British Heavy Rock at it's best!! Song to die for!!
100 years from now they will still be the iconic badass rock band!
This song proves that Zeppelin is the house band for the Creator of the Universe. Music for God, by the gods
Dave Grohl said he always wanted to play this live. When he was asked why he didn't, he simply said, "I can't"
LOL!
To me they are the best musical act ever. If I could have one artist's music to listen to for the rest of my life I would pick Led Zeppelin.
Me too.
You're so right that Zeppelin is the greatest band of all time
Bohman is a freight train in this one! and of course Page is killing it!
I remember dropping the needle on this one when it came out in 1976 and we all were jaws on the floor and looking at each other saying ... did you here that!!!
"Masterpieces every time...." -- That's the secret of the greatest rock band of all time. You got it right.
Nobody ever seems to give enough credit to John Paul Jones' arrangements, nor to Jimmy Page for producing all the albums.
This was Jimmy page at his creative best. 8 different guitar parts all recorded in one night .
Jones is keeping up with the complex changes , and that is no easy ride . Monster bass chops , and a fine keyboard player too . Listen to THANK YOU off the 2nd LP .
On Achilles Last Stand, in particular, JPJ paved the way for Steve Harris from Iron Maiden and the “gallop” that came to define him. This is a blue print for metal without being metal. It’s power but with tremendous finesse! Never gets old even after 43 year (on my turntable)!
@@stevec5462 Genius observation on your part my friend....
JPJ gets as much credit as any bass player in a successful band EVER. So many have called him underrated that he is now officially overrated.
Fun fact, Robert Plant was in a wheelchair when he recorded this. He was recovering from a bad carwreck in Greece.
Oh yeah that’s right his accident. I’m not sure, did Robert lose anyone from that accident? I thought I heard that¿
Certainly not a fun fact for Plant...
@@joshuadeshaies7266 No one was killed in that accident. Robert and his wife were badly injured.
@@joshuadeshaies7266 no but the whole album (presence) was recorded with him in a wheelchair, some of the lyrics reflect his depression at that time aswell due to the crash
Yup, they were going to go on tour but had to cancel so went into tge studio. 18 days written and recorded.
Some always argue Beatles or Stones, I always reply Led Zeppelin 👏There are other great 70's bands but Zeppelin were and are the greatest 👌 Achilles Last Stand the greatest 10 mins committed to tape ,Proggy but not Prog, metal, but not metal, this band and song defies any one genre.
How could they top Kashmir? They did with this song. A wonderful analysis of the band and song 🎵.
that bass. jonsey may be the best all round musician ive ever heard. what a beast
The only reason this track isn’t longer is because Bonhams drums are smoking and Pages guitar is on fire
The reason why the song in longer it's because Page created it that way. Stop with the BS.
@@deanbriss10 It’s supposed to compliment a brilliant track. You shouldn’t take it so seriously
@@jayw8494 I can't accept you saying (mistakenly as it is) that Bonham was the only reason.
@@deanbriss10 The life of the party, now, aren't ya?
@@deanbriss10 dude you’re such a fuckin’ bummer. That comment was a compliment.
Bonzo was the engineer of this runaway train! He drove this one forward! One of the most impressive drumming performances ever recorded!💯
Oh yeah , he proved himself on this , if anyone ever doubted him ...
This is Jimmy Pages finest work. It's genius!
Indeed the greatest band of all time .. anything else would be generic
As a drummer, this one always blows me away. Bonzo puttin’ in Work!
As Dave Grohl said those drum fills are impossible.
“The Rain Song” is a beautiful, almost ethereal song.
The world's greatest band ever in my opinion!
No opinion mate it's fact 👏👏
@@MrGolfnut71 obviously you have terrific taste!👏🏻
when Bonham died , charlie Watts (rolling stone drummer) says "From now on, there will be no other drummer like this man"
They are together now
@@jenniferhenrich2852
Hope they have a ' god' jam together now ..
