Buy a red model and call it a Virtual Boy.
BAHAHAHAHAHA! 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂Love it!!!
Nintendrew did that actually, kinda.
An Xtra Virtual Boy?
AYO WAIT A MINUTE! THAT’S GENIUS! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One thing I keep feeling that is left out of reviews on this product is how usable is it for people who wear glasses. Would love a follow up with more info on this.
yeah, I should have mentioned there is an adapter in the box for prescription lenses. I should have mentioned that! Sorry.
Yeah definitely a major point I noticed was missed in this video
This is a great point.
@@MetalJesusRocksGood to know. Thanks.
was totally wondering the same thing! I wonder how well the adapter actually works for glasses .
I got a pair of these and love them! Just used them for my flight to Florida!
Yeah, these are gonna be in my travel bag going forward. I got brutal neck strain on the 11 hour Japan trip, so these should fix that.
Are they very HD? the movies looks crystal clear or somehow pixelated?
Excellent review, MJR. I am a real fan of AR's direction, and this is the new best for portability. Playing Switch games this way sounds awesome.
Having just recently purchased a Quest 2 and am loving it, seeing this has Definitely peaked my interest!
Thanks for the video, was very fun to watch :)
I've used these too and the image is like...wow! impossibly crisp. I also agree with your other points on the dimming and the beam fixing the display to one place to stop motion sickness. My takeaway is that these are like 1 more generation to being an absolutely killer must have system.
I think you're right. I haven't tried these yet but I feel one more generation will take this from a curiosity to a got to try piece of tech.
Kind of worried that 1080p won't look good beyond 65", unless you start cranking up the sharpness setting if there even is one. You definitely would need 4K per eye for that. Still, pretty tempted to try these out. I wonder how long it will take until we get >
*4K per eye
*Perfect FOV
*Integrated built in body anchor setting(Without needing to buy the Beam)
*Body Anchor Setting to max out at 120hz, rather than 72hz, and with no additional 'minimal' latency.
*Stereoscopic 3D (1080p per eye, until 4K per eye in 3D becomes a thing with 8K AR glasses.)
If Nintendo whipped out the following above with their own AR glasses, including stereoscopic 3D(Which is the big missing ingredient with OLED TV's), for their next console I'd actually be excited for pancake gaming again. It could be a super hybrid, ala > TV, Handheld, TableTop & AR. I don't think nintendo will jump on the VR bandwagon just yet until headsets transition over into thick glasses. Mario Kart 9 in VR would be the dream, AND would sell like hot cakes. ;)
Quick question: While connected to PS5 with the beam, can the beam increase the screen size of the PS5 that is displayed?
@80sHolic7 don't forget that you would also need the hardware to run games at 4k like you're asking
Indeed. It is best to wait one generation. Because then it will have adressed some thing that over time you will start to hate with this gen.
Also being able to adjust the width is very important. Only a few people have the head for the correct center of the lenses. If not the edges will be very blurry.
Great video. I've been really curious about this stuff because I love the idea of it but usually I get motion sickness. Stability looks great.
Nice glasses!!! if i had to choose one model , i'll choose the ones Nicole uses , she has a nice pair.
Best review of these so far. Thanks. I’m getting a pair for my birthday!
4:22 😄 I love the little sad face on the ( boo boo) band aid. Very good sense of humor Nicole! Awesome review MJ. They are very affordable and totally give the Ready Player One vibes. I can't wait to own a pair. Thanks MJC! 👍🏻
fantastic review MJR. Thanks a lot
Easily one of the coolest gadgets I’ve seen would love to test them out myself, I never thought I would see an actual product like this in my lifetime you can actually buy! 😳😳😀
I have had the first gen xreal airs and they've been amazing. I do have some minor issues but otherwise its been a great experience. If i was to make a recommendation try using them with the xbox 360 and ps3. The resolution is 1080p and since its two screens one for each eyeball the pixel density you see makes the fidelity look amazing.
I have the first Gen as well as the Beam. I use it mostly for watching streaming shows with my iPad. I found it to be kind of laggy while playing the Zelda games on Switch. But for other games on Switch, it’s great.
Great review just what I was looking for
I'm planning on flying over to the States next year, this would be perfect for the 12 hour flight! Glad it had the stabilization setting as I can be prone to motion sickness.
Love the track you chose to demo for listening to the sound. I salute you Sir and you taste in thrash that was some tastey riffage.
I was just looking at these online and sure as shit Mr Jesus Rocks pops off with an awesome review.
