  • Testing a Co-Op mission on Sangin v.4 with HAL NR6+ and Drongo's Map Population (DMP) mods. One of the most satisfying outcomes I ever had!

      It is indeed an amazing mod and Drongo keeps updating and expand it. Also Drongo is an extremely helpful and humble person! I highly recommend joining his Discord Server and trying out his other mods!
      Thank you for the comment mate!

    What modules from DMP did you use to complement HAL?

    • @arismagicgr
      @arismagicgr  Před rokem +3

      Well @AtlasTheCarry, it has been a long time since I made this mission and it was made mostly for me to acquire some mission making skills and check the mods out so I whatever I state here it will probably be things that I have on top of my mind!
      As far as I remember, I used to use the Civilian module from DMP to add civilians on the map and with some scripting, I had score points deducted and some penalties for the players (or even if I hadn't manage this back then, that was the plan). I believe that I used to use Suicide Bombers module too although for my set up and the way I wanted the whole mission to get played (the idea was to make a (P&E)vEv(P&E) mission framework), it wasn't really fit since the bombers were spawning only at the start of the mission and I would prefer them to spawn periodically! Other than that, I can't really remember anything else that I was using from DMP.
      Although I haven't manage to achieve that in the mission of this video, later on, on other missions and when I became a bit better at scripting, I managed to "link" Sectors from Vanilla Sector Control mode with NR6 HAL Commanders' Simple Objectives so the AI Forces will match players' efforts. And in my "framework" I used to use Respawn Tickets as "currency", so I scripted it this way so players will EARN Respawn Tickets from controlling Sectors instead of bleeding enemy tickets!
      Hope that I helped a bit here mate and I answered your question. Whatever you need, you can also find me at Discord by the "name" A. Ares#3160 . Feel free to send me all your questions there as it would be easier for me to answer them there! Cheers mate. Take care, have fun, ArmA as much as you can and remember: Take cover and return fire!

    I have DMP and i've been curious about HAL since i've seen it. How long does it take you to make a fun mission to play/do you think it's worth playing singleplayer.

    • @arismagicgr
      @arismagicgr  Před 2 lety +2

      HAL is an amazing mod with huge potential. I haven't messed with the idea of Single player with HAL but it is really easy to create a small mission with only a handful of squads and objective to play with! I would recommend to make a small mission with HAL with two opposite side commanders so they fight each other and you try and help your side "win the war". I believe that it is going to worth your time!

    How did you set this up? I've used Drongos stuff for some time but just got into using HAL NR6, 4600hrs in ARMA3 and jumping back on the learning curve haha.

      @arismagicgr  Před 2 lety +2

      Well mate, I have almost 6,000 hours in ArmA 3 alone and I am just learning basic scripting! So, I believe that I will be an eternal noob! :) :P
      Well, about the mission, I used MOSTLY "NR6+ HAL Evolved" mod and "Drongo's Map Population" (DMP) mod to make it work. It needs some time to experiment and set everything up. I tried to some other things in there with side scripting (like linking Vanilla Sector Control mode Sectors with HAL's objectives but I failed in this video, managed it in later tries in one of my other missions). I highly recommend that you join the Official Discord Servers of both mods as you can find a ton of people there that are willing to help and is way easier to communicate there than here.

      Hey there mate! To be honest this is a pretty old mission that I made to test some things out and this video was uploaded mostly to let some friends see the progress of my tests. So, I will answer what I actually remember, which means that the info may be inaccurate!
      If I remember correctly I had 4 HAL Simple objectives with friendly forces being outnumbered but with better equipment and assets (BLUFOR had armored humvees and OPFOR had technicals). Also, if I remember correctly, at least BLUFOR had mortars (but it is possible OPFOR had too but less tubes). I used HAL NR6+ to spawn and control both sides and I used Drongo's Map Populatio (DMP) to spawn ambient stuff like civilians, IEDs, Suicide Bombers etc. and to control weather and skill lever for both BLUFOR and OPFOR (in a later version I also tested Surrender/Moral module or DMP but I don't have a recording of it).
      My intention was to try and "connect"/"link" HAL NR6+ Simple Objectives with ArmA 3 Sector Control mode's Sectors! And use the sectors as objectives. And my idea was in a later version to use sectors as a way to earn respawn tickets which in turn I was going to use as currency. I managed to do the last part in this mission: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2594370673
      You can also check the whole mission set-up by downloading the actual mission here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2535912325
      Please read the mission description on Steam Workshop page of the mission for more details for both missions.
      And try contacting me on Discord ( A. Ares#3160 ) for whatever else you may need mate!
      Hope that I helped a bit.
      Cheers!

      @@glazedshades4692 it is under
      Options -> Game -> General
      and it is called "Aiming Deadzone"... It is a slider that will just adjust how much of this "effect" you will get. It can become tricky to throw grenades with it (and with ACE even more) but it is a pretty nice thing since it minimizes your movement when you want to do some small adjustments to your aiming. I believe that it can become a good addition to PvP too. Can also be tricky though when aiming down the scope but you can get used to it. This is how I play! :)

      @@arismagicgr i have a little question, is there any way to blacklist some type of unit to dont let HAL use them? I want to HAL do not take the control of the HVT's placed by DMP

    • @arismagicgr
      @arismagicgr  Před 2 lety +1

      @@jerepaez7229 There is indeed. You have to script it in the DMP module that spawns the HVTs. I don't really remember the code that will exclude it from HAL's control but my take for the rest is an "if" statement that will check the "typeOf" or something exclusive for the unit (the rank for example) and if it returns true to execute the code to exclude the unit from HAL's control. I believe that I answered the same question on HAL's discord some days ago. I don't know if it was you that asked that or someone else but I highly recommend you join HAL's Official Discord and a lot of people (including Rimmy) that will help you with this (and probably many more) issue(s) there. Otherwise, please contact me on Discord for more detailed solution since from here it is pretty hard to solve this!
