Look on the bright side. You’re not in an attic changing out an evaporator fan motor. Life is good.
Totally correct.
The helicopter blades were turning on this call. lol what a crazy story from the helicopter man.
I love how the man tells the story of how his friend was blown up while Curtis is working on the unit. Curtis is too polite!
Great job, Curtis. Some Homeowners would have said it’s time to Recycle it. Persistence by a Highly Experienced HVAC Tech pays off.. Great 50-minute video. 👍
You’re right about that Curtis, Vets have to learn all kinds of different anatomy’s while doctors only need to learn 1. Great job with this unit.
Not just one two and the second one is more complicated it's called a woman
@@moshemoshe-yy8hj 🤣🤣🤣 You’re not lying.
Also animals can't tell you what's wrong with them.
@@billkunert7281 nor will they be contacting their attorney about malpractice.
And the human body is still on Rev 1.0. :-)
A Brown out is very hard on windings.
you change more fan motors than anyone else in the industry... you should get the golden fan award at the annual hvac emmy's. dude should just ask the customer the model and pickup a fan for it on the way to the job site to save the trip back.
When we quit learning they're probably burying us.
Your camera recorded some pretty high-quality audio. I was about to walk outside to see who was bumping their bassmobile in my driveway, before I realized it was a car driving by in your video!
well done Curtis, due to those fan repairs 👍 Au
Sounds like lightning may paid them a visit. Odd reading on the condenser motor. That turned out to be an expensive repair! Good job on the repairs
Never though to use the hard carboard as a stand. Nice
The quickest way to get carpal tunnel is to use your hand as a hammer! Impact driver would be a better option.😊
Most techs around here install surge protectors on their units at new installs as well as routine maintenance
I'm digging the wide-angle, segment and agree there should be more. Move the horse blinders Curtis. LoL
Mama always said HVAC is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get.
Keep up the great work Curtis.
Wide angle view is ok. Rather have the old look that is a bit closer view so we can see more detail.
I have seen a power surge fry motors like that but only when the breaker feeding the unit is to large, example the equipment info states 40amp max breaker but it's being fed with a 60 amp
Wider view seems good to me!!
Stanley makes some excellent crescent nwrenches which are fairly tight and hold their settings very well. Their 6 inch at Amazon is less than $16. Might make it easier getting those fan blade fasteners loose.
Remember when an electric motor would run for 50 years... even if you never oiled it. And surges never phased them.
Such a motor could be made today if folks were willing to pay for it. They are not, so "good enough" motors at prices that consumers will sit still for are used.
Thanks. Keep looking at that window trim and thinking paint. :) I see the note that it's being remodeled.
Great job Curtis!
Love your videos!!
Glad you like them!
Curtis, I bet you could change those motors blindfolded. You have probably have changed many in your sleep. A surge could do it, but probably not. One may have been hanging by a thread and just sitting up may have finished it off. Nice work
You don't see that many package units around here the only one I knew of was the house next door which was being used as a Small Animal Hospital and they had one.
Thank you for the video that is quite the ordeal sometimes things that you get into good job
Ole Ted wouldn't have used a wheel puller 1st time I've seen 2 bad motor's on the same unit ... Good job & good vid Curt ... Thx
Thanks
rheem blower caps always good
You have the best tools and work neatly.
This is true but seen plenty of lost compressors and condenser motors still going from brown outs that I new were brown outs as I said don't assume in hvac ours is not to wonder why but to fix thier sh** and get on to the next catastrophe it's cooling seson baby buckle up 😂❤😅😊
Great work curtis 👍
Thanks 👍
Least it didn't take out the compressor as well!
Hey Curtis, man you can use your service valve wrench for those set screws on the blower wheels and the pullers. 10 times easier than wrestling with the crescent wrench. Hope it helps buddy
I would lose the crescent wrench and use the correct open end box wrench. Those adjustable wrenches always have a tendency to adjust themselves
“Could a voltage surge have cause this damage?” - are you referring to the bad motors or the motor mouth? 😂
I'd rather be bothered by barking dogs than a motor mouth.
Nope dog much worse.. it just is
@@peter-pg5ycno. You’re just wrong or just a motor mouth
Nice work Curtis.
Thanks!
Great job,Curtis!
That guy was talking about the schooling it takes to become a vet vs being a doctor. He forgot a doctor has to put in 3 or more years in a hospital residency progarm after all the schooling. Vets don't.
Paying particular attention to there spelling also...😁
Hey you ever consider using those jack hammer handheld drills to get those motors off? I saw Ted cook do it once looks alot faster
I hope there's metal air ducts in the crawl space or that could be another problem.
Most likely not a surge (which would have fried the control board if it was strong enough to take out both motors) but more likely one of two things: One, an extended brownout or two, spiders got into the windings of the motors and shorted them out.
Would agree probably not a surge but in hvac first rule don't rule out any thing and if a brown out why not the compressor to witch is most aseptable to brown outs best advice is wat curtis is doing don't over think it replace wats wrong check all tolerances and go home relax and have a beer
@@JimAlderson-cn6ek Why not the compressor? Because it has a built-in overload, wheres the blower and condenser motors usually don't. Yes, it is more susceptible but it will cycle on and on with the overload, as the other two won't, they'll sit there and cook.
It is best to renovate at night. Ihelped renovate once atnight then did my regular job as well. All so my family had a nice house. Of course she got it in the divorce later.
Did you check the heat exchanger since you pulled out the blower and easy to look?
Yes
Wider view is nice
😎👍
Hey Curtis, how many times have you walked into that hitch ball ?😁
That video is not long. Some of the other channels I watch have videos well over an hour and a half. I get an hour for lunch I like a long A video gets me through my lunch.
I like that View
👍👍👍
That's an expensive repair.
Yes it was
What camera are u using?..your videos are great
Jeez, there's nothing worse than a helicopter talking about things no one wants to hear. No wonder you listen to metal, Curtis. You gotta blow that bs outta yer head!🤘😎👍
Hey, did you know that your Service wrench will match the fan hub bolt the squarehead bolt on the fan hub. I use that for many years.
I meant to say they said screw on the fan hub will work with your Service wrench. Makes it a whole lot easier.
I meant to say the set screw on the fan hub will work with your Service wrench. Makes it a whole lot easier.
Blew one of his arms clean off. 😂🤣😂🤣
My neighbors unit failed after power surge.
Do you get paid by the hour or the job?
Would it have cheaper to use the motor out of that guy's mouth?
From the looks of that unit it needs to be replaced. How many years does this unit have left two four?
Having to stand on either side of that trailer hitch would get old with me very fast. Don't know how you do it.
A2L… another bit of stupidity
The helicopter definitely does NOT! I repeat…duzz knot!!! Work a job that requires your hands(unlike his buddy). Change my mind. Heeeeee
We all know one. You either talk about or you do it. Sadly too many men nowa days talk. Testosterone may be obsolete by 2030.
You could cook a steak on that grill. Just sayin.
