Thanks Ben, I’m truly honored that you’re willing to hand the baton over to me. When Stephen first started the challenge in 2017, I bought my first boy’s axe (and Cook’s Book) and tried my hand at some proper chopping. Splitting firewood has always been apart of my life, but felling, limbing and bucking were always done with a chainsaw. It never occurred to me to use an axe for those tasks as well. I never really participated in the challenge officially because I never really cared to film myself, until we got locked down this past April. Then I was looking for something to do, so I decided to post on CZcams. Since then I’ve met a lot of really interesting, friendly people. I’m not online very much but plan on posting consistently both on CZcams and the Cordwood Group, but basically if you have a question and the community can’t answer I defer to Owen Jarvis. He builds more axes and chops more than anyone I know. So with that said, for anyone reading this, I will be making and posting a Cordwood 2021 video very soon! Let’s have another great year, and this time with zero accidents. Ben, thanks again, brother, and good luck with Timber Sports this year!
Thet cordwood challenge saved my life and brought me out of a big funk. It's taught me alot. Ive learned how to properly use an axe. Ive learned how to tune an axe, and make handles. Ive learned how to fell trees, buck notches and stack firewood. I've also learned many different species of trees. It's also taught me that i am actually stronger than i think. Axe work has changed my life and i think about chopping wood when i wake up and when i go to sleep. Lol I have the bug
This is the sort of thing I like to hear. Especially about tree identification. I think it teaches you to see the woods differently. Can’t wait to see what you do this year.
@@KevinsDisobedience thank you brother. I am excited aswell! I look forward to more videos from you Your stuff is always great. I am happy to hear that you will be hosting the cordwood challenge from now on. I think you are the perfect candidate and will do a fine job.
Thanks Billy, I plan on going out this weekend to film the intro for this years CordWood video.
Dont know if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm you can stream all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my gf recently xD
@Chance Trace Yup, I have been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
Thank you Ben for the encouragement, instruction, kind words and the opportunity. Thank you for putting this together, which is no small effort. My thanks to all involved past, present, future....
Yeah that Hauki dude is definitely finnish, heh. Thank you for the recap, every year I keep up with this challenge hoping I could take part in it but family life with small children is what it is. Also my little plot of forest is quite far away. I even got my chopping axes ready and tuned, have had for few years now. Hope this event lives on for years to come because one day I'll bloody do it.
I don't know how this slipped through the net Ben, I've only spotted it now. Thanks for all the work you put into teaching and inspiring people 👍
Kevin is a cool dude! He is a perfect host for the cordwood challenge. Thanks for everythint ben. I am excited to see what you get up to with timbersports. I reckon you'll do great!
Ben, thanks for managing the Cordwood Challenge. And congratulations to Kevin.
Thanks Ben and congrats to all contestants!
Regarding the axe weight, the weight of the axe itself isnt too much of a problem. The bulkiness was more. Safety was my most concern. Like if i cut myself really bad, i'm pretty much done for. i wanted an axe that is comfortable to use and that was the Husqvarna multipurpose axe. The head is only 850grams but it could have been a little more for some extra bite. I have the bigger Hultafors axe, but with that i would have wanted to use my safety boots, which are darn heavy.
Thanks for hosting the cordwood challenge this far and best luck with the new challenges!
G'day mate, thanks for the effort in all this. I gotta say, Your vids have been a big inspiration for me to put down the stihl and dust off the old faithfull axe over the last few years, and I reckon for plenty of others too. Already started for 2021, got 1/3 Rick done, and 2 spotted gums on the ground waiting. Good luck with the timbersports and don't forget to review that Tui camp axe!
Thanks for the work you’ve done managing the challenge and coming up with the mini challenges! Looking forward to what Kevin comes up with
Thank you for your efforts Ben! BTW wouldn't it be good to start a specific CZcams channel for the challenge?
Excellent! Happy new year brother wishing you health and happiness! Keep up your great content mate and congrats on your subbs and followers! Quality sells! 👌🏽👍🏽 Best wishes mate 👍🏽😎
Thanks Ben for the effort you put in, really enjoy your videos. Best of luck with the timber sports 💪

Well done to all. Wish could have got out myself. Hard to find permission here in Scotland for ground
Thank you for your effort! Greetings from Germany
i am very jelous of you guys. can't find the time or wood to chop.
Nice one Ben.
Thanks for the recap, I'll definately need to try and enter next year.
The forestkern has been so helpful with his posts about sharpening. That first head you showed from him he ground for me and is probably my favourite axe to use. His work is excellent
Hope to see you chopping in 2021, Edward. And glad to hear your learning to sharpen and maintain the tool were all so keen on; it’s a big part of the challenge, I feel.
@@KevinsDisobedience I'll be sure to try and make some videos, wasn't able to go out of the city to my chopping spot this time because of covid restrictions but fingers crossed this year will go better
I hope so to. Looking forward to a new year of chopping.
whats the name of that "thing" you were using to split kindling at the start of the video?
Its a special type of billhook
Waiting for you in Russland in 2021.
