ABOUT PAPADAKIS RACING:
The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2015 title with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as backto back championship titles with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008. The Rockstar Energy Drink / Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the latest competition build from the Hawthorne, California, based team.
Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front-wheel drive, tube-chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-wheel drive when he campaigned a Honda Civic that became just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club - Auta a dopravní prostředky
i like how everything straight to the point and no BS
kinda makes the wait worth it all...just wish theyd upload more frequently
0 fluff
@@technicalthug Yip, youtube creators are now doing what discovery, natgeo & history channels did, cater to the lowest common denominator...
This is the ultimate CZcams car channel
hell yeah man.
This channel is the bench mark for all car performance modification videos on youtube.
bad obsession motorsport is also pretty in depth
I subscribed I'm on board
There are other great channels, but this channel is much more professional and has better production. Win win
This isn't modding any more. They're building a whole new car.
You should also check out Moto IQ. Very informative and straight to the point
Supra assembly line worker seeing this video: "dammit I JUST put those parts in there!!!"
Lmao.
TMR should have sent just welded frame ....
Lol
I LOVE how he explains everything. He makes everything so cut and dry, it’s amazing. Thank you for doing this for us Papadakis!
Σκεφτόμουν ακριβώς το ίδιο πράγμα.
Καλημέρα από Ελλάδα, καταπληκτική δουλειά.
Good job, Team! Can’t wait to test this thing!!
You'll love it for sure. Pedal to the metal. Good luck man.
I can't wait for you to take down the streak of James this year! Best of luck Fredric
Mangler bare en til Rudskogen nå!
Can’t wait till the day someone wins and event and low key flex “o I won this round with a/c on to”😂
Best wishes for you, Steph and the whole Papadakis Racing Team crew in the coming season of FD! 🔥
You: tear down brand new car
Me: too cheap to buy a few cordless drill motors for a project
Other channels: make 50 episodes of ghetto ass modifications to a car, with little to no important information.
Papadakis: Let's start in this episode, next one we're going testing
That's the difference between having budget and experience.
Sam Crac has entered the chat
Of course papadakis yt channel is just side/fun work for him as he's funded by big sponsors. Getting extra cash on top of the work you have already paid for to do must be nice 😂
@@ardijanuar2036
Ye, he doesn't have to show us anything, yet he does. Which is highly appreciated atleast by people like myself, who's building my own driftcar. I'm nowhere near the budget, toolset or knowledge that Papadakis Racing has available, but it's cool to take a bit here and there which I can apply to my own car and build.
Whereas certain other youtubers, should crawl back to the hole they came from, as they're utter useless, both as mechanics, and as content creators 😂
@@jamesgand828 just because you budget is low, doesn't mean you have to make some ratchet ass build. Neither does it mean you should go forward as a guy who knows everything, and thus giving away tonnes of bad/false information on different subjects.
Top example I remember on top of my head was a youtuber with a fair amount of subs, who went out and said that adding excessive amount of negative camber (stanceboi amounts) was best way to get more grip for your driftcar.
I watched a couple of videos before I realised he was dead serious about that 😂
This would have been a years worth of content and a failed project on any other channel
Some car repair shops take a while just to fix some regular problem, lol.
It may be because these guys are a heavily funded race team first, and youtuber second.
@@ernestjorda2777 True, I assume they have a small team assigned to this vehicle full time. And a budget 10x the average joe.
Hahahaha
The difference between someone making a living from CZcams and someone just doing it for fun...
"Omg! You did this to a brand new car!" Lol excited to see the final product!
@Al Castill yes because that's just a frame. 👏 🤦♂️
Nice BMW!
Sensei Papadakis does it again! Racing GOAT
I would like to say one thing. THIS GARAGE IS SO CLEAN, I LOVE IT ! Instead of looking at supra I was looking at floor and I was asking myself, how the heck it's so clean :O
Man these videos make me really appreciate two things.
1. The amount of resources (time and energy) that goes into designing and building the OEM car.
2. The amount of resources it takes to tear it all down and make a race car.
Amazing work!!
“ 2020 Supra destroyed in minutes” haha 😂
It's just on a diet 😅
s14sean and afterwards it shall be called phoenix !! lol
It's just on her crash diet :)
It was never really a Supra.
@@foam27 thanks captain obvious
This is the content we need we need more like this channel amazing simply amazing
Check out "uncle Tony's garage" on CZcams. He is old school drag racing.
This is why I don't have a cable subscription.