Amazing device. Thanks MJR, nice review!!! 🤘😎🤘
Not sad to see Nicole back... 😶🌫 And these things are surprisingly neat. I could see them being pretty useful when you're sharing a room with someone who wants the tv for something else when you want to play a game.
Nicole and William will be back soon. 😉
Forget William, more Nicole. Could we get her to review a game in a bikini? 😂
Great review, man. Im interested in these glasses
This is easily the best review of these glasses ive seen and ive been through most of them. Even went on to touch on the effects of motion sickness which I have had a problem with in the past. What I haven't seen is a detailed review of the use of AR glasses with high end desktop PCs (not laptop) as I am about due for a new monitor soon. I know you need a special cable which i have saved on my am.zon list but how good with these glasses be (or any other) with a desktop; would the GPU affect the video? I usually play ARMA 3 on extreme settings so would i see any issues with video? I dont have too much of a problem with going down from 4k to 1080p.
Nice review MJR! I feel like the price isn't quite there yet for me but this technology is starting to get really good.
Hey Jesus, this was a really cool device to learn about, thanx for sharing! Great and super interesting content as always
Honestly that seems like something we'd see in another 20 years. Thats pretty sick. AND yes id want my whole field of view filled up as well..
Actually there have been things like this around for years. LGR has a video on an early example of such a device and I seem to remember seeing Electronic Gaming Monthly talking about something similar as well.
It's just nowadays display tech has reached a point where the quality feels like it's no longer at early adopter levels (so having an image that close to your eyes appears crisp and you don't see low resolution artifacts from when devices like these used analog connections and could only output 720p at a simulated 100" display, which would look pretty spotty).
The future is now old man...
@@SolidSonicTHyou know thismoerson knows that right. You do realize this statement is not literal right? I'm autistic and I got that. Wow
@@alexandersalazar9750 Shut the hell up, I was actually surprised by how long wearable screens have been a thing.
Love your vids man 💯💯 i gotta order a pair
Great review! Are you planning on reviewing the new quest 3 vr headset? Thank you! 😊
Thanks great video, i really like those pro ones definitely something i could use, have a nice weekend 🤘
Thanks for watching!
ARE YOU ROCKEN WITH DOKKEN??. been watching you forever MJR Much love my man , always nice to see yah.
Breaking the chains around you
Nobody else can bind you
Take a good look around you
Now you're breaking the chains 🤘
awesome video sir. is it good for productivity usage? I mean use this xreal air 2 pro as monitor replacement.
I've seen a few reviews of these, but nobody has mentioned how well it fits and works with people with glasses like myself.
I should have mentioned there is an adapter in the box for prescription lenses. I should have mentioned that! Sorry.
I got the XREAL air 2 Yesterday and the BEAM today :) did the new firmware updates on both and I can say there is zero lag, i'm super sensitive to lag and if they were any I would notice, so great job XREAL pushing out updates.
Good to hear
I always enjoy your product reviews. Even just as background while I'm working. Any idea if using this kind of technology long term is bad for your vision?
Hi, richyriff. Our XREAL Air glasses get TUV certified. It will not harm the vision, please do not worry about it.
Man I love that this tech is still getting development. I have motion sickness issues with VR so AR is likely going to be the alternative in the future.
ALSO I remember when AR was first debuted and my first thought was how awesome would it be as a kid to play "the floor is lava" with this sort of thing.
Motion sickness is pretty easy to avoid in VR. Most people just use snap turning. If you are getting headaches when not moving, it's likely your IPD that needs to be adjusted.
@@snart usually not an issue with turning, but with moving forward in game.
I have the Nreal Air which is basically this, and it's not super comfy to position the glasses to the perfect viewing angle for screen positioning vs your eye. The nose piece is uncomfortable and the tethered feeling kinda sucks. That said they are handy to use with my phone when I feel like laying down without propping my phone/holding it. Thanks for the vid MJR.
I am slighty interested in these and have been a curious onlooker for a while now. I am not the biggest fan of handhelds these days due to discomfort. I like to find ways to play my handheld games on the big screen with my arms and neck relaxed but thats just me. So this does seem appealing but seeing as there arent really any dedicated handhelds these days maybe not.
Won't that bleed the steam decks battery faster than normal? Since it's using the deck as a power source. I wanted to get one since I travel a lot for work. Would see this as an alternative for my portable monitor and my multiple monitors at home. Love your content MJR, more pick-up vids please.