When the Beatles split , the Stones must have said " that's it , we're number one now ." then they heard the first Zep album , and said - " OH BLOODY HELL " !
"No one could produce such creative guitar parts like James Patrick Page."
thats what I'm sayin
The live version of this song from Knebworth 1979 will take you to another dimension!
I like this better .
They knew after 5 minutes of their first rehearsal that they had something truly special
IMHO this is the greatest song ever made. I’ve never heard anything that I enjoy anywhere near as much as I this........
Like your 'everything this band does is a masterpiece'!
The sheer power is mind blowing!! 😳
The best part about it is that this is the best Led Zeppelin work not constantly being played. Led Zeppelin did not get all the studio time they needed for this album as The Rolling Stones book the studio after them so the band worked fast and intensely on this album in record time. Modern artists would not settle for 18 days in the Studio but this band made a timeless album in that time period. This album did hit #1 but it is the overlooked gem of the bunch. But the fans know this is a prime cut and an invasive work ahead of its time.
Finally a reactor who doesn't stop every minute to hear themselves talk.
One of my favorites from the G.O.A.T. of Rock
It simple: GOATs
Bonham is off the chain. How, so fast? ....I'm drooling!
I recently put every Led Zeppelin song recorded in alphabetical order on my playlist and every single damn song is incredible in their own way. I think I've heard them all on the radio at one point. LZ don't make filler songs.
I Think Bonzo's drums melted after this song was done!!
Thanks for the Reaction. If your going to listen to Presence, Nobody's Fault but Mine is another great track.
Yes, that has to be the next song from “Presence.”
Tea for One is a sleeper
This is the greatest, most explosive drum track ever recorded, period..I bet he did it in one take too, it is absolutely thunderous...monumental.
Page's guitar work is so raw, it slashes through just like Achille's sword. By the end you feel like it is all battled and bloodied and there is a trail of bodies behind...THIS is what hard rock has always been reaching for but only Zeppelin can take us all the way.
LOVE ME DO was the faucet drop . ACHILLES was the hurricane . What a ride ! Thanks , British moptops ! Thanks Dr. Leary !
Yes beat band ever! Watch this live from 1979...killer!! Jimmy and Bonzo!!!
Listen to "The Rover" song from the album Physical Graffiti. That song will pump you up!
I love The Rover!!
Absolutely! A tragically under appreciated song.
@@juliemanarin4127 I can say this about all Zep songs!
This song has the best guitar.
I couldn't agree more.
Led Zeppelin was the band that other bands went to see.
Probably the track that most resembles “metal” that they ever made. Reckon this has a massive influence on the bands that form the NWOBHM
IMO "No Quarter" or "Kashmir" are more metal than this. This is (again, IMO) more progressive rock
Immigrant Song is pretty metal.
@@neillenet291 I feel this one is almost a sequel in style and lyrical content to Immigrant song. Act II, in a sense.
@@anthonypowell6234 Good comparison
GOATS NUFF SAID
Want drums? Fool in the Rain. For me, the most enjoyable of Zeppelin's songs to play on a kit.
My number one zeppelin song
Their best song.
Totally agree my friend
It was an April morning when they told us we should go
As I turn to you, you smiled at me
How could we say no?
Oh, the fun to have
To live the dreams we always had
Oh, the songs to sing
When we at last return again
Slipping off a glancing kiss
To those who claim they know
Below the streets that steam and hiss
The devil's in his hole
Oh, to sail away
To sandy lands and other days
Oh, to touch the dream
Hides inside and never seen, yeah
Into the sun, the south, the north
At last the birds have flown
The shackles of commitment fell
In pieces on the ground
Oh, to ride the wind
To tread the air above the din
Oh, to laugh aloud
Dancing as we fought the crowds, yeah
To seek the man whose pointing hand
The giant step unfolds
With guidance from the curving path
That churns up into stone
If one bell should ring
In celebration for a king
So fast the heart should beat
As proud the head with heavy feet, yeah
Days went by when you and I
Bathed in eternal summer's glow
As far away and distant
Our mutual child did grow
Oh the sweet refrain
Soothes the soul and calms the pain
Oh Albion remains
Sleeping now to rise again
Wandering and wandering
What place to rest the search?
