cool for getting into VR, with the blockout lenses. all you would need are controllers and a really long USB C cable. these do need a headphone jack of some sort, but you can always pair BT headphones or use an HDMI audio grabber with the device you want to use.
3D was an under appreciated wonder, I reckon if it ever comes back it’ll be without glasses like the 3DS 🤞🏻
as a huge VB fan, this put a huge smile on my face!!!
Not having Virtual Boy games on the 3DS felt like a missed opportunity. I'd love to play some of these in 3D at some time!
I was kinda hoping you'd have gone more in depth about how you'd done it, but oh well, I'm a nerd so I'm sure I can figure it out on my own.
Cool idea; I'm just not quite sure about the problem of these glasses having hardware features that are only usable by one closed platform.
Had a look at the compatibility list. I'll want to wait a while before I can get a pair.
I mean, it does make your ears bit more uncomfortable with those things that holds your glasses up to your face but still it doesn’t hurt your eyes that much and doesn’t give you that much of a headache… Unless if you have your room in complete darkness
Dude we totally agree on 3D stuff; especially games. When Sony started abandoning 3D they sold the 3D PS3 display for dirt cheap(I got the display, two sets of glasses, and two games for $150) and I had a whole lot of fun playing games like Motorstorm and Uncharted 3. I still have the display today, the glasses are dead though. I wish passive glasses had been released first, I really think the active glasses(with all their issues) soured most anyone who would have really gotten into it.
3D movies could live on in VR if the studios would get behind it. The 3D works so much better when you are in a "controlled" environment like VR, and I suspect that with the Blackout glasses and 3D movies on these glasses are is just as immersive for the same reasons.
@4:00 Some reason it tells my brain it's 2d with some 3d ish. It has this weird 3d effect sometimes when you stare at an image for a while. Like the reds pop a bit.
This is real innovation omg!
As soon as Nintendrew puts on the dark shades, the “I Wear My Sunglasses At Night” song starts playing lol
That’s awesome! Maybe one day, there can be a palette update for the emulator to give these games color.
We are living in the future! I want one, but methinks I would be VERY addicted to it... X) I'm not a hundred percent on board with the "everything In VR" trend, but this is just awesome.
I swear I've seen of this concept in some fictional work, albeit with "touch capabilities." The future just keeps arriving, and I might be more interested if the adapter had an extra external plug of some sort for when the battery no longer holds a charge.
It's virtual boy that doesn't give you headaches or causes you to vomit. Definitely an improvement.
It would be neat if Nintendo could release a set of those glasses as a Virtual Boy mini-console of sorts
That's pretty dope, I probably won't get it but nice little piece of tech
Kinda cool that it has black out as an option. I've tried both AR and VR headsets and VR gave me a bad experience due to it tricking my brain a little too well, so to speak (VR disassociation). So for it to offer the option of immersion without taking actual reality out of the equation, that's nice. Still not my kind of thing to buy, but certainly on the right track.
This would be perfect for watching IMAX movies at home.
Basically a spiritual successor to Tiger Electronics R-Zone but done right without the head strap 😆.
I would love to have one of these glasses, but... living in Brazil is very expensive, and very difficult to buy things like that... US$379,00 is more expensive than a good salary here (when having a good job, with good salary, one person here can have US$200, if it's lucky enough). And the tax for import is more US$480,00 (I hate brazilian taxes).
The only chance to me for having one of those glasses someday, is just if I move myself and live outside Brazil... X.x
I had a pair of those, I would probably use them for my gaming and youtube watching.
I picked up a pair of these shortly before going on vacation a couple weeks back and man, these things were amazing to use on the flight and in the hotel room. Now they go and announce they'll be releasing Nebula for Windows in April/May which will allow you to view a simulated 21:9 monitor in front of your face so now you'll have a portable ultrawide monitor to use. My only complaint so far is there's when using them on my phone there's no elegant way to keep your phone charged while using them (most USB-C splitters just do power and/or data, none I could find will do DisplayPort) so here's hoping in the next revision NReal takes this into consideration. Now to see if there's a 3D Virtual Boy emulator on Android and try this out! (No Steam Deck sadly, lol)
These glasses can also be used to play PC games in 3D using super depth 3d, or even better for compatible games, Geo11. I'm tempted to pick up a pair to use for this
Legend!!
I find it interesting how Google Glass was essentially shuttered the moment the general public started freaking out about the privacy implications, yet now we have VR glasses, drones, AR games, and many other devices constantly filming and the GP doesn't bat an eye 🤔
Cool. I love the secret method you told us to get the Side-by-Side (3840x1080) view. Where can we find content to try this type of video out? Is there a group of CZcams channels that has that kind of media?
Totally with you about 3D TVs. There was barely a price difference even within a brand, so it getting phased out made no sense to me.
Oooo. That's interested and awesome
*Squidward going future* great video!
Back to the Future 2s tv sunglasses are now reality.
Oh my the future is crazy 😮
I still remember the day I got my virtual boy. Walmart was getting rid of them and were selling the systems for $30. I remember playing Mario tennis nonstop for several weeks.
400 dollars for something straight out of Star Trek isn't expensive imho
facinating
AYYY FINALLY
a virtual boy 2 XD
i understand (and agree) with criticism about doing a review of something ur sponsored by, but good GOD these things look sick
I love 3D, I have a 3D monitor I like to use. AR glasses are definitely something I want to get at some point. I just dont know for sure if I want to go with Nreal Air. Maybe Rokid max? I am still not sure. This tech is still so new.
Would a USB OTG splitter cable work with the Nreal adapter? If so, you should be able to charge and play at the same time.
Next nintendo direct about to be insane
This could work great for a game like Star Citizen… very cool!
i wish i had all your nintendo stuff
I really like this idea. And if you use some Bluetooth headphones, it's pretty much the Buddha box from South park
Virtual boy looks really good emulated on Quest2
This sounds unreal.
what a time to be alive
i was qondering if nintendo would officiall do this and make a new virtual boy nintendo headset... 30 years ahead of its time lol but now its time and your video proved it now u needs make a 3d printed ai designed modern red virtualboy
Awesome. I’m not too familiar with steam deck, but I know of it. Do you need an adapter to use it to play Virtual Boy? Also what controller do you use to play it? The VB had a crazy controller with 2 d pads and 2 face buttons on each side, and 2 shoulder buttons. I guess a new controller would easily do the same, but I might get confused since I’m used to using both left and right face buttons. Haha. Thanks Drew. Cool video. I wanna experience VB like this!
Twilight princess on the Wii would be so cool. I wonder how that would work with the motion controls.
When I was a little kid back in the 90s I remember thinking how cool it would be to have a video game monitor in some glasses. That imagination is now real.
May you live long❤
These are awesome! Wish I wasn't broke!
Finally i can. Pass the time while waiting at hospitals and dmvs now
Any side effects from prolonged use of this glasses? Headache, pink eye or so
I would honestly use it for work or just like you said navigation when not playing games.
Sure there that cable but I'd be fine with it.
That abit cool 😎
Where can I get one of those USB-C Portable Switch Docs?
Sweet, it actually attaches to your face
They can be a good telepromter substitute.
Wow the future
