    I've been wanting to do this FOREVER. So I recently bought a 36v e bike from Amazon, with a smaller 350w motor. It comes with a 7.5ah battery but since it's 36v I can modify it with two 6ah 40v Ryobi batteries

      It work great for my built, the Ryobi 40v are really 36v anyway. Just wired them in parallel with the right wire gauge and you are good to go

    Did you have to make modifications to the controller to run 40ah ryobi batteries? Was your kit made for 36v or 48v or does it really matter? Thinking I could use a Ryobi battery for a spare on my homebuilt e bike...

      The controller is 48volt but the Ryobi work just fine
      Ryobi 40 volts battery are really 36 volts (10S4P)

    I'm trying to figure out if you wire the batteries in series or parallel, are you putting 40 volts or 80?

    I’m wondering if your canoe repair using #4 plastic bags from about 6 years ago has held up?

      That canoe was sold a few years ago, at that time the repair patch was holding in place very well but the pastic layers were slowly coming apart at the top of the patch from water infiltration.

    Question ⁉️ in a bumpy road , potholes, how is possible not to drop the batteries , they dont get out of place?

    • @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox
      @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox  Před 4 měsíci

      So far so good…The battery snap into place, you have to press a tab to remove them. Same as a Ryobi lawnmower or snowblower

    So you made a 40v 12Ah battery kit, how long does it last ? my 48v 13Ah Hailong battery lasts about 36-40km with a 500watts rear hub bafang motor (mostly riding at 30km/h, for a 25km/h avg.)

      Thank you for your interest of the video, I honestly always drive full throttle between 36 and 40 km\h and average 16 to 20 km. I am sure I could do better if a limit my speed, the battery are light and portable so I carry 2 extra one to extend my range

    I wanna do this but I don't know jack shit about electrical or anything. But I've got plenty of ryobi 40v batteries already, would you be willing to show me like how yo make that 2 battery parallel thing u made some time? Cuz that's a great idea

    Did you go with a 36 or 48 volt throttle? I would like to do something similar but I’m confused what volt to use with the 40 volt Ryobi battery

    • @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox
      @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I use the 48 volt kit from Golden Motor, originally my bike conversion was with a 48 volt battery… then I swap to the 40V Ryobi and everything works fine

      @@JoeBakerOutsideTheBoxI wonder if I could add a second battery adapter and run Ryobi 40v as a range extender...?

    What throttle option did you pick from golden motors?

    • @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox
      @JoeBakerOutsideTheBox  Před 5 měsíci

      Personally I like the thumb throttle over the wrist type…although the one included in the kit is ok but a bit crude