You definetely need a largr power-bank to go with it
Thanks for the review MJR knowing your a bigger guy I was wondering about the size of the glasses if they squeeze your head right above your ears also where’s the intro?
I’m wondering how well they fit/work for people with glasses.
Looks really cool to have a VR sunglasses while travel on the plane, playing your games screen in front of your eyes. I do play my Nintendo Switch, I have buy that device in dock mode. Awesome video👍, I bet it was tough for you to record footages.
Would you say for the price point that ar glasses like this are more worth it than vr at the moment? I know they aren't the same exact thing but both being immersive, and the glasses play more games or is vr just better?
That's cool, just imagine how these things are gonna be some years from now...
Getting there for me. Almost on the edge of wanting to splurge.
Still waiting for a more vr like option as well.
Love your video's. Quick super important question:
Q:You said that it takes about 46° of your vision and it doesn't take on your entire vision but with body anchor and smooth follow modes feature, you can freely adjust the screen distance and make it so that it does take on your entire vision right?
While connected to PS5 with the beam, can the beam increase the screen size of the PS5 that is displayed?
Nice review, thanks MJR!
I have the first version. I don't think you would really want them to fill your FoV any more, you lose the ability to look at the whole image - looking around a HUD, for example, would be very difficult.
There is always VR if you want immersive experiences.
Yeah, you are right...and the comparison to VR is a good one. It will be interesting to see how this evolves in the future... I suspect glasses will do BOTH.
That's what someone with the older model would say. Don't be broke and buy new things.
perhaps a small rotor, to expand/reduce image.
@alexandersalazar9750 lol extreme 'they live' glasses energy from your post brother. "Consume!"
I got these and for train rides, they are really really amazing. I feel like I am watching in a personal theatre. I highly recommend them, if you like to travel a lot.
With everyone saying the 46 degrees FOV limits the screen size you can see, how do you call it a personal theatre? Are we missing out on something?
I sort of see what they are getting at, only it's like you're in the furthest seats back from the screen at the cinema
Looks good way to pack & Go when travelling.. bring your own display with you..
Men u have no idea how much u videos help me i was living alone with ma loneliness and suicide toughts but u always make me smile and keep me entertaint so cool i live in colombia and i love u videos so much u the best HELL YEAH!
Thank you for the review. But do you think it will hurt the eye ball if I use it for 2 to 3 hours a day?
Will the speakers work well enough on a plane considering the ambient noise? Or is there a way you can connect your airpods to the glasses?
9:29 I get that. Im sitting 50 centimeters from an 85 inch tv because i wanted the same whilst playing games on my PC
Howdy MJR, 1st time here. The algorithm for these XReal Air 2 Pro has popped all the Reviews. I really enjoyed the review and Subbed. I purchased the Air 2 Pro a couple days ago and they should be here with the Beam Thursday. I have seen the screen size and diatance of the screen being adjusted. I assume that's only for apps in the Beam and the Nebula App? And the reviews of the Nebula App arent good? Anyway i am a Dex user and will be using this for productivity and hopefully You Tube, YT TV and Xfinity Stream Prime etc. I will sneek the Switch and Portable PS5 from the kids at some point. I traveled for 15+ 10 years ago and i can definitely seeing these being a must have. Just like the Bose Quiet Comfort Noise Cancelling Headphone where when they 1st came out! I am excited! Cheers!
I hqve been using Samsung VR in past which had oculous cinema for watching movies etc.
You could also change the cinema hall to a bedroom or on the moon surface theater.
Does these AR glasses have something like a cinema hall feature so you feel like you are sitting in a cinema hall?
Very cool. When price comes down a bit I’d be interested! Would it work for series x? Also I wish that stability feature was standard. Seems important
Yep! I played hours of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox Series X using the glasses just fine. Although if you are seriously considering it, get the Beam too. The stabilization is completely worth it.
@@MetalJesusRocks I love cyberpunk so I’d love to try this! I have 500 hrs in the game lmao.
@joeivo911 I'm replaying the game now, taking my time with a new Netrunner build and looking forward to wandering into the Phantom Liberty DLC soon.
@@MetalJesusRocks you will love it trust me
@@MetalJesusRocks not sure if you got the cat. My thing is every time I go to my apartment is to take a pic of my cat. It’s always ina diff spot and I love it lmao.
Looks really cool. I have a Quest 2 but I dont really have much time to mess with it. Why dont they implement the stabalization in vr headsets? That's the solution for people not getting that motion sickness. It doesn't bother me that much but the golf game I play when it's switching camera angles to show where the ball is going, you suddenly are like 200 feet in the air, instant quesy. I like how you explained it all, something I may consider getting.