Very straight forward. This is how other tuners and youtubers should do their videos. Every details were explained thoroughly without unnecessary and nonsense talk. Great job as always!
One of the best car related channels out there 👍 every video decently edited and well explained, no BS talk
YES!!!! I thought this is where this was going!! I can't wait to see this in person at FD events!!!
i love how your building a full on race car from scratch but still taking off the springs like some kid with a 1,6 civic hes putting lowering springs on
I've done it for years that way on my mk1/2 vws , except I sit down on the floor and place the strut bearing against my feet.
Safer than having shit fly in all directions
The best car build video format. Straight to the point, very informative and zero bullshit!
The only channel that worth watching. Stephan definitely knows what he’s doing
i'd loose my mind having a car down to this point!
This is the first channel I’ve turned notifications on for. Love the content and can’t wait to see more!
Always Love these videos, thank you for your time
Love your videos. Concise, informative, no typical youtube BS.
this is dope! cant wait to see how fredi and the mk5 performs in FD this season!
Fredric Aasbo - FD Champion 2020!
Great video! Straight to the business, no extra talking! Waiting for next episodes!
01:35 Damn, that's really makes me sad :-(
OMG, what a teaser. I hope the subsequent videos are longer. Let the camera's run. I absolutely love this project, cannot get enough!
This could have been a 2 hour episode and I would have watched every minute!!!
Best car builder on the planet hands down... PERIOD!
I have 2020 Supra. This was "like totally"...awesome. Seriously, the video was made to order for an engineer that loves performance autos. You are very impressive and informative. I appreciate that, thank you !
Lolol I love how he most likely did that suspension bit as a gag 😂 great stuff!
That's how we did it in the 90's lol
Mr. P: Seriously...dont try this at home
Me: goes out and tries it immediately.
I've done it for years that way on mk1/2 vws, except sit down and plant the strut bearing against your feet so it all flies one way.
For the life of me I cant figure out why people hit the Thumbs down on this video. Great work. Cant wait to see the rest of the build process!
Big Papa Steph and the crew back at it! I love watching your builds, so in depth I always learn something new!
Yessssss! I knew it! This is awesome! Can't wait to see it finished!
Anyone else at this stage: yeah I got a project car it'll be done by next season maybe
Papadakis: yeah it's stripped, by the time editing is done it'll be a roller
Pure content, no filler. Not a second wasted.
I love the way you break all of it down so even someone who knows very little about cars can understand.
today it has been on of the saddest day of my life, that being said i love your videos and keep it going hopefully i'll be able to go to your events.
Hope things get better for you
4:08 - you know you done too many race car, when your mind just programmed to say "anti-lag" instead of "anti-lock" XD
RDS Alphard good catch🤣🤣🤣
I heard lock.
RDS Alphard get rid all that wax in your ears.😅😅😅
I heard anti-lag system
arif khamar I heard “lock” with my Bose Soundport.
This is amazing! Love how quickly you get through everything but still explain it all!
I find it crazy how you guys can just dismantle an entire car and throw the parts in piles without extensive organization or labeling. Shows the insane amount of experience you have in car building.
I would love to see how the car and the b58 holds up at the track
Better than your shitbox
I think its gonna hold up great. They are using a race transmission so that pretty much fixes the only weakness big power mk5 guys have had
It won't
5:15 "Seriously don't try this at home"
me: hey that looks like a cool shortcut, might have to use that next time I work on suspension! lol
Patrick94GSR same
You can also leave the strut installed in the mount, remove the top nut before you remove the 3 nuts that hold the assy in place, and it will fall out harmlessly under the car.
Works fine , I used to do it that way all the time. Except it's actually a little safer if you sit down and place the strut bearing against your feet , so everything flies one way instead of all directions.
Genuinely, it is the most content packed channel in the whole YT. Well done!
Great video and detail on the build Stephan! Cant wait to see you dominate again bro :)
"Parts pile: We not gonna use" -- Must be relabel of "Parts pile: Forgot where these goes".
They could sell it for when the mk5 gets some hard following.
well i guess it already has.
Get the guard back on that grinder before you lose a finger!!!
Totally fascinating! Thanks for showing us this. It’s a real eye opener into the construction of the Supra.
Another great video ....thanks so much for taking the time to make it !
Nice, i love your work!👌😍 Maybe this is just a silly question, but why can't you guys ask a bare body/chassis from Toyota?
from body to engine is all made by BMW not toyota ~
@Gossip Heart No, do you? Also companies do sell kit cars, so this would not exactly be breaking new ground.
