- I hope you enjoyed my day in the life a college student studying math/stats! This channel is about my journey through academia, starting from a bachelor's degree to professorship. Thanks for watching & I hope you have an awesome rest of your day :)
Okayy purr Sithija! Super cool vlog
Ahhhh!!! Loved the video! My first reaction was actually having to stop it midway to gawk because you’re actually living the college life I dream of (now, as a high school student). As a junior, I’m really trying my best to find the things I love the most before I have to stick with it in application letters and in family conversations lol. I love math and though I’m more than aware it’s not gonna be as easy as high school classes (AP or not), I’m okay with that! I’m excited to put in the work, it’s the workload I’m wary about though, as I’m crazy enough to also want to pursue the university chamber/touring choir or simply a community chorus even! But I want to do both and lots of mentors of mine aren’t sure about it, which makes ME unsure about it and…idk I was worried it wasn’t possible b/c I’ve never seen it done before and these responses weren’t encouraging. Yet here you are! Thank you for that. What a crazy morale boost I just got, I’m still gawking. I’ll be watching your other videos from now on too, there’s bound to be more things to know. I wish others shared their experiences like you do. Advice like this is invaluable 🙏 again, thank you
Yo, thanks so much for this long, well-thought out comment Samira! College can be a lot of fun! As long as you put in the time, you will do great. The amount of time that people have to put in varies a little bit (not much), but as long as you sit down and face the hard stuff, you will do great! I would definitely recommend continuing your singing stuff. It's a great way to feel a sense of structure and have a stable friend group in the scary world that is college. Thanks! I am just trying to make transparent videos about things that I feel like would be useful to people on this college journey. Best of luck for your future studies, Samira!
Sick video bro 💯 I’m also a math/stats student, well, an Actuarial Science and Math student
@@sithijamanage Thanks man, likewise. Lmao definitely a grind, stats/act sci pre much the same thing - tough yet interesting
@Azad Jafari Ye man. What year are you?
what a great video!
Thanks so much, Thorsten!
Sithija, This is a great video to have up. For those who have never been to University at this level just explaining a single day can take a lot of the fear out of it for students new to the experience. Good for you sir! This also reminds me about how often we do not prepare our youth to be ready for the situations of taking care of everything for themselves. We often fail to teach them the simple tasks of self-care. Washing, cleaning, cooking, etc. We could work on that and your helping with your content. I'm loving it because, although I don't have your youth, I have a love of mathematics and I might actually go back and finish out some degrees late in life here.
Hi Herman! Thanks for watching and commenting! I completely agree. I hope that this video can help some students or at least demystify some aspects of what University might be like for them. Good luck! Thanks for watching
hey Sithijia, great video! i’m also an applied math major at a&m (actuarial focus), i’ve heard that the math department isn’t very big so they don’t get the most funding, but i’ve heard that because of that class sizes especially later on are pretty small and also the professors are super nice and helpful. how would you describe your experience with the math department?
also just wondering what your favorite study spots were on campus? almost all my classes this semester are in the blocker building, so i was just looking for some good spots where i can get some good work in.
Howdy Kenton! That's so cool that you found this video. The math department at A&M isn't super big I think, and the classes are around 20-30 pretty much all the way through in my experience. For example I took Real Analysis 1 with Dr. Larson, and it was about 20ish people. I loved the math department. There are some profs like Dr. Larson who are exceptionally caring, but in my experience they are all quite good.
In terms of favorite study spots, I honestly always studied best in the peace and quiet of my apartment, but a lot of people of course study on the quiet floors of Evans. If you don't mind noise, I also spent my time in-between classes in the undergraduate lounge (third floor I think) in blocker and met some cool math people there.
Thanks again for watching and commenting, Kenton! Gig em

Lol the intro😂
Great video😂I’m a pure maths and stats major from South Africa. How do you keep yourself motivated especially when tests start piling up.
Thanks Tyler! It's sometimes difficult to stay motivated, but something I do is write out all of the things that I want to study and then break it down and assign specific topics to specific days. I think writing down all the things you want to do helps make it seem more manageable. Then you get that feeling of satisfaction of finishing the things you set out to do on that day. This applies to homework too in my opinion. Hope that helps. Good Luck Tyler!
@@sithijamanage What sounds harder to your "ears"? 1. Masters Degree in Mathematics or 2. Masters Degree in Statistics?
@@scholarlyanalyst7700 Hi Scholarly Analyst, both are tough degrees. As a statistician I have a lot of respect for people who study pure mathematics. Thanks for watching!
@@sithijamanage OH WOW! I did not know you were a Statistician. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for watching this video, George. I think it's the first edition!