I think the augmented reality glasses will do very well.
Not sure about this particular company, it all depends on who can stay afloat long enough for this to catch on.
I always thought that Google made a mistake to shut down their Glasses.
I hope some other company figures it out.
They were way to ahead of their time unfortunately
Grear review i wonder what the glasses and the system would be like on a older console with a split screen and two player would be sick if you😮 couldl play in co-op mode. Oh and could the glasses be over clocked at all?
Hi, robert. If the consoles come with more than one USB-C and also support DP output, then two glasses should be connected and working together.
Can we get some more information on the Beam?
My concern with it is that it has a 3.5hr battery life, in addition I've also heard that it's slow to charge and uses more electricity than it charges. Can you confirm this? Like let's say I wanted to replace my monitor(s) for my desktop or perhaps even my Switch for long periods at a time, is this possible without overheating or frying out the Beam?
7:06 interesting, is that the regular Switch Pro controller or the Faceoff Deluxe black camo one?
7:10 im sorry what?
I bought them but because I'm a glasses wearer the screen is really blurry. They have options for prescription lenses I believe but it's something to be aware of.
can you use it for productivity and do you need additional software on the device you are connecting to? Specifically can it be used in combination with a corporate laptop on which no 3th party software can be installed and even usb data transfer (usb sticks not allowed, mouse is allowed) is restricted?
What's the WaveRace style jet ski game you're playing in this video? Looks awesome!
Riptide GP: Renegade...same developers as Hydro Thunder!
Jason did you hear Valve just announced there oled versions of the steam deck I’m so excited
I just ordered one, I had the new Lenovo Legion Glasses which are kinda the same but lack specific features that the Xreal2 has and these are also cheaper. For example the Beam + the option to unplug the USB-C cable etc.
do you think it can replace monitor or tv? and can you adjust the brightness?
Wow thanks for the video. I didn’t think this would be something I’d want based off first sight of these. But after your review im sold. I’d love to play halo with these
Serious question, how is it for glasses wearers or did I zone out at that part?
Hi, Have you tried it with laptops? normal computer productivity! like browsing or office apps?
I only have on eye (left eye), I really want to try this.
DAMMIT!!!! I really want these now lmaoooo Great video Jason!
one thing that's super underrated about metal jesus reviews is that he will review products that are sent to him and he is very honest. he won't kiss their ass or nothing he will say the good and bad, unlike many youtubers who lie all the time
Hi, great video. What cable can you suggest to connect XBOX Series's HDMI to USB-c? Thanks in advance
Use the first version air with iPhone 15 pro max. USB-C makes it super easy and excellent experience, just like the Steam Deck. Also got the red magic adapter for Steam Deck, which allows for charging at the same time.
Hi Metal Jesus great review. I was just wondering if there is anyway to hook up and play a retro console to these(with adapters) with the beam or is it just playing retro games through the means of the steam deck or pc?
That's a good question. You'd need an upscaler/converter like the RetroTINK to get that old video to something like HDMI. And then you'd need a HDMI to USB-C cable...but once you do all that, I don't see why it wouldn't work just like every other device.
@@MetalJesusRocks awesome thanks for the help. I’m looking to buy one after I heard a lot of great things, I saw Riff’s review from Pixel Game Squad, was curious to see if you were going to put out a review video on it, glad you did, as I knew you were going to give an honest review/opinion on this product, I’m confident in buying this product just going to wait and see if there will be a Black Friday sale on their site when Black Friday rolls around.
Hi, peachfuzz. If the retro gaming console supports USB-C and DP output, then you can try to connect the glass and play the games. If not, then maybe you need a converter or adaptor to complete the connection, but we cannot ensure the performance.
These seem like one of those things that I agree are very cool and am tempted to get, but at the same time, I don't know how often I personally would use it.
@MetalJesusRocks hey what is that music that plays during 9:50 ive heard it somewhere before
I wear glasses, can you adjust the clarity/sharpness of the video output?
Having owned the first variant from last year, wait for these to be wireless, or buy the Xiaomi / other competitors using the same panels that ARE wireless.
Interesting tech, it's too much for me to spend, but one day when cheaper perhaps. Not sure I'd use then at home over a normal telly, but would be great for travelling and when staying away
I understand you may be to busy to read every question I want to know from anyone can these be used on a ps5 I collect retro and new games but exclusively playstation from 1 to 5?