Generally speaking, auto manufacturers don’t supply bodies-in-white very often. The cost savings to strip the production car down are more than offset by the cost of stopping down the production line at the body-in-white stage to pull a chassis. It’s typically more practical and cost-effective to have the team take on the labor.
@Gossip Heart No i don't. But it is not a street car, so it would never be registered right? So why does it matter? And are they not sponsored by toyota?
@@penonton4260 I know that, but this car is still owned by Toyota. You think that the whole car from electrical harness, pistons, bearings, tires to suspension is made by one factory?!? That would be crazy to think that. But i do agree that it is a shame that a lot (or too much) of parts were not made by Toyota...
sup papadakis :D
Your videos have always been on point for quality, entertainment value, duration n content wise.... four thumbs up...
For some reason, I can never skip forward on his videos... Well done again! Love this channel :)
Is there any Toyota in the car? Everything seems to have a BMW logo on it.
no kidding. will be in the BMW shop for expensive repairs when warranty runs out
Lol the badge on the front
Anti lag braking system ahahah never heard of it before. 😂
PS. I know it was a small error
heard it as Lag too, but Lock and Lag might sound similar in different accents. I for sure know this dude will not make a small error like that lol
U might heard “anti luck” as well or anything else if you have 🍌 in your 👂🏻
@@Hanschepu He said lock. He just said it fast and kind of lazily. I have an American accent and it's pretty obvious to me.
@@CoDisafishy I meant, that Lock sounds like Lag depending on accent, I know it obviously was ABS, just that I also heard it as lag.
@@Hanschepu In his accent, which is the same as mine, the two words sound different. He just said it fast.
I enjoy this video. Its fast paced yet informative and accessible.
Great work! Can't wait. Appreciate your attention to detail.
"Made already a thousand HP with the stock engine"
Imagine all the kids saying this engine was shit because its not a 2jz and its Bmw
It wasn't a stock engine, it was pretty significantly modified. With the same mods, the 2JZ can make significantly more power than the B58.
@@PistonAvatarGuy it really dident have a lot done to it pistons and rods thats it...
@@PistonAvatarGuy pistons rods head intake and turbo is not that significant
@@WearyKirin It is when the 2JZ can make something like 500 hp more with the same mods.
@@PistonAvatarGuy Stop being a fanboy and just admit that the B58 is good. The 2JZ was made for modifications, the B58 is just a mid/high level BMW engine who wasn't made thinking about modifications.
Anyone else heard “antilag braking”?
Absolutely love these videos. No faffing about, just straight in, get it done, straight out. 👍👍👍
This is some serious content and build.
These guys are at the top of their game
😄 wow never realized how much crap in modern cars it's crazy just the wires alone its alot the car is on life support.
All of the safety devices and electronic stuff add all the unnecessary weight. We don't need that in a racecar, because if we die, we die happily 😂
@@gonzalooliveraalves What a really shitty thing to say bud.
@@kagenlim5271 Why?
4:07 "Anti-lag" Braking System huh?
He said lock
@@worldwithoutbass Apparently a lot of people think he said lag. I heard lock too.
As usual! Clean, crisp work always done right at papadakis racing. I'm not sure other teams go as far as you guys to achieve a desired result. Much respect. I can't fathom putting all of that back together haha. It's so interesting to see the process though, i can't get enough. Thank you for the videos.
I love the step-by-step format. Look forward to more videos!
Toyota: We designed it to be race oriented sports car.
Race team: time to throw the whole car away and build a race oriented car.
Toyota: Am I a joke to you?
Isn't that how racecars based on production cars are done? Get rid of the fluff, in goes the good stuff.
It's a BMW.
This channel is GOLD.
This is gonna be sick Steph !! Looking forward for more future videos leading up the the final product.
Thanks for taking the time to make this interresting serie and share it
Man I haven't been this excited for a series of videos on youtube for a while! Can't wait for the next one

Absolute mad lads cant wait to see how the car is going to look when its finished.
Amazing stuff! Keep the videos coming!
I've been looking forward to this one. Everybody involved with this car is insanely talented. The tech used to modify the block in that first video was astounding. Right on the bleeding edge of manufacturing.
You guys work so clean
very watchable edit - Thank you and keep up the good work. Greetings from denmark.
No matter which way you look at it, that's a lot of work and dedication👌
