    It has not been HR228 since it was enacted. The proper reference citation is LEOSA, or 18 usc 926b or c depending on status. Words matter.

    Excellent video, Andy. Are there different target zones for each of the six stages, or is it the entire silhouette throughout? (In Wisconsin, we use a smaller scoring zone for 3 and 7 yard shooting line, and full body silhouette for 15 and 25 yard shooting line.). Thanks!

    I am a Florida LEO instructor and do a lot of LEOSA quals. I’ll try to address the questions. No, this is not the G license qual, this is the new Florida LE qual for recruits, active and retired. No, each state is different, this is the new Florida qual, effective 07/01/2024.
    Yes, revolvers are still allowed, but you better be s$&t hot to fire 12 rounds with a reload in 20 seconds and get your hits.
    Smaller magazines are fine, you just have to comply with the number of rounds in each phase. No scoring zones. Anywhere on the main body of the silhouette, including breaking a line is good. Arms are a miss.
    And YES-please contact your member of congress about HR-354. That will clean up all of the issues with LEOSA, including making a standard qualification.
    Just did my last LEOSA class on the old course. I would estimate at least 50+% of the retirees that I dealt with won’t come close to passing the new standard

    lol love the range antics. Looking behind left and right… no one does this in real life it’s a rangism.

      The "range antics" you are referring to are actually REQUIRED during this new qualification... We didn't make up with qual but this is how they expect everyone to do it thus we have to teach it this way.

    What about qualifying with revolver for HR218.

      I think they changed it to only one firearm, revolver or semiautomatic, when I Irequalified in NY the instructor said we need to fire only one weapon and that would qualify for both

    My HR-218 buddies asked, what if they don't have 13rd magazines?

    • @TacticalFirearmsAcademyFL

      Florida has no restrictions on mag capacity. They can purchase one

      What if their HR218 CCW does not have 13 round capacity? Did you think about that one FDLE?

    • @ronaldfranck6960
      @ronaldfranck6960 Před 3 měsíci

      @@parker701chief9 I would imagine between segments the shooter would be allowed to reload a smaller capacity magazine, just so that the magazine runs dry when the mandatory reload falls in the sequence of fire.