Cool but can you do a color filter so the images are all red?
Asking for a friend...😅
Would like to see more about this used with a PC for productivity, not useless game playing.
Love these. I am a glasses wearer, but for these I will try contact lens..
The Switch needing to be in docked mode means this isn't going to work with a Switch Lite then correct?
If your already having to compensate the bulging size, the screen takes up the majority of the glass, and your required to plug in to power it on; you might as well convert it into a headset and remove the daily use glasses.
What is the game you're playing around the 11 minute mark? That looks awesome!
That is Riptide GP Renegade by the makers of Hydro Thunder. And yes, it rocks!
@@MetalJesusRocks Awesome! I have friends staying from out of town this weekend. We will check this out when we're not at the Metallica shows tonight and Sunday!
I'm looking into getting a pair of Viture XRs myself, mostly so my GPD Win 4 can have a portable screen (not even for gaming primarily, just productivity and browsing mostly).
Actually writing this comment from a plane so this would be useful right now, lol...
I'm definitely going to pick these up when they launch. I've been looking at them for a while.
How fast it drains battery of already limited Staem Deck battery? I mean ussualy u can play fom 3-5 hours in steam deck without charing, so with glasses it till be twice less now?
I noticed there was no mention, do these glasses support 3d playback?
Would this work on PC? For gaming? Id love to wear them in a spaceship cockpit and look around and have the sound and such. Nicole is easy on the eyes :)
RTX 20- series cards have a USB-C output so it's definitely possible with those. But Geforce removed that port for the RTX 30- series and up, so you'd need an adaptor and that Beam device to make it work with a newer card
And yes..., Nicole is a hottie :)
Hi, Daehawk. The XREAL Air glasses can work with the PC for gaming, which supports up to 120Hz and give you a good gaming experience.
Olá, esse óculos é compatível com Xbox Series X ?? Quais jogos são os melhores para usar esse óculos ?
Was thinking about picking these up instead of upgrading the steam deck to oled..
If you use a splitter instead of the puck, and have a 5 or 10 watt battery supply in one Y-end and you have the video source's HDMI-USB C plugged into the other Y-end (say from a PS5), will this remove the latency added from previously using the puck to supply power and video (video as a through-put on the puck)? I'm wondering if the Y splitter would solve the latency problem for competitive games?
The latency has nothing to do with power supply. Also, a gadget like you describe already exists, which is pretty much absolutely necessary if you were to use this thing for long stretches of time.
Hi!
Can xreal air 2 pro work fine with SD using usb-c HUB/docker to power them same time?
Was looking at these. I managed to get Xbox games pass on my oculus quest 2 but the resolution is poor. What is the resolution like on these?
Awesome Vid!! Thx MJ!! BUT....I wear prescription glasses. Has anyone tried them while wearing their glasses?? If so, how is the comfort level?
Hi, Mighty. The package includes a lens frame, allowing you to visit an optical store and have your own prescription lens inserted. Once you have obtained your prescription lens, simply reinsert the frame into the glasses for optimal viewing.
Using a Quest 3 and Virtual Desktop you can get that REALLY HUGE screen feeling....Had the Xreal Air and not sure why they touted 200-330" screen...it looked mainly as big as my TVs from where I used them....but its a lot easier to just plug the Airs into a Deck or Go rather than the Quest and then needing the Virtual Desktop streaming app on the device/PC.
@MrAxelStone, what size of tv would u compair the screen size of the xreal air to be? 55,65,75inch or more?
My first thought was, does it work with glasses? You mentioned some sound bleed. Can other people hear what you're doing? I'm assuming you could play videos on it too, not just game content.
Correct. You can watch CZcams, Netflix, etc...and yeah, the audio can be heard by somebody sitting on the couch right next to you...but it's not bad actually because I think the speakers are so close to your ears. And there is nothing stopping you from using Bluetooth earbuds or regular headphones from your phone or console either.
Hi, seanc. You can take the included lens frame to the optic store and get your own prescription, after that reinsert it to the XREAL glass for use. And about speaker sound, it depends on what level of volume you set. Generally, playing games or watching videos will not be heard by others.
I bought prescription lens inserts for around $65 from Honsvr, easy to install and totally worth it.
They are cool for sure. But the jumble of wires is a no go for me. Was thinking of getting the Ray Ban smart glasses though.
How much more of your FOV was filled when you increased the size to 330 with the beam?
Hi, clint. It depends on the distance of the virtual screen. If you adjust the distance to 10 meters, then the full FOV should be covered.
