      @@am0ungth3l1ving it gets old fast for sure if you just play with the one true "tone" you have in your head but there's a decent amount of flexibility hidden beyond the pigeonhole these two companies have put themselves in.

    I’m so glad I discovered your channel Amos. You mix the perfect amount of humor and smarts along with great editing, lighting and great gear. It’s like eye and ear candy for a bass player like myself. And your original music is killer. I love the JHS pedal show for most of these same reasons but always feel a little short changed being a bassist. Thank you for providing this to us! Keep up the awesomeness!

    Best B7k video out there- for ANY version.
    Got the B7Kultra II a few years back and consumed and internalized every available review on these.
    This production truly explores the pedal as an INSTRUMENT. If I didn't already have one- this would have sold me.
    Bravo, just effing Bravo!

    Awesome! This bass preamp (along with a good bass) is literally the only shaping pedal I use (my other pedals are a noise gate and chorus) it fits the bill for every style of playing, from metal, to jazz, to rock, to gospel...I can't see myself without it. People have said that the sound is too modern or "djenty" but all that really means is that the thing sounds pristine and clear.

    Part of what makes your videos great is the grooves and beat production, you should totally do breakdown videos on your tracks... I'm always finding myself trying to cop your tones and pick out some of those cool lines.

      @@AmosHeller also, you mentioned having a process for dialing in your tone. My hot tip for getting a great sound is to go back and forth between 0 and 100% on the blend, get sounds you like on both sides, then use the level to match to drive side to the clean output volume. Then you can freely blend anywhere in between and retain your overall volume... Sweet spot for ton is usually somewhere between 30 and 75%, but it's great to be able to go back and forth between a little dirty and really gross with one knob.

  • @thepedalarchive2
    @thepedalarchive2 Před 3 lety

    Awesome! One step closer to that B7K ultra review! Better get it done before Taylor inevitably calls you back to the tour bus. Do you ever get to use DG gear on tour with Swifty (is that an acceptable nickname? I don’t know her personally)? Once again the best Darkglass reviewer right here. I especially love the dialing in tone with objectives and the level of detail in explaining how each adjustment leads to the final tone. Legitimately they should include links to your videos in every manual. All the best to you, Amos!

    Amon man, your videos are excellent. What I like the most is, the videos are well done, you test the gear, but you make comments on the way, and it is not about you playing the bass. We’re fellow musicians and I appreciate your skills and talents but if Im looking for a pedal/gear/guitar video, what I want is to understanding the equipment not necessarily watch at the very good bass players playing. I want the explanation, exactly as you deliver it, comments, details, schemes, uses, comparisons, what changes what, pros cons, etc, and for sure some sound demo, exactly as what you do. Even in the dark glass website the videos are between one and three minutes with no words, fancy bass guitar with metal sound and that’s it. All of them saying this is a better version of the family X, but you dont event know and they don’t tell what grandpa X does in the first place. So, thanks 🙏

    Hello Amos - thanks so much for this demo. Hugely informative and your choice of tracks and bass parts is phenomenal. Just tasteful parts. I'm curious if there was anything else in your signal chain before the B7K or perhaps any further processing in your DAW on the bass lines. I've struggled to get this much low end out of the B7K with a P Bass (Fender Custom '63 passive pickups) or a stock Fender Player Jazz bass. I'm sure like 99% is that you're a phenomenal player and I'm just starting out but couldn't quite get the same low end you seem to achieve here.

    Great review as always. I have the B3K V2 and sometimes have a tough time cutting through the mix with a good tone because it’s as if the frequencies with my guitar player overlap or something. I just gotta keep messing with it and find the sweet spot.

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  Před 3 lety +5

      I’m not sure if this will help, but it’s a fairly recent revelation for me that a bass tone that makes sense in a mix, especially a busy one, will not sound that good on its own. You may have to emphasize some frequencies you normally wouldn’t in the name of cutting through the underbrush. (Guitars are the underbrush)