The mighty arms of Atlas
Hold the heavens from the earth
For the mighty arms of Atlas
Hold the heavens from the earth
From the earth
I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way
I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh
For the mighty arms of Atlas
Hold the heavens from the earth
Ah, ah, ah, ah

Love the nastiness of CUSTARD PIE!
Zeppelin is so great that Custard Pie is their worst album opening track and yet is still my favorite album of all time. Think about that.
@@edwardcoit9748 they really set the bar super high... There was something about the rawness the uniqueness of that song the funkiness it sounds like plant has a sore throat and it is just unique...
"How Many More Times", it's from their first album and hardly anyone reacts to it.
No one really reacts to "Out on The Tiles" from LZIII either...hell they hardly react to anything off of III, even though I think that is one of their best albums.
Good call, both of you
I know people talk crap about the live version from 79...but it’s worth checking out simply for Bonzo 🥁 Next up should be Ten Years Gone or the live version of Song Remains the Same and the Rain Song from Madison Square Garden in 73. They are amazing. Make sure you do them back to back. The Transition is 🔥
Great point- every reaction you’ve done to Zeppelin, has bee n a masterpiece. They have more masterpieces than any band- virtually every song!
being a drummer yourself I'm surprised nobody has requested that you react to "Moby Dick". An epically long drum solo that you must see live!
GREAT CHOICE, Chod! Great as the first song of 2021! One of the best songs by one of the top bands in history.....Thanks! Robert was in a wheelchair when they recorded this album in 1976 because of his horrible car accident in 1975. The story is that he was so excited by how well Achilles went that he tired to jump up....fell and re-injured himself. Luckily for him and us, he fully recovered.
To me it's completely impossible to have a best Led Zeppelin song, there are just too many great songs, masterpieces as you call them, but if I were to pick a favorite, this would definitely be in the running, along with, I'm Gonna Crawl, Tea for One, Kashmir, Whole Lotta Love, When the Levee Breaks, Dazed and Confused, Good Times Bad Times, Since I've Been Loving You, Ramble .... On and on and on lol ... Great Reaction :)
GOATS🔥
You are correct!
From this same album Presence, listen to:
Nobody’s Fault But Mine.
It’s my favorite song off of Presence and one of my top 3 or 4 favorite Zep songs period.
And on the 8th day God said, "Let there be Led Zeppelin.....
If you haven't already listened to When the Levee Breaks you should....
Youre the first to react to this . The peak of their creativity . Every person on board is locked in - totally focused . Page's solo is insane . Bonham closing in on KEITH MOON as England's most insane , relentless drumming maniac .
🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐
jimmy and bonzo had a conversation during this song
Faith No More "EPIC"
"Thank You " by Zeppelin is also a great song
The bbc session for this song is insane
They're all great songs!
You have to see this live at Knebworth (1979) The visuals are stunning.
The intro always makes me think of Heart's Barracuda
Once again
MOBY DICK LIVE
Start the year with the best drum solo ever by drum GOD...
JOHN BONHAM!!!!!!!
PLEASE......
“Ten YearsGone “or Nobody’s Fault But My Own pick one please make an old grey bearded man who lived this music happy in 2021.....it’s all Led Zeppelin and it’s all great ! ✌️Happy new year!🎊
Wow! No one is reacting to Led Zeppelin songs that are not as well known! But still ROCK!!!!!
HAVE to listen to live version. You won’t regret it! Happy New Year!
My dad introduced me to Led Zeppelin when I was 5 years old. I feel blessed to have grown up on them but I’m also envious of people like you who get to experience them as an adult for the first time with a refined understanding of musicianship nuance. Great reaction!
You should check out the lemon song by them.the bass line is sick!
