1st I would like to say that color on that Specialized is seriously on point! Hard to listen when I am distracted by that beauty!!
2nd.. never spray cleaner/degreaser onto a connector. Spray the towel and dab it so as to not push debris down into the plug. Once you dab the goo off of it, then you can wipe it more aggressively. :)
I cut a phone screen protector to cover my display and to protect it. Bonus is I used a non glaring type to fight sun glare of the screen. My hip pack has a drinking tube with a magnetic stay. I copied that Idea and fastened a magnet to my charger plug. Now when my charger is not in use, the plug is captured with the magnet and held up high on my tool box, out of the way and in easy reach for the next charge cycle.
Hey Todd! We agree, the Specialized is a super sleek looking bike! You've got some really cool hacks there! We'll all have to use those! 👍
Dielectric Grease and ACF-50 is all you need for connections👍
I like having no display on the handlebars like some Giants and other bikes as this can be a trouble spot but on the other hand you can probably set your phone up to be a display if you want and easily remove it. when you are riding in rough terrain or don't need the info right in front of you. I heard you can remove the controller on the handlebars of the 2022 Giant reign and just run of the top tube unite. The new controller is wrapped quite nicely around the bars thou.
E8000 external battery mount.
I started to get an overheat warning after 10 minutes use. Examination of the terminals showed pitting due to high temperatures with some bubbled/melted plastic where the metal met the mount. The overheat warning was resolved by cleaning the battery mount terminals with wet and dry paper and contact cleaner. I'll be covering the mount in future when transporting my bike on the back of my car. Wondering if some di-electric grease might be a good idea too.
try acf 50 lot cheaper di electric grease
Vaseline is the same shit
@@islandaerial3414 vaseline looks the same but it's petroleum based, dielectric grease is supposed to be silicone based and won't degrade rubber like vaseline. Vaguely remember being told that by an earnest biology teacher 🤔
They didn't mention dielectric grease though 😁
@@ashleyscarth8363 will bear it in mind if I ever get through this tube of grease 😏
@@RoddyRoams What part of your electrics are rubber? 🤷♀
I'm amazed at how many really weak aspects are just accepted as normal on bikes that cost as much as a car!
Why are the makers using these junky connectors? And incredibly thin and delicate wires mounted on the inside face of a swing arm??? I think these guys should NOT put connectors right in the very spot that will be pelted with grit, water, mud, sand. This should all be the normal. Can you imagine if trials bikes or motocrossers had so many weaknesses built in?
Amazing that it's all down to the rider to identify the weak spots, what are the designers doing? Or is it all just maximise profit by minimising cost?
We seem to need a "Honda or Yamaha" to produce something stronger and better, it will come and all these "pretty things" with a few great parts, will get shaken up.
I noticed you have park tool wall banner along the top of your wall. Where did you find the wall boarder?
Hi Tommy! The Park Tool workshop is made up of stickers. You can find these stickers on various websites online! Hope this helps! 👍
@@embn Thanks for taking the time to reply back. Much appreciated!!
Great video!
I'm curious, is there more maintenance involved with Ebikes or are they about the same as manual bikes?
Also, the Market is really blowing up now! What is a solid, bang for your buck model? My local shop carries Norco, Orbea, Transition, and Pivot.
IMO, I think it's ridiculous to spend $10k+ on any bike! Some of these Ebikes are well over that price point.
Hey Norbert! Maintaining an E-MTB is very similar to how you'd service a normal bike (for example brakes, groupset, suspension and bearings are all similar). However, maintaining electrical components is an additional factor you have to consider. Hopefully, this video explained that for you! Thanks so much for the support! 👍
@@embn Thanks for your response - that's good to know. What about the "Bang for your Buck" models? ( if you're able to comment 🙂)
I would say that ebikes do need additional maintenance per hour use, as the forces are greater over that time. Not only are you accelerating faster but you are also braking against more weight. Wear happens faster with more weight but you get the benefit of less personal effort during the ride.
@@NDemanuele1 check out the Yamaha Moro, great bang for your buck at $4650 US
Best way to protect the motor and suspension pivots is to fit real mudguards and avoid puddles and deep mud. Colourful bikini mudguards are completely pointless.
Hey Tom! You make a good point! Avoiding water and extremely deep mud will help prolong the life of your bearings and motor! 👍
They sure know how to price em 😂
Basically leave it alone is the advice.
top tip if ur shimano motor goes wrong out of warranty just throw it in the bin and buy a new one for 1k becouse shimano has made them all non serviceable and brick the motors if you open them up.
😂
just had this exact problem after a few 1000 miles that e010 error code ie battery connection problems it could be a new battery could be a new motor could be the speed torque sensor what cant be fixed it is a code that doesnt tell you whats knackered just cuts power to the motor when putting pressure on the crank so folks it you buy a shimano motor put 500 quid a year away ready for your motor going after a few 1000 miles
@@megane230f1 tbh if it was me and it failed just out side warranty id take them to small claims court as not fit for purpose as can not be serviced buy anyone if they go wrong
Ur? Brick?
