10 Countries with the Fewest Atheists. (Some real shockers)

  • Today we are talking about countries with the smallest portion of the population that claim to be atheists. If you don’t know what atheism is, it can simply be explained as a person who doesn’t believe in God or some other higher power. There are several flavors of atheism that I’m not going to get into, we are just broad brushing with people that don’t believe in the big man upstairs.
In the video where we looked at countries with the most Athiest, I said there will be people in the comment section talking about the different types of Atheists and how I just can’t label them all as atheists. I was right, they showed up.
That being said this time I will go a step further and include the numbers for convinced Atheists and none religious people.

That's true. In religions where monasticism is common, number of vocations could be a decent metric, but some religions (e.g. Protestantism, the various traditional Chinese religions described as "Confucianism") take Han Yu's stand that monasticism is wasteful and antisocial, so you couldn't use this metric everywhere. Church attendance could be a good metric, but there are a few religions that don't really have an equivalent of the Sunday Obligation (e.g. Buddhism). Overall, I would say the ideal metric is how religion changes peoples lives, and by that metric, some nations that we don't think of as that religious (e.g. Japan) may actually be highly religious.

It is Gold Coast, Brisbane, Australia (so no telling what he shows is correct or not). The former British colonial name of Ghana used to be Gold Coast, so that must be the source of Briggs' confusion.

I'm not even surprised to see Philippines in this list. As a non-religious person, it makes me sad when people automatically assume that you're a bad person just because you don't believe in religion. It's kinda sad. I once got into an argument with my father just because I told him I don't really believe in his religion. And mind you, I said it nicely. He got so mad and accused me of being an evil person who's influenced by the devil. When I told him, I want to move out and live on my own as I don't feel close emotional bonds with the family, he blames it on the devil. Seriously, I tried my best to get close to them and open up to them emotionally but they always shut me down. They even used religion as an form of manipulation to make me blindly do as they say. My mom even said you should help people even when they are being horrible to you.
I've also seen so many people get into petty arguments due to religion. In this country, there are many forms of christianity and they often argue amongst themselves on which one is right or wrong.
I often had to hide that I'm non-religious to avoid being judged.

My parents even took me to some stupid witch and they were like that I'm influenced by the devil and that like some saints are going to "save" me from him. And what you mention that they are arguing about religion or whatever, it's because even they don't know in what to believe and what they want. Be yourself and don't take anything personally what the speak to you because they are really brainless, not you, you just refuse to believe in bullshit. As a romanian I would say its a lot more complicated. The concept of 'balkanism' is somewhat more nuanced. Ie its usually used as self deprecation with some overtly bigoted connotations.Personally I would consider Romania in a transition zone between the Balkans and Central Europe. We romanians use it in jest to imply we're not as developed as the more 'enghlitened' central europeans as opposed to the 'barbaric' peoples of the Balkans. Trust me there is a strong element of bigotry and xenophobia to our 'balkanism' concept. We actually hate it when we say 'we're in the Balkans' because we imply 'we're just like those 'illiterate savages/corrupt criminals/muslims''. We don't actually want to be part of it and honestly geographically we're not. We're really not except for the Dobrogea region. But its a self deprecation with some very disturbing connotations of far right extremism. I don't know if you noticed it but 90% of us romanians are highly bigoted towards anyone who is not us.

Buddhism is widely regarded as an atheistic religion. Buddhist scriptures either do not promote or actively reject the existence of a creator god, the existence of "lesser" gods who are the source of morality and that humans owe any duties to any gods. At the same time, though, these scriptures accept the existence of supernatural beings which might be described as gods. Some Buddhists today believe in the existence of such beings and are theists. Others dismiss these beings and are atheists. Since there is nothing about Buddhism which requires a belief in gods, atheism in Buddhism is easy to maintain.

Buddhism simply based on mind, its dominating thoughts & consequences of that for the present & for the future.
Though there are basically 4 Hells & 6 Heavens [ total with subdivisions 33 ], one inevitably would reach a one after life according to one's dominating thoughts in the present life, no creator for any of that, all as a result of Natural causes. But Buddhism mainly geared for how not to reach any of that 33 worlds.
I don't see Buddhism as a successful religion/ Philosophy because of its pessimistic theories though the principles of mind almost parallel with modern psychology.

It also somehow similar to experience of Former Christians turned Muslims, or the other way around, Plus if you're a Biblical Christian Believer, there's verses in the Bible where Believers will tend to be isolated when they leave their parents/familes home to follow Christ by carrying his cross.
By the way, As a Subscribe Christian who doesn't aligned with the any established Denominations or Sects, but only through Following the Bible, is somehow have some values of Atheist, Humanist and Agnostics. The only problem that I observed on the so-called Official Atheist is their Prescribe Values that pushes the over belief on science and logic, while dismissed the other values and wisdom as Nonsensical and False. Which somehow misplaced Ideology, and In the process turn off people into somehow going into them deeply for much more understanding.
