I love these, Tom's take on star trek episodes are amazing. I can only imagine him watching deep space 9...
Imagine his surprise when Worf actually wins all the fights. Including that one episode where he defeats a whole army of Jem'Hadar in hand to hand combat all by himself.
I especially liked the bit where Picard hired all those bounty hunters to track down Han Solo
Bring me Solo... and the Tribble.
Calling it "the cool jacket" just feels right
Yeah, I think Patrick wore it because the regular uniforms were wrecking his spine, so it was either quit or wear a cool jacket
@@iainwmacintosh aren't the uniform just shitty leotards?
Why would or hurt his back
@@iainwmacintosh yeah cause Gene was a mad man that needed the uniforms to be creaseless so it got him a uniform that hurt
Funny how much Tom is into Star Trek now - something that a lot of his friends enjoy - after all those years of resistance 🤣
Resistance is futile
At this point, we just need a weekly podcast!
The "Data saved a kid and the kid pretends to be an android" is the only episode of TNG that I skipped, because it came immediately after the Alexander episode and I was bored with the "character is unexpectedly a parent" trope.
It takes a lot to make a stew! A pinch of salt and laughter too
A scoop of kids to add the spice, a dash of love to make it nice, and you got
TOO MANY COOKS
It's worth a watch. It's better than the Alexander eps easily.
Please keep doing these star trek update vids, I love em 🙏
Surprised people in their 30s didn't remember Ashley Judd. She was pretty big back in the late-90s/early 2000s.
Edit: Just got to the hologram deep fakes part...I'm sure that it will never come up again and involve any Romulans at all...now I'm just off to the tailor's for some new pants.
Just make sure you don't let slip anything spicy while the tailor is hemming your pants.
Tbf all the films are pretty B-list
@@jfolz oh no there's cumin my pants
Darmok helped create my favorite words only meme: "Leo, his glass raised."
I remember a tweet about how Darmok was basically a society where they communicated in text based memes and everyone was replying with memes in that context.
“Philip J Fry, his fist full of money”
I really hope Tom watches Deep Space 9 after he finishes TNG and can tough out the first 3 seasons
The first three seasons of DS9, while not as good as the later seasons, are still a hell of a lot better than TNG's first two seasons. Early DS9 is still mostly above average. And he absolutely should watch it, DS9 is the best Trek series imo.
"This Quark character reminds me so much of Lewis!"
First 3 seasons of DS9 are far easier to get through than the first 2 seasons of TNG, or the first 2 seasons of Voyager. Particularly with episodes like Duet, the introduction of the Nagus and Kai Wynn, the development of O’Brien and Bashir’s friendship. They actually set up a lot of stuff that’s important contextually, and at its worst, it’s only distictly average. Unlike TNG’s first two seasons, which are perfectly skippable (with one or two good episodes here and there) and Voyager’s first two seasons which are BORING, both being also actively bad rather than just kinda ‘meh’.
@@SoybeanGravy DS9's first episode is legitimately really good.
Should he watch DS9 or Voyager first after TNG?
Someone's got to use their gowron impressions for a thumbnail. In fact, when they photograph the yogs for their proper thumbnails, one prompt should definitely be just "gowron"
its funny how i accidentally have watched this series in the same rate as tom so i know exactly what he is talking about
Shaka when the walls fell
i love getting all my star trek info from jimbo jizm
Something that shows the friendship that Tom and Ben have: Tom didn't react at all to "gotta cut off his brain dingus"
I don't care about Star Trek.. tried 25-ish years ago and just couldn't get into it.. but man, listening to those two talking about it.. :)
darmok predicted meme based communication.
I haven't laughed that hard in a while tahnk you
Haaha the step-mother part.. daaamn..!
The traveler was in like... The second episode Tom. The second episode.
I love that theyre joking about Riker hooking up and abusing his power with ensign Ashley Judd when in real life she was literally Weinsteined
The darmok episode is like a bad version of the sg1 'what fate omoroca' episode
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the Romulan plan was completely idiotic, I think it’s established that Vulcan has billions of people on it, as well as is in the federation. At worst, the 2000 romulans are going to be a minor nuisance if they arn’t just nuked from orbit when they land. On top of that, the chances that no body thinks “huh, why are three ships of the people we’ve been in a Cold War with for centuries coming into our territory unescorted?” are so remote. Like what did they think would happen?
If they were disguised as diplomats, I assume they were planning on meeting important leaders at the capitol or some other important place. In which case, 2000 soldiers would be enough to hold down a complex or small city and keep hostages for long enough to wreak chaos, and possibly bring in reinforcements.
@@LunarRocketeer viva la revolution!
There was a mind rapist in star trek? That's fucking horrific
Imagine Tom watching Star Trek: Discovery. I would hope for a total demolition