And the sound Bonham gets on drums for Lemon Song stands alone. To this day, nobody has been able to duplicate it, 51 years later.
@@gregrambo606 agreed! Bonham was the best rock drummer ever!
You need to do hammer curls or leg press with this blasting at the gym. Huge gains.
Can’t wait to hear how you feel about the drums in this one....
It's amazing how music can bring all people from different cultures together
61 years old now, drumming since I was 8 years old, rock on.
Greatest! intro/outro EVER!!! and everything in between. Greatest!!! reaction too. You are now a confirmed Zepp head like the rest of us.
The best group ever.
This has always been one of my favorite Zep tunes from an album that kind of flies under the radar for some reason.
Live version from Knebworth will truly warp your mind
Millions of drummers have been Bonham fans. Many cite Led Zeppelin's "Fool In The Rain" as one of their favorites, then "Moby Dick". Go for it. You know you'll love them. I know you will. If you want to see one of their earliest performances, check this one out from 1969. czcams.com/video/wEPog_WdPE4/video.html
It is awesome to see your genuine astonishment at how great Zeppelin is. I have heard this song probably thousands of times and I am still floored by it every time I listen to it. Looking back on your Zeppelin reactions, considering you call them the greatest band to walk the earth (a sentiment I am in full agreement with) you absolutely have to hear the studio versions of Kashmir, Black Dog, Since I've Been Loving You, Immigrant Song. I know these can get tricky with the way they can be blocked, but you have to at least hear them as a fan. The live versions are absolutely spectacular in each case, but the studio versions, especially when it comes to Kashmir (a song that I would consider one of the best songs of any genre of all time) have to be heard, especially by someone who appreciates Zeppelin.
And now on the flip side, please put the cherry on top of the No Quarter sundae and review No Quarter the unedited version from MSG 1973. It will blow you away.
Thank you for all the reviews (Zep, Floyd, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Rush, etc) and happy new year!!!
1977 i was 16 the show was 3 and half hours hitch hike there and took a cab home from Seattle and still had a little pot left
How in the hell did you have any weed left lol
None of them were slacking in this song, not that they do in any, they are each pummeling the shit out of it. To think Plant was in a wheelchair, while recording this album, not knowing if he’d walk again.
If you haven't already, you should watch the live concert from 1973 in Madison Square Garden - Its all great but "The Ocean" and "Since I've Been Loving You" are particularly special.
My favorite song of theirs...damn!
_One of_ the best ever... LOL
Deep Purple will always own my heart. 😁💜
You should have watched the live version, page plays two parts all on his own and it’s amazing!
Might be Bonham's most impressive work. I love this song. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Misty Mountain Hop
Your right. The best band ever made
Fun fact. Bonzo never used a double kicker. Making this beat ...well, it makes me wonder
Album is Dope too.......Gotta experience their whole album!!!!
the goat
Great reaction. This was their best from their later albums. A truly epic track, with John Bonham assaulting the track throughout, and Jimmy Page building up layers and layers of guitars.
THE LEMON SONG!
Please listen to Fool in the Rain
Achilles takes few listens.. once it hits, it'll be a fave.. Nobody's Fault but Mine
No surprise Jimmy Page was a heavily in demand session guitarist before playing with The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin with the bands he did session work for being like an A to Z list of all the big musical acts of the 1960's from The Beatles to The Who.
You said it Chod! Peace
Its very difficult indeed to narrow down to one band who is the GOAT.
Even more difficult when you're British and the choice back then was ridiculously rich and varied.
Led Zeppelin are a huge part of my life, having rushed out and bought their debut, aged 15 in 1969,i've got all their magnificent catalogue from that moment on.
Best of the lot?
Floyd,The Who,Stones,Beatles (of course),Sabbath,Purple,ELO,Bowie,Cream,Pistols,Clash,Maiden,Priest,Queen,Genesis,Yes,ELP,Wings and Muse.
See what i mean?
“Goin to California” gotta be live from Earls Court though...it’s amazing♥️
