  • ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano and NASA astronaut Drew Morgan take you on a unique tour of the International Space Station shot in one take with two cameras strapped together. Luca and Drew take it in turns to guide you through the modules and spacecraft docked to the orbital outpost.
Starting from the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft that bought Drew to the Space Station, the duo show each module and spacecraft docked with the International Space Station at the time it was recorded around the New Year 2020. Passing colleagues include NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and Christina Koch exercising and Russian cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Skripochka.
This is the first tour of the International Space Station with two astronauts presenting and the first done in a single take.
At the time of recording three supply vehicles were docked, the Russian Progress MS-13, Space-X’s Dragon-19 and Northrup Grumman’s Cygnus-12, as well as two astronaut vehicles the Soyuz MS-15 and Soyuz MS-13.
The map overlay graphic erroneously shows the future Nauka module instead of Pirs. The Russian Multipurpose Laboratory Module Nauka is planned for launch in the future and will replace Pirs, but we put it on the map already.

Simone Marchi The noise is mostly produced by ventilation systems. The Japanese Kibo module used to be the quietest, and I think it still is. It's been so long since I've swam under water like that that I don't recall if I'd be immediately comfortable with it. Your orientation keeps changing even though you grab handholds to maintain a constant direction. It was impressive. • @mrs7195
      @mrs7195 Před 3 lety +1

Exactly. Like, how would you fake it? They are clearly in weightlessness, and you can't imitate weightlessness this long on a falling airplane, not even mentioning the fact that you could not physically fit everything seen on this video in any existing airplane. And they are very clearly not under water either. So the only place one could get this sort of weightlessness is in space itself.

    Chief ISS resupply mission planner:
"Right everyone, I hear there's some corners of the station that aren't being used for stowage. That's not good enough. So our job is to decide what to send up there to fill those gaps."
    Newest member of the team:
"Why don't we just leave them empty? More room for the crew."
Various voices in the room (glaring at the noob):"
"Nonsense!" "What?" "That's no solution." "You have to be joking!" "How did you get in here?"
Chief ISS resupply mission planner (eyebrows raised at the noob):
"Ehem. So about the gaps everyone. What shall we send?"
One bespectacled, grey-haired member of the team:
    "How about some more cameras?"
    Whole room (variously):
"Brilliant!" "Well done!" "Can never have too many cameras. What if the other 324 fail?"
    Chief ISS resupply mission planner:
"So that's settled then. Three hundred and twenty-four more cameras to the ISS solving the surplus space problem and the desperately urgent camera failure issue. Good job everyone. It's why you're the best. Well, most of you."
All stare at the noob team member knowingly, who can only blush.
